  1. Now that's a familiar name, didn't know that...
  2. Beam Me Up is for sure a classic and a great album, I still have to vote for Mechanical Dream. Nice idea for a poll btw, Avi is among my favourite producers and it's nice to see him get some appeciation.

  4. I'm quite stoned and therefor tempted to place a rather big order at discogs for some chill stuff. Like Chilling Matenda, the new Cuba, Chiller Vol. 1 and some more stuff.
  5. Got two new discs: Michele Adamson - Fallen Angel http://www.discogs.com/release/496418 Younger Brother - Last Days Of Gravity http://www.discogs.com/release/1114686
  6. Life Extension - Atomic Circus from the Mysterious Force comp. from Mahogany Records. Absolutely awesome track, very uplifting and trancey. For sure among my favs from that year.
  7. I agree with Somseensee about OOOD's history and stuff, but I have to say I liked the new album too. Also love Jikkentekki's music btw.
  8. - lots of parties around so you can actually choose where to go and what kind of music you hear when you decide to go out - smiling people at parties - still lots of good music to buy (old and new stuff) - big raves with international acts but also small, familiar parties available - meetin up with people from psynews to party!!! - good drugs - it's easier to find psy music to buy - progressive sounds way more interesting to me than it did some years ago - the general atmhosphere at parties - more diversity in the music - buying crepes for breakfast at outdoor parties
  9. I went to the city to buy some tea for a friend and ended up in the local psy shop. I just had to buy these (the second one was halfprice), even when I'm rather broke : v/A - A Magical Journey 2 http://www.discogs.com/release/676229 v/A - Mysterious Force http://www.discogs.com/release/953830
  10. I've just received my Discogs order from him and I can say that Mike is a highly recommendable seller. He shipped the stuff very fast, packing was very good, the prices were a bargain and I've even received some stickers for free (I'm a total sucker for that). Everything went perfect!
  11. I was allready able to pick up the CDs I've ordered from Mike A over Discogs. This is a original album (well, all are originals of course): System Nipel - Deep Into Matter http://www.discogs.com/release/692892 Heard it before and I like it a lot. and here are the promos: v/A - Back To Galaxy http://www.discogs.com/release/563493 I'm listening to this one right now and so far this is totaly the kind of full-on I love. Vibe Tribe - Wise Cracks http://www.discogs.com/release/669535 Haven't heard this one before but Straydog made me curious about it, the review at Discogs also sounds promising. Audiotec - Freakshow http://www.discogs.com/release/639754 Same as the System Nipel album. v/A - Tokyo - Tel Aviv http://www.discogs.com/release/498018 Haven't heard this one before. v/A - Tokyo - Tel Aviv 2 http://www.discogs.com/release/693195 Same as System Nipel and Audiotec. v/A - Pure Imagination 3 http://www.discogs.com/release/607107 Heard it before, nice compilation. v/A - The Natural Waves Of Sound 3 http://www.discogs.com/release/620852 Haven't heard it yet. Visual Contact - La La Land http://www.discogs.com/release/552391 Heard some samples once and wasn't too impressed but since it was cheap I'm ready to give it another try. Ferbi Boys - Twilight Zone http://www.discogs.com/release/639748 Same as System Niple and Audiotec
  12. If we talk about personal classics I can for sure add Ion - Ionizer and Electro Sun - True Blue, they are among the best full-on albums for me.
  13. Neither was I but Oopies description sounds just awesome. Will download it when I'm back home. Have you heard the second New Born release, I wonder how that is?
  14. Yes exactly. I never had lessons about it, just read and heard some stuff. From what I can tell things like those given roles and the outcome of that roles are slowly shifting, and I think this is very interesting.
  15. I can give you a short summary about the theory I'm talking about if you like. How I understand the subject in general (and related to art the study implies the same somehow but as I've said, I really have to read it before I make a final judgement) and other stuff I've heard it it's not that women's brains are degraded because of their social position in the the past. But for example men are used to doing stuff like politics and science since, I don't know exactly but let's say, the 15th or the 17th century (probably even way longer) for example while women are not. Because of that it is imho not a surprise that there are less women that are interested or involved in science and politics right now. It seems (to me at last) that women have to get used to the rather new possibilities they have. Another thing is that in northern europe at last the society was dominated by males during the last few hundreds of years, I mean if you read history books all the conquerors, the military and most of other important figures were males (with some exceptions of course) and besides that there were very clear roles for each gender, some parts of that role still exists, for the better or worse of both genders (like men don't cry and what not). To me it makes actually sense that it takes some times for the women to get used to the new subjects or possibilites since men had way more time to find a way that works for them and pass that knowledge from generation to generation. What backs up that theory for me is that if you see statistics you see more women the longer the more in non-stereotypic roles. And also men in non-stereotype roles like and this is a good thing imho. We're quite far off from the original topic right now but maybe I was finaly able to explain a little bit better what I've meant in my first post anyway...
