  1. Don't know why I didn't see it. Must be a sign of old age kicking in...
  2. K.u.r.o. - Satisfaction CD Psyristor Trax Ubar Tmar - True CD Matsuri Japan Psychopod - Headlines CD Tip
  3. Awesome! Why isn't that topic a sticky?
  4. I often see psynews members talking about how people should buy their music and support "the scene". Well here's a topic for you guys (and who knows, it might even inspire some consumerism in others...). Now list you recent scores Mine: K.u.r.o. - Satisfaction CD Psyristor Trax Ubar Tmar - True CD Matsuri Japan Psychopod - Headlines CD Tip
  5. You should watch it again then. All of his trademarks are in there, plus half the cast of Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks.
  6. Been trying to find info on artists like Ubar Tmar, KURO, Ree. K and Masa and the Japanese Trance scene in general, but there seems to be very little to find on the western webs. Anyone who can point me in the right direction? Ps. Recommendations are welcome as well EDIT: Pretty interesting thread though it's mostly focused on personal experiences: http://forum.isratrance.com/japanese-trance-scene-info/
  7. Butgeriett's Nekromatik 1, 2 & Der Todesking In A Glass Cage Tsukamoto's Tetsuo: Tokyo Fist, The Iron Man & Tetsuo: Body Hammer Valeri and Her Week of Wonders (A Czech Alice In Wonderland) Svankmajer's Alice, Faust and his early shorts Zulawski's Possession, Diabel, On The Silver Globe Lars Von Trier's The Element of Crime, Europa, The Kingdom TV series, Anti Christ, Melancholia etc. Japanese Toho studio classics like Kwaidan, Jigoku, House, Horrors of Malformed Men etc. Midori - a very weird and surreal Japanese anime film that was singlehandedly drawn by one single guy and only shown at freak shows. Man there's just tons and tons of stuff. I ran an underground cinema for four years where we showed more than 500 films. All hard to find stuff. Most of it never released on any homevideo format. But these should be easy to find.
  8. No, only the first book. Lynch was originally meant to adapt the first three books, including the two sequels Dune Messiah and Children of Dune. That unfortunately never happened due to the first film being a financial disaster. The producer wanted it to be the new Star Wars trilogy, while Lynch had a whole different take on it which eventually led him to leave the production. Dune was actually the main reason why Lynch decided to persue a career outside of Hollywood. EDIT: It seems that they did incorporate a few scenes from the two sequels as they tried to salvage the film, but it's just tiny bits and pieces in an attempt to end the story. So I don't know if that counts... Lynch talks about it here: Another interesting fact is that Jodorowsky was meant to adapt Dune before Lynch. Here's a little bit about that failed, but none the less very interesting, venture:
  9. I've lately been listening to the excellent '92 audiobook version of Herbert's Dune, and got an urge to re-visit Lynch's adaption. It's interesting how Herbert, unlike most, loved Lynch's film, and re-discovering the book I can see why. The film might lack in coherency for those unfamiliar with the book, but it accomplished one amazing feat: It managed to retain the deeply mystical atmosphere of the book. Something that every other Dune adaption failed to do. Any fans of the film? Great interview with Lynch and Herbert:
  10. I haven't seen this video in years. MkM (the singer) was one of the true believers. Not too shabby.
  11. It's a whole different level for sure.
  12. Definitely. Our Nord II has been collecting dust ever since we got a eurorack setup. I'll most probably never use it again.
  13. Would have killed to see that performance!!!
  14. Great to hear he's still at it. Man, I really hope another album will see the light of day, but I guess chances are slim as Superior Technology wasn't much of a hit (why oh why...). Sean's use of analog modules instead of the super thin/digi sounding Nords gives his sounds a unique "fullness" that makes it instantly recognizable. He really is a one of a kind musician.
  15. The problem with Psynews.org and almost every other (once) succesful music forum is that everything has been discussed to death. I know several other forums that have suffered the same fate. Once you've uncovered the entire genre all you've got left is news and maybe some critical analysis. Most people here doesn't seem to be interested in either. So yeah... There's really not much you can do about it.
  16. Currently in Czech Rep. http://instagram.com/totalfuneral
  17. The flesh is a trap, Death sets us free.
  18. Been jamming One Drop Or Two? all day. Insane modular work. Need to dig out the old Creamcrop comps. Fucking amazing stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6npjm2J1RBw
