Stalker replied to Psychocell's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Yes its pretty much this. Practice a litlle untill you get what you want Unfurtonely i dont use Reason so i cant give you the precise steps to this I also dont know how the Reason EQ works Every equalizer has difrent precision, power and quality I will do some research on how the Reason EQ works to try to explain it better -
Making a groovy psychedelic bassline
Stalker replied to Psychocell's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Its not exactly like that. There is no standart psytrance bassline imo. This example you told is just one of the many forms you can do a bassline I guess that psychocell was asking tips for more heavy powerfull basslines, and they are usually not made with Audiorealism. and besides he cant use that on Reason, because VST doesnt work on Reason. Its a standalone program Reason native synths is capable of doing great basslines on its own. There is the controversial tip of creating a sub-bass. What you do is to pick up a bass and decide in wich key will be, and then you do the line, edit, etc untill you get what you want Now to give this more power you create another excatly equal bassline track. So, now you have two identical basslines playing together. What you do now its to edit the frequencies of both in order they "match" each other. Basically you cut all the low frequencies and give life on the mid and high freq of one bass and cut all the mid and high freq and leaving only the low freq of the other bass. Also it is pointless to use a bass patch whose energy lies only below 40 Hz, because most home systems will not play sounds that low in frequency and thats mainly unwanted sounds. so take care of that area and cut, if it has too. You need to make sure bass has a lot going on in the 70-90 Hz frequency range, because thats where the punch sound is. Remenber that everytime you layer something, you should wacth for the frequencies crash...also have in mind that this is a complicated operation. You can really screw a bass line doing that, but some people can do magic using this stuff -
Lucky girl She already has her own song...thats nice

I tried a lot of free synths on the last three months, and i mean a LOT......Now i only use two of then. The others i couldnt find any real use The two i use is: Green Oak Crystal and Ugo Texture. Those are superb free synths...Especially ugo wich is easy, and great for atmosphere, and for dark weird effects too and its CPU friendly Crystal is more complicated and heavy...but the quality is among the best if not the best free synth out there in terms of sound quality and editing Looks like a free version of Absynth Now there is another one called Synth1 wich i think you would like it. Its free, very easy, CPU friendly, and its great for arpegios I dont use much all of those synths can be find to here for info and dowload http://www.kvraudio.com/ratings/9.html about samples i dont know much about for effects...i dont use samples for that...most for percussion I know two free packages of samples, but i dont think you would like that, they are for techno artists

Yes Its an experiment...i will have to explain it later
-
Thanks Do you think that the first one is lacking of power?
-
Hey radi The leads are allright on its own. imo they dont fill in well with the kick and bass. I think those two needs better treatment. Somehow they are too low in volume and power and this can be easily resolved Is nothing really drastic Now, i know you are trying the recreate the feeling of oldscholl where the kick and bass doesnt really matter right? but try some experiments on it to see how it goes Try to keep the idea to use then as background for you leads, melodies, fx etc, but give them more "presence" I think this would fit nice on this track Overall its good

You dont get it, do you prio? You dont have the right to use that custom tittle. Sure, you thought it was funny when you heard it, but that doesnt mean anything if it wasnt for me, that phrase wont not even exist, and i would be damn to see some swedish boy stole my homage just because he thought it was funny!

Great feedback Icarus I see what you mean by the stereo field thing....

If there was one tip I would pass on to another pc
Stalker replied to Stalker's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I agree entirely I mean, i am newbie myself, but i know ho much you can get by discipline. I never even start about starting something before finish it what i am doing at the moment. Its very important to sticky with it, no matter how much work it provides You have to put yourself a goal and dont give up untill you get what you want.... Excelent advice Colin Its also good to give yourself a couple of days before starts another track...just to clear up your mind trust me another good one is: Before thinking about being a successful musician, think about being a successful music student Even if you are completly auto-didactic, you have to learn how to learn Gather your information together, read as much as you can, and most important...be organized. Set yourself objects, chalenges, deadlines etc.... Go after subjects you dont get it and dont give up untill you get it. Practice leads to knowloge, but is not everything. Your practice "time" will be much more usefull if you know what is in front of you.... So, thats my advice for another fellow pc musician....Know your shite -
Hey dajek, let me try to help you 1- You need to put your tracks first at the format of .wma wich basically means windows media player format. Your first track has to be on this format. Only then you can put mp3 files for dowload. In order to put a track of yours in .wma format you need a wave editor like Soundforge, wavelab etc. 2- You can change the name of your project if you want it. Just go "edit profile name"
