Well, it's not the only thing I listen to but I do like it. Will check out Didrapest. Lots of nice links here, like all of it actually. Agneton, the track you posted rocks especially, will check his stuff.

It can be Nitzhonot. But also full-on or whatever. But the point is it has to be psychedelic too. Here is an example of something cheesy but still psychedelic:
-
I obviously know Yahel. Maybe I should be more specific: I'm not just looking for artist names but specific songs or albums. Also rather new releases if possible. Edit: Uh, Skazi... To be honest, Skazi does not exactly fit my idea of cheesy. Cheesy means hyper-melodic to me. And the few Skazi titles I heard didn't sound especially psychedelic to me. Thanks anyway.

I got Loud - Free From Conceptual Thought today and damn it's amazing. Actually it made me order all the other available Loud albums, the compilation they did and the Eitan Reiter chill-out album.
-
As some of you might know I love cheesy psytrance. I've been lately mostly listening to prog stuff but I feel like I need some more cheese in my life again. Which cheesy psy (doesn't matter if psy, prog, goa or full-on) would you rate as psychedelic? I gladly accept any recommendations.

Pretty easy if you ask me: Artists like Protoculture for example just like clubtrance so to them it's not crap I suppose. There is also intelligent clubtrance (if music can be intelligent at all, maybe that should be up for a debate on it's on) as far as I can tell so maybe you should stop expect artists to share your taste just because they had a release you liked.

In Switzerland I tend to see more and more femaile DJs. Not only psy but also in other electronical styles. Sure there are some who are there more for the looks (I'm talking more about house, don't know any Swiss psy djane who goes into that category) but there are some I really adore (because of their music but the few I know personaly also because they are just damn nice): Xylophee (no soundcloud), Miss Ding (no Soundcloud); Auf Dauerwelle http://soundcloud.com/auf-d, Playlove http://soundcloud.com/playlove, Beryll Ryder (liveact) http://soundcloud.com/beryllryder, Jacqui http://soundcloud.com/jacqui, Cämix http://soundcloud.com/caemix, Jasmin conte http://soundcloud.com/jasmin-2 There are more that I have just seen on flyers (I don't go to psy parties that often anymore) or who are djing but are not that known. Sure, there are still way more guys doing the dj thing but compared to maybe 5 years ago I notice more and more djanes.

I think it's not even drugs and partying (but of course that laso takes a lot of money...). And partying would even give money to the artists playing. I also think it's the trend of wanting to have the newest gadges like MP3-Players, I-Pods, Labtops and the likes. I mean by far not all listeners are die hard hippies who don't work so they do have money to spend. But they prefere other things because it's easy to just download the music for free since you simply can't buy gadges, and music and drugs and so on, so you have to set your priorities. It's the same with movies for me, I rarely buy DVDs since I can just use Pirate Bay. But obviously I don't love movies as much as I love my music, not even close so...

The samples sound indeed nice. Think I will include this in my next order.

Imho the last part is completely wrong. In most cases if you take the time to produce something you want it to be good. It doesn't matter how much money you make with it. At a certain point you might stop producing or just produce stuff for fun and not with the idea to release it if you are dissappointed with the financial outcome. Sure, if you get more money you can buy better equipment or work less so you have more time for music, which might give better results with your next releases. But most of the times if a lot of money is being made you have a lot of artists who jump the bandwagon and release some standard stuff to get cash. Which can lead to: the bigger the scene gets, the more crappier releases you have. And since we're talking about taste here, crappy means sounding similar to everything else. I also think it's kinda funny you say you have done your part. Not because it's not true. It's cool you bought some stuff, especially when you have limited financial ressources. But saying I'm done is exactly the thing that prevents artists from making enough money.
-
@ rino: totally agree with you. @ radi: I actually had to smile reading your "such talk, no action" sentence. There are people in this forum who have spend years with promoting the scene. Be it with writing reviews, collecting stuff, organise events, making music and what not. While others just recently started to pay for their music... It's cool you write reviews and do all that stuff, but thinking it's something people have not done before is maybe a bit naive.

I don't see it as wrong. Taste is taste... Imho you can compare the styles as you like. I like some Rammstein tracks and I like some Lady Gaga tracks. For what they are in their genre (catchy, banging, whatever). But the difference between Goa/Psy and stuff like Metal or Pop is that the later styles are (most of the times, there are exceptions of course) not psychedelic At least not the stuff that gets sold a million copys.. A lot of regular people get turned off by too much psychedelica in the music. Even when it is rather soft like with Shpongle or Younger Brother and not banging in your face acid-style. I doubt this will change.
-
I never said it is a problem. I just stated that then it was a rumour (or a guess) that he might need money. Exactly because it sells so much it is called pop(ular) music.
-
That's a good thing then. But well, compared to, let's say make a living with it? Not a Lady Gaga living but like grant Simon something like a regular salary all in all?
-
I actually thought this topic might be about your own music in the end... Of course it would actually be nice if most artists could live only from the money the get for the music. I also like paying for my music. Still, if the only (or the main) reason to create music is the wish of being famous or get money I don't like the motivation. You never know what is behind a track and I don't doubt you can make great music even if it's only for the music. But I also think the same music would even be better if the artist gives his heartblood instead of just a calculation what might sell well. Does Shpongle really sells that well? I vaguely remember that Twisted was not that well off some years ago. I never saw any figures but weren't they selling merchandise and stuff (an expensive Shpongle mask for example?).
-
Actually I don't care if psy is accepted by the masses or not. But I do care if the majority of people at psy parties would be fuck ups. Which would imho be the case if psy gets even more popular. And I don't talk about drugs but about violence, theft and the likes. Which is not the case in Switzerland as far as I can tell (compared to regular parties I mean, you always have idiots who can't behave). I agree about buying instead of downloading. Considering there are a few artists who can live from their gigs and albums this might allready be enough.
-
And why are you interested in that (them making more money)?
-
After 10 years... I finally know what is the best goa track ever! :)
Tatsu replied to Anoebis's topic in General Psytrance
I have to say I can't name one single track as the best. Similar to radi I guess. There are just too many great tracks and I have a hard time picking just one single album. Let alone one track... Anyway, I can't remember having heard the track Aenobis posted so I will check it out. -
Samples sounded nice and not as "standardized" as a lot of other prog releases. Considering it manages to make you happy it should work for me as well.
-
Well, you really know me.... I gave the samples a short listen, it had interesting (interesting as in tripping with it might be cool) parts and so I ordered it. Together with the two Hi Profile albums you mentioned in Draeke's thread. Samples sounded nice too.
-
Very nice suggestion here. I'm a bid sucker for Time In Motion since I saw a them live about two years ago. Unfortunately they don't have an album out (yet?) but only compilation tracks and two EPs. I will immediately check Timedrained out. I haven't even heard of them but if you mention them together with TiM and Nasser they must be great! Thanks exotic!
-
Yes, I got the album. I just give it a listen once since I was not in the mood for banging trance lately. Still, I can say I like it. Think I will bring it to work and listen to it more closely so I can give a real (short) review.
-
Thanks for the tracklist. I'm done with listening the whole thing and I have to say it perfectly fits my taste. It's trancy but still has a psychedelic side. And it's emotional too. Think I will give this a try when tripping the next time... Nice thing is I know some of the songs and artist names but still there is some new stuff for me. Thanks a lot. I hope there will be sequel.
-
I'm listening to the mix right now, nice stuff so far. I'm a sucker for normal trance too... Is there a tracklist availabe? If not, could you name the song playing aroudn 14 minutes and the one after that (I know the second one but I can't remember...).
