I'm downloading it now. I'm sure it will be good as the rest have been. And that Samothraki'd mix really does have some wicked tracks in it!

It's only about the music for me. All that matters to me is that I have it on CD. Plus, they say it will be remastered, which may be a good or bad thing; I'm not sure.

Avatar's website says they will re-release The Infinity Project - Mystical Experiences "soon." (whatever soon means?) Good news! I almost paid over $30 dollars for this on ebay a while ago. Glad I didn't!

I saw some porno once that had Hallucinogen tracks playing in the background.

Well, I'm not shpongle worshiper, but I do like shpongle, and it may very well be true that it's just "a bunch of copy-pasted loops from well-known ethnic music, with a bit of special effects and psychedellicness added to it, and of course, Raja Ram's flute on top." However, I would argue that it has more than just "a bit" of special effects, and it's definitely very psychedelic. Furthermore, I would agree with Towelie that shpongle really fits together to create a really nice trippy overall sound, and most importantly for me, when I listen to it, I don't find myself cringing while listening to that god awful singing that's in most Entheogenic tracks. I actually wouldn't mind their music so much if it didn't having that awful voice in most tracks. I mean they do have a couple of nice songs, so I think they must be capable.

Well, many good points djcl.ear, but back to the original question, these days I think the term full-on really does have a widely used and understood meaning. Generally, it seems to be used these days to describe the new brand of psytrance that uses that astrix-like baseline and combines it with a few catchy melodies (or bouncy sounds) to make a really energetic dancefloor friendly track or album. I'm talking about artists like Astrix, Atomic Pulse, Melicia, Dynamic, Safi Connection, and so on, and so on. In fact, there are countless albums and artists like this out there now, and the sound is very recognizable and distinctive, and until this sound became so popular, I think it's true that full-on was used as an adjective to describe a track or album that was "full tilt" and very energetic and maybe even a bit crazy without neccessarily being from any one particular recognizable sound or style. So what are the differences between full-on and the rest of psytrance? Well, listen to some full-on (it's very easy to tell most of the time), then listen to various non-full-on psytrance and you will see. Full-on is always energetic, uses "that" baseline, may not be that psychedelic, tends to feature a lot of dramatic quick breaks and builds and peaks, usually isn't that complex, and usually makes the dancefloor come alive. Psytrance that is not full-on may have some of those characteristics but not all of them, but it can be hard to categorize sometimes. It's all so subjective. I agree with Lepton: full-on is stuff like "silicon sound, talamasca, and all isreali powertrance."

Because I like it.

Yeah, exactly like the first album. Entheogenic is like a semi-psychedelic version of enigma.

For me, if I could only pick one: Astral Projection - Trust in Trance

Hmmm... given what you have said about those other albums, I suspect MWNN will disappoint you. Anyway, I wasn't saying those albums had the impact the classics did, or that they were pure oldschool goa, just that they were enough that way that I can personally appreciate them. Anyway, I have no desire to argue about whether an album really is oldschool or not. I do agree that Contact isn't nearly as good as Cosmology or Synergy, but it's better than Dissociation and quite good none the less. I actually like Green Ohms much better than GNOTR - Rock Bitch, but I'm sure most wouldn't agree.

Ya, those were the days. Back in '74 & '75. Man, back then I used to go to parties just to fight and get totally fucked on paint thinner and rat poison. To get to parties, you had to run uphill in driving rain, with no clothes on, over jagged rocks with at least two swords and 4 axes while balancing a large angry cat on your head. I mean it was scarry just phoning to get directions to the party! By the time you got there you were drunk, bloody, angry, scarred shitless, and ready dance all night to good wholesome horror trance with a handful of totally close minded, fucked up, die hard, horror trancers. Ah, but those times have gone now. The kids these days just have no idea, eh?

How about: Green Ohms - Coming Through in Waves Cosmosis - Contact Man With No Name - Interstate Highway Electric Universe - Unify ? These may not be quite as inspirational as the classics but are still very good with quite a bit oldschool flavour and are just a few examples. I don't think Ra was the last oldschool or oldschool-like album at all.

That should be Bleeeeeeeeeaaaaaach. Not bleach. Dammit! I'm not doing laundry here.
-
Well uhhh, that's all fine and dandy, but what about some good horror psy trance? I mean nobody ever talks about this stuff anymore! I think horror psy trance is dying. It's so sad. Did you know that "www.horrorpsynews.org" has shifted to a mostly forum based site? It's all over now I tell you. Does anyone know anybody making any scary evil dark horror trance, eh? Help me out here.

Mmm... well the Protoculture tracks I have heard are probably the most Israeli sounding South African trance I have heard (which is not a problem for me). Actually, I'd say Protoculture reminds me a lot of Silicon Sound & Astrix.
-
Yes I can't wait for the Protoculture. It should be good...well let's hope so

I don't miss Ra. That was the most god awful CD ever (and I like oldschool goa!). The samples. Oh my GOD! Cheddar city. Bleach. I sold my copy and I'm soooo glad.
-
Had it occured to you that it might not be his fault? That he might have nothing to do with the whole thing? I mean anyone can say "so and so will be at a party" and then just say "oh he missed the plane."
-
I think he might be joke in, but I'm not sure.
-
He, he... well krime he wins either way, eh?
-
Yes they do.
-
I was thinking the same thing EA. Mind you, the expectations are going to be so high by that time that it had better at least be very good if not brilliant, or the reviews will be scathing.

I like it just the way it is. I can buy my CD's online, and I can go to a local club night on Fridays and love every minute of it, and I can go to the occasional party along some dirt road with like 100-200 people, and that's all I need. I'd rather that than some big nasty rave in a stadium featuring Paul Oakenfuck and his legions of meatmarket trend following losers who would all look perfectly at home in a gay Gap commercial. No thanks. Small and unknown is just fine. Well actually, I could do with the occasional live act, but whatever... Maybe one day when I have more cash I'll travel a bit and go to some of these festivals all you Euros are always going to.
