Psilo is right, Full-on used to be used to describe energtic intense tracks, but it seems to me that Full-on is most often used these days to describe that new breed of Psy that some would say is not true psy or goa at all (but I won't go there). This new style uses a distinctive chunky baseline, is very driving, and is dance floor oriented with a lot of dramatic breaks and ecstatic peaks. Some of it is derivative rubbish, but some of it is pure joy, in my opinion. Astrix and Alien Project are two Full-on artists, but there are many nowadays (Dynamic, Melicia, Safi Connection, Atomic Pulse, Silicon Sound, Psydrop, and the list goes on and on...).

Could it be by Eskimo? I thought heard something about that on Isratrance, but I can't remember the details anymore.

Mmm, yes. Utopia and Liquid Sun are both very good as well. It's impossible to pick just one. On a off-topic note, I did like their last album, but it just didn't have the power of those magical older tracks. It's a shame they don't make those kind anymore. It seems with all musical artists that they hit a wall somewhere in their career where the creative juices just don't flow like they used to. Simon Posford kind of re-ivented himself with Shpongle and by working with others. I wish AP would try something like that...

I'll narrow it down to three: People Can Fly Dancing Galaxy Nilaya

I like a bit of variety on compilations (or albums), but it's good when the tracks have a similar feel or overall theme, if you know what I mean. The problem with mixing it up like having some full-on, some minimal, some tech trance all on one album is: what if you hate full-on or tech trance (for example)? You always have to skip those tracks, and it feels like you wasted your money. Also, I tend to put on different albums for different sounds depending on my mood. So to sum up, in my opinion, it's best to have similar theme or overall sound, but the tracks shouldn't sound exactly the same or use all the same sounds. A bit of variety within a theme is perfect (a really good chillout track can help with this). I think the Nano compilations do a good job of not souding the same but not being all over the map either.

It's revolving, but some things listed on the site are out of print so they won't come back in. D5 - second phaze was released by two different labels at different times and both of them have gone under so it's hard to find. If you look around you might find a copy still in somewhere. Saiko is not the only place by any means. Man With No Name and Astral should come back in over time. Pleiadians I dunno. I got my copy from A&B sound online (http://www.absound.ca/). The delivery time was ridiculously long but it came eventually, so that might be worth a try. If you've lived in Van for a few years you are probably familiar with them. Acutally, A&B sound downtown often has most of the Astral Projection albums in stock (not Trust in Trance though) for around $22 CAD. They also have some stuff on Twisted like Shpongle and Hallucinogen. For the older stuff you can always keep and eye out on Ebay.

Organix runs a a psytrance night every friday in club in downtown Vancouver. Check the following site for info on that and more: http://organixproductions.com/ Also, check this site too as they are another local group who puts on events sometimes (although not that often lately): http://www.deliria.org/ And don't worry about asking Saiko to write demo on the shipment because in my experience they do it all the time without asking!

If you live in Vancouver, I reccomend Saikosounds also. If you order on Sunday, sometimes you can get it by Friday. Also if you order by airmail and keep the shipments to 4 items or less, you mostly don't pay duty! The specialized online shops beat any generic music site for selection anyday. Just keep to the reputable ones like the ones already listed in this post. For Astral Projection, I reccomend Trust in Trance (a.k.a. Trust in Trance 3), or Dancing Galaxy. Infact, you really must have both. For MFG, it's a no brainer in my opinion. You must get New Kind of World. Hands down their best album. The Prophecy is good also, but sounds a bit dated in places. For Infected Mushroom, I can't help you cause I'm not much of a fan of their work. I'll leave that to someone else. Also try Jaia: Blue Synergy. And check out Organix if you haven't already (like Mike said)! Good luck.

He's been way off the mark for a long time. This is not news. Matsuri went to shit a long time ago when he started releasing shit. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, of course. And his newer stuff may appeal to some, but for me, I have avoided anything that guy is associated with for years now because it's not psy and it's not that good otherwise. It's mostly dull, experimental, and annoying. It's a shame because he used to make and mix nice cd's. My favorite track by him is "Alien Pets." That was a wicked song.

I've been wondering the same thing. I guess we'll have to just wait.

