Kinda funny to read that from a member who is known to get off on Eskimo tracks...
-
Just made it to listen to the first four tracks, the forth is the best so far, really like it.

Had this in the mail today: Kaya Project - Elixier http://www.discogs.com/release/540069

What music are you listening to right now?

Pleiadians - Taygeta -
I'll give it another try then but I'm more into full-on like Space Cat or the stuff from the Positive Alchemists compilations.
-
Moved to the trade section.

I'm not really sure about the different genres of ambient so I've played save and voter for melodic of any kind, that always fits. I like stuff like Shpongle or Enthogenic but also Kuba, Ott, Kukan Dub Lagan and Khooman. As long as something is happening I'm fine with it.
-
Absolutely awesome goa mix, I love it! The trackselection is very good and so is the mixing (at least from my amateurisch point of view ). Id' kill to hear a set like that at a party. Now looking if I can find some more of your sets here, keep up the good work!!!
-
I've checked the sample and even when I'm a full-on lover I'm not too impressed to be honest. Sounds pretty standart to me.

Sorry, my bad then. Still, 70% as figure without any other proof than your rule is not exactly what I would call a fact. To me it seems more like a generalisation for the oh so well-known point of view that people who listen to more commercial music automaticaly don't have a clue about real music or are just in it to be in the in-crowd. And to answer your original question: it's pretty easy to say that DJs seem to be more important since they got a direct feedback from the crowd while producers, as long as they don't play live or dj themselves, don't. I still think that most people in a party crowd know better and not only credit the DJ if he plays a good tune but also wanna know who actually created it.
-
How did you come up with the figure of 90%? I've been to a fair share of big raves out of the psy scene and even when there were enough peopel that weren't really into the music and just partyed because it's the thing to do, most people actually have (sometimes even too) high expetations on a well-known DJ and know at least the basics of that he is up to.

Imho the point of the random quirks, as you call them, is that (some) people think it's cool to push the boundaries as soon as they see that the moderation is not that strict anymore. And then if the moderation starts again they can't take it. Sure, a very strict moderated forum would us all prevent from that but it's also not what the majority wants so we have to find another way to get along.

I’ve found a lot of old Mini-Discs with my mixes when I was cleaning my appartment and since my Mini-Disc player is still working I can even transfere them to my MP3-player. Stuff from house to trance and of course also goa and psy. Here I present the first part of my Alice In Wonderland Chronicles: The Cheshire Cat Mix. It starts with a Shpongle tune for the intro and then pure old-school goa bliss: 1) Shpongle – Divine Moments Of Truth 2) Jaia – Mai Mai 3) Indoor – Sweet Coming Home 4) Mystica - Jamaraqui 5) Chi-Ad – Liquid Neon Sky 6) Doof - Angelina 7) MFG – Shape The Future 8) Marmion – Schöneberg (MWNN Remix) 9) Blue Planet Corporation - Xoco 10) Datura – Yerba Del Diablo Unfortunately I can’t present you the cover anymore since the pics (at least the jpgs) are lost on my old and no longer working PC. The mix is about 70 minutes long and was done with two CDJs 100 and it's not really beatmixed since I can’t beatmix for shit... And here’s the link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YZR0J1R3 DJ Tatsu - The Catterpillar mix And here it comes, the second chapter of the Alice In Wonderland Chronicles. The first one was pure old-schol goa, this time it’s psytrance. Not as cheesy as usual but still more melodic than progressive. It was done with CDs and with the help of a beatcounter: 1. Deedrah - Reload 2. Xerox & Freeman vs. Liquid Metal – In My Brain 3. SKB - Druckverteiler 4. Cydonia – Bass Monster 5. Psysex – On A Mission Remix 6. Prometheus - Cambodia 7. Infected Mushroom – Never Ever Land 8. Zorba feat. Chicago – Into (And Through) The Vortex 9. Private Taste - First 10. Vatos Locos – Playa Del Carma 11. Human Blue – Dream Creator 12. Chi-Ad – Spirit 13. I-Zen – Voices 14. Silent Sphere - + 2 Fahrenheit 15. Subconsciousmind - Childhood And here’s the link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JUD4V22H

That's my point of view too. I just tend to believe that this is not really possible here with some peoplel. even with nearly no moderation people tend to whine about most if not all actions that are taken. With that a balanced view, also for us mods, is not exactly easy to get.
-
Same reason as above stated maybe?
-
Maybe you should think WHY some mods are not present that much anymore. Sure, some like DP and moni actually got a life but to be honest I'm not exactly feeling like posting much when there is mainly chatting going on in the off topic instead of discussions. If I wanna chat I go to chatroom or open my messenger... I'm not saying you (people in general) have to change their ways but if you demand that everybody and their pets participate too I have to disagree. Btw. it would really do you good to listen to moni and open up your own forum just to see what happens.

I've just rediscovered an awesome emotional song when I put my MP3-player on random: Tri-Force - Longing / Love (Moondance Remix). The second melody that is played on the piano after the break is just so beautiful it's unbelievable.