  16. Because he likes women he can state that "most women don't have imagination"? and make this a fact? Sorry but that's a rather funny point of view. I like women so I can say about them whatever I want and this makes it true? WTF I'm out of here, have fun guys.
  17. What exactly did Ormion missinterpret, could you please explain that?
  18. Twisting his words?! WTF man, that's what he has said, no need to twist it... Sorry but if you generalise a whole gender you don't have to be surprised if people ask to back it up. Especially if you also say that there are studies that proof what you are saying: So if I'm asking about the researches Ormion mentiones I'm a feminazi hero? Way to go... You ask me about a proof I have, read my older post and the link I've posted to the studies I've found on the internet. Sure it's only on the internet but at least I offer something instead of generalising things. And to get back to your question Buzzmann: read the link I've posted. They talk about a similar subject (at least from what I can tell now, I will have to read it when I'm back home) when it comes to the different evolution of males and females. So yes, I do think that it has an effect on the females of today that they don't have the same history as males when it comes to education in the past and what not. And when I say this I'm talking about the general effect it has, not about the effect for the psyscene, we are quite far a way from that.
  19. I agree with both of you here. I know far less women who are as obsessed with electonical music (or music) in general in the same way than guys are. Also if you check parties you see (at least here) more men than women. In psy the ratio is not as extreme as in other forms of electronical music from what I can tell. Still, I can't give an explanation for that. Maybe it's in the different way of thinking and with being interested in more diverted kind of things instead in just one big thing? I really can't tell, especially because I'm rather obsessed with collecting cds and vinyls myself...
  20. I've allready explained in my very first post why I think it's related in a way: Again, do you (Ormion I'm talking to here but if anybody else can help me with it I gladly accept) have any official reports showing that men are more creative than women? I'm googling about the subject and being at work while doing it is not exactly making it easy. Still, so far the gender studies I've found are not backing you up at all... Here is one, I will have to read it at home but how I understand it so far there are differences in the way of being creative but so far nothing is said about one gender being extremely more creative than the other: http://www-usr.rider.edu/~baer/Baer-APA-05.doc I've also downloaded a pdf about the subject called "Self-Repordred Differences in Creativity by Ethnicity and Gender" by James C. Kaufman. I also have to read this when I'm off work but from what I understand after scaning it, it also says that there isn't a gender that is more creative than another. I don't have the link anymore but I can upload it if you want. It might very well be that I just can't find the studies you are talking about since google is no friend of mint but so far I have to say your opinion is a personal opinion and quite far from being an actual fact proved by science.
  21. Imho it's sexist and degrading to say one gender is creative and one is not, same as it would be saying one gender is more intelligent and one is not. I've never heard of any of those researches, care to post a link or something or give me at least a name of a report so I can google myself? I'm very curious to read about those researches and to make up my mind. And btw. I did give one of the reasons why I think there are less women in music business than men, I also think the number will increase with time.
  22. The famous ones are in the minority, that's for sure. But again: does being famous alone means you are creative? Have you thought about the possibility that maybe less women than men have the urge to get big with what they are doing instead of just doing it for the sake of it or for their own pleasure? Women are also known (since we're talking in chlichées here) to have a sense for decoration or professions like hairdressers or make-up artists, of course professiones where you don't have to be creative at all. So far your only back up for your theory of who's creative and who's not is that you think it is that way and because of that it's a fact. Not exactly convicening, maybe even a big ignorant. And before you get back at me with that: I'm not saying that men are less creative than women, I'm just saying being creative has fucking nothing to do with gender at all. Sames as being intelligent hasn't btw.
  23. Well, if you say all women or just 95% doesn't make much of a difference to me, sorry. Btw I'm not saying that men and women are the same or even think the same, they are not and they don't have to be. But just because men and women behave different or think in a different way does not mean the can't have the same talents in the end. Again, do you have anything to back you statement up? Are there no female writes, painters, poets or musician in your world? Or is the percentage (as example) of male writers to female writes 80% - 20%? When I go in a library that's quite far from that, and I'm talking about the fiction department here and not about cookbooks.
  24. There's nothing wrong with somebody having no imagination or with somebody not being able to study a certain subject becuause he is not intelligent enough. You say it yourself: some people are better with arts, some are better with sports and some are better with science but saying that this has to do with gender and that all women are good with the same things is imho simply not true. Do you have anything to back up your statement that women don't have imagination besides that fact that there are less women in music than men? As if attending a music class or knowing how to use a synthesizer or how to play a musical instrument alone makes you more creative... From what I can tell there are a lot of women writing, drawing, painting, or making music (maybe not electronical music) including making their own songs. Maybe they are not as famous as some male counterparts (I'm talking about creative work in general, not music only) but does only being famous label you as creative then? Mabye people (or at least I) would not label you as sexist if you could back your statement up a bit.