Cycles of Life is wicked track. I also liked the Land of Freedom remix on the last Deedrah album. I think Deedrah is releasing a new album soon. Perhaps it will have a Cycles of Life remix on it?

Trancentral 4 - A Trip to Goa... the second disc on that one is mixed and it was pretty good. I don't like mixed CD's anyway. I won't buy them anymore (unless it's a two disc compilation with one unmixed CD in it).

Simon Posford and Raja Ram are working on their 3rd release!

Hopefully nothing like the tracks on either Crystal Skulls compilation... yack! The more it is like the first the better in my opinion, but I expect it will be more in the direction of the second. -
Yeah, Step by Step fuckin rocks. I had the same feeling listening to the samples. Doesn't sound that inspring. Tough call though. I'll check out that Magnet compilation 'cause I'd like to have Breath--it sounds gr8!
-
Yeah, the first compilation I bought was a double CD on Fairway. One cd was mixed by Tsuyoshi and the other by Sid Shanti. Ohhh there were some great great tracks on there like: Transwave: MDMA, Encens: Venus Zen, Witchcraft: Magic Frequencies, Highscore: True Freedom, some old Etnica, and so on. It's a shame that label is gone. I'd love to get a copy of that compilation again just for old times sake.

In 1996 I heard "A Voyage Into Trance mixed by Danny Rampling" (while on mushrooms). Soon after, I got a compilation and... Astral Projection - Trust in Trance!!!
-
I've listened to the samples and Breath sounds pretty good... but the rest...? Can anyone give a short review? The only recent track I've heard by them is Step by Step and I love that one. Is the album like that?
-
If you'll pay for shipping, it's a deal.

I got this album a while ago, and so far I'm really dissappointed. The comments I saw were all favorable, and the samples made it sound good, but now that I have it, most of it seems dreadfully dull. Like I said, the samples sounded good, but how was I to know that most of the tracks are exactly like the samples all the way through with precious little variation or energy. Granted the first couple of tracks are pretty cool, but after that they all sound like one long plodding minimal emotionless track. I've only heard it about 4 times, so I may change my opinon (I hope that it grows on me), but so far... I want my money back.

The sleeper must awake is definately much older than their latest album. It was released on "Israel's Psychedelic Trance" back in '96 around the time of their first album. From some things I've read, I think it's quite possible there won't be another MFG album. Although, I think one half of MFG is still making tracks as Passenger?

There was once in the last year or two when I heard Dancing Galaxy while on the dance floor. I couldn't stop smiling. That song instantly puts me in a good mood. I wasn't the only one either. The place went wild. I also like to hear Jaia while dancing. Always a nice surprise! Mmm... Breathing Ocean...Brainstorm...Mai Mai...Sentances to Heaven...
-
Oh, anything but Mahadeva '99. I think the 96 mix was best, followed by the original, but I agree with Lemmi, it's a tune that has been way overplayed and over released. BUT I'm always happy to hear some good old Astral in a set. Why not play some other tracks though like Ionized or Cosmic Ascension or Utopia... ?

Part of the sentiment surrounding Kox Box reminds me a lot of how people rave about Hallucinogen--that is, it's a bit on the elitist side, and anyone who admits to not liking it is dealt with as though they are just too dumb and not a sophisticated enough listener to really appreciate REAL music cause everyone knows that all other styles or artists are just for simpletons. This turns me off in a huge way. Having said all that, I think Kox Box has made some really excellent tracks, especially on Forever After. There are also some very nice tracks on Dragon Tales, but there is also some totally chaotic rubbish on there too---> in my opinion Anyway, the Saikopod album rocks, and for me, that album was like Sandman's Green House Effect album, it proved that they are talented artists that can really produce a range of quality music. My final point is, quite often these artists that people rave about don't appeal to me (or to others I suppose) not because the artists aren't talented or good at making cool sounds and arranging them in creative ways, but more because the atmosphere or overal mood of it just doesn't fit my tastes. For that reason, I don't much like Hallucingen, but I do like Shpongle. Hallucingen tracks tend to be too raspy and acidic and thin sounding for me, but there's no question the guy knows how to make good tracks, so whatever. To each their own.

I think you can get all the Schlabbaduerst Compilations on their website.
