  1. The Delta - "Send in... Send back" It's great, nuttin' more to it. This particular copy has a nice story as well though. I got it in a three-ways trade from Tatsu, by buying Prosect Andy a CD, and he sent one to Tatsu. I had been looking for this CD for ages, and was even considering downloading it from some dodgy place.... Then out of a clear blue sky, a day I was in a bad mood, Andy MSNed me, that he had found a copy for trade - so Tatsu totally made my day. - Therefore, should I win, my prize goes to Tatsu, because this lottery is also about sharing, helping out and so on... -A
  2. - And vice versa I guess? AFAIK "the rolling bassline" is a straight sausage of 1/16's of the same note...? This is used in sooo much more than music that falls into this (to me) elusive category "full-on" (what a terrible name btw...) Wow, it's just like happy hardcore then.... Except - real hardcore is sweet in small doses. That's exactly what I think! If we don't say stuff like "Hey man, MFG is just, like, TOTally full-on dude", how is it defined? All trance subgenres use the same tricks from time to time. Noone would call the Delta full-on (or would they? I honestly don't have a clue...), but there's a rolling bassline for'ya! I guess that full-on is what's on philosomatika 80% of the time these days, right...? Awfull. -A
  3. Eat Static - "Bony Incus" (MWNN rmx) Cypher O - "Alternate" (Deedrah rmx) <-- brill' -A
  4. And yes... Krell has a certain nack of brekkin'it down insightfull and articulate as always... -A
  5. I agree about the overly compressed sound, that's completely flat and undynamic... Be carefull though: The most severe compression I have ever seen is Eat Static's "Science of the gods" - from '97. It sounds *very* dynamic, even though the waveform is at the peak constantly - so compression is not just compression... It probably is, coming from fruityflops, but there is an art behind it too, and it doesn't have to sound tiring. About the full-on talk. Would someone PLEASE define full-on? No music examples are allowed, describe it in musical terms... -A
  6. Slightly non-psy (but psychedelic'er than most modern psytrance anyways...) Rechenzentrum - especially look for tracks "Camera Silens" and "King Ant" (the latter is pretty deep inside the bee hive ) I found some samples once, and even full track streams, so you could get lucky. -A Edit: How could I forget!!! What you are *really* looking for is Robert Rich - that is the most organic, squelching, glurping and morphing music I have ever heard. Not where rhytmical, just soaked soundscapes that makes you go ".....?!?"
  7. The very same No worries, I got'em real cheap, and he did tell me about the condition. The CDs are great too. I never knew how much I always wanted "Irritant" -A
  8. Sweet!! Thanks for the reply - fast, and to the point -Ask away 'bout the MWXT -A Edit: Daaaamn, that is a cool site!
  9. Hello all, I just bought some CDs second-hand. They were from some big collection, so they were not in the usual jewel-cases, and therefore only the inlay booklet is there - so now I desperately seek the back-side cover... Can you help me? Where do you usually find your covers (if you do...) - I need back-side covers for the following: X-Dream: "Irritant" and "We created our own happiness" Human Blue: "Electric roundabout" Art of Trance: "Voice of earth" -Thanks in advance -A
  10. It sounds good too... I think it could very well be phase vocoder based. But then again, that's my sollution for everything. I think I'll try to do one myself, whenever this damn examn-paper is written. Do any of you have experience with C-programming on windows? Because I only work on mac, and can't be bothered to figure out how to compile for windows... -A
  11. I would use a phase-vocoder (which is not the same as a plain vocoder). It operates on the partial frequencies of the sounds, and it would be possible to do some sort of interpolation between the spectrums of the two sounds. This method is not perfect, though, and some problems may arise, due to phase-distortion and whatnot. Oh yeah, another problem is that you will probably have to code it yourself But do a search, and maybe you'll get lucky! Edit: LINK -A
  12. When I want water, I use an auto-filter. One that opens and closes with the volume of the input-sound. Afterwards put it through a stereo-delay, where one channel has a slightly longer delay (10 ms or so) than the other... Presto: Boubly and atmospheric at the same time... -A
  13. My bid for a canonical list: Transwave - Phototropic Eat Static - Science of the Gods Der Dritte Raum - Raumgleiter Hallucinogen - The Lone Deranger The Delta - Scizoeffective -A
  14. When you snap out of it, and are: - Cold, becuase you tried (in vain) to air out the cigarette smoke, and left the window open 6 hours ago. - Hungry, because you haven't slept in 28 hours - Having to pee desperately, because it's been 8 cups of coffe and just as many hours since you went the last time. - Write stupid shit like "Hungry, because you haven't slept in 28 hours"... Hahaa! I'm going to bed! -A
  15. I think Hujaboy is a pretty lame name... But look who's talking! Amygdala has given me some odd remarks along the way... Especially from those whose native tongue is greek Anyway - I kind of like "Psysex". At first it's really lame because it has the "sex" in it, but when pronounced it becomes "SysEx" - system exclusive -A Oh, I forgot - I recently stared at the title of the new BUS album - it's neat in the same way, because at first it's nonsensical: "more business link you there"... But on closer inspection, and with an open mind: "More bus, less slinky out here" or am I messed up again?
  16. Speaking of sound-quality, the only difference between a modern hardware synth and a soft emulation is the A/D-converters. The big difference for me is the interface. The stuff you would do with a perfect emulation of a hardware synth with actual knobs would be very different, owing only to the interface. At least for me -A
  17. Hehe, yes... The limited edition black one is smoother by the looks. But I guess the MWXT should be orange. Yeah, it should. Most definetly! -A
  18. Maybe it's capable of a lot more, but not the same... Sure, the specs may imply that it is, but experienced ears (not my own, alas) say that the sound quality is not near the Prophecy's - for instance FM is not always FM, filters can be implemented in a million ways, and sound just as different - a lot of corners can be cut in the world of digital synthesizers. Nope, sorry Edit: I checked out it's specs, and it seems like just another sampler to me...? Hence, it's ALOT different from either Prophecy or MWXT. -A
  19. Yes it does... But on the other hand, it's capable of unique souds, that can blow you away, monophonic or not. Don't be fooled be the Z1 or Trident, which supposedly can do the same as the Prophecy and is multitimbral... I heard that the sound quality is noticeably worse. But if you need something more handy, with easier acces to a lot of sounds here and now, then the MWXT is a better choice. It has knobs for everything, which the Prophecy doesn't - I strongly advice you to control the Prophecy with sounddiver or something similar. I still haven't found the very basic amplitude envelope through the Prophecy's own interface -A
  20. Do you have a lot of MIDI tracks playing at the same time in your sequences? I have got the habit of programming a line I like, and then record it to audio at once. It makes it harder to edit it later, but effects are better in Logic, than either MWXT or Prophecy (with some exceptions...). That is a must with the Prophecy, since it's monophonic, and can't play more than one sound at a given time. It looks that way - I'm glad I found one here in Denmark, because my french is very poor -A
  21. Hullo - I have both of the beasts so feel free to ask anything What you will be most happy with depends on your needs (duh!). They are pretty different machines. Sound aside, some issues you should consider: - How do you compose? Do you have miles and miles of MIDI-tracks, or do you record immedietly? The Prophecy is monophonic, so you'll have to compose-record-compose-record aaaall the time, if you want more than one sound in a track... Besides, you can't play chords on it - which is a damn shame, since it can create some wicked pads and layers. The Microwave is better that way. But at the same time, the Prophecy has some really cool oscilators (especially the comb filtered one), that can do stuff that almost no other synth out there is capable of. The MWXT is special too, with the wavetable synthesis - but somehow it's less "weird"... Soundwise, they are both capable of crisp scratchy sounds, polated ethereal flowing sounds, and in-your-face sharp arpeggio-suited sounds. The modulation options on the prophecy can be coupled to it's effects, which are good, but needing more - the microwave is seriously wanting in the effects department. It only has some standard delay-effects, a flanger/chorus, and an almost useless amplitude-modulation. Hmm, I'm hungover now, so I can't give an in detail review If you plan to get both of them some time or another, I think you should go for the Prophecy first. It seems quite rare, compared to the MWXT. I had to browse through several second-hand sections to find one. I got one real cheap though (€ 320 or so). -A
  22. Audacity is a bit tricky about creating mono from a stereo sample - one of the reasons I seriously dislike it.... You need to click on the name of the track - to the left, right beside the 'X' in the track-info box. Select "split stereo-track" - mark the one you don't need, and erase it (by pressing the 'X') Now you have one channel left, which will still play in one side. Click the name-thingy again, and select "mono". Now you're ready to export from the "file" menu -A
  23. I didn't hear about this?!? That would be sooo awesome, although it's dangerous to mess with perfection. Speaking of perfection: Byron Bay, Vision Quest and Malaka dance. It don't get no better dan dat! -A
