  1. Personally, I hate vocals in trance. Exception have been cropping up however. Often in surprising places, sometimes not so much. For example, I am charmed by the vocals on that one track on Lish's new album. Cheezy, isn't it? That song sort of spoke to me about a relationship of mine from a little while back. I suppose that's the way in for soppy nonsense such as that. Something of the same reasoning applies to Le Lascard from the new Antix. Yeah, I'm not sure which way to go a lot of the time. I sort of hum along with that track and it's cathedral vibes and it takes me places. Totally surprising, this reaction of mine, honest. I guess these words have more potential for meaning to be read in them than some others. Take, for example, that Sub6 (or was it Psysex?) track with the "bang bang go to your room" vocals or whatever it was. That's stupid. Or IM's various nonsense lyrics - run run run to the cities of the future, take what you can and bring it back home or some shit? I just could not for the life of me read anything deep into this crap. Le Lascard's lyrics are really simple and sparsely used... just as trance is a universal language left open to interpretation, these more basic arrangements of words leave one with some room to relate - to any number of things in one's own life. Vocals aren't just another pretty instrument unless it's nonsense sing-song stuff like in Shpongle. If there are lyrics, it's really going to make or break a tune. I am babbling again, look at that. Ha.
  2. This is a topic about mixing in key... I wrote a lot of crazy stuff here, got some tips, researched heavily, and now know a LOT more. Thanks
  3. Haha, this again. I deem this to be an average release, thus the 5/10.

  5. I just BLAST IT at home... arrrrr *smash*
  6. I have Skomm's Aztec Challenge... I bet few people have even heard of that one Also Keltik - Liquid. Selling both!
  7. Psytrance hasn't released maturity until someone remixes "Do ya think I'm sexy" by whats-his-name - that bloke with the hair that looks like a potted plant sprouting on his head. Of course if they're gonna take the vocals it had better be from the Revolting Cocks version. Haha.

  9. Surprisingly it's a freebie at saikosounds if you make a $100 order! Check that out...
  10. It's no wonder you think highly of Cinos... mind you, he's what - 17? I think this is saying something about your character, Mr. Kristian Argument
  11. I have a soft spot for Blue Monday.
  12. I'm about to throw it on ebay but I think someone from psynews wanted this one... anyone?
  13. Newsflash: reviews are subjective. Some people have a better yardstick than others. I stand by mine. Ratings are useful considering there are many more reviews than there are releases out there - and that number is already quite high. They aren't the most important piece of content - otherwise why write any words at all? - but they serve as a valuable guideline and quick reference for review readers. If I give a release an 8 or higher, people should pay attention
  14. Logic Bomb's release of Headware was one of the more celebrated releases at the time of its release. They deserve more credit than you are offering, Cinos. No one needs to prove anything to you...
  15. No comp at all? It makes sense if the vast majority of releases score 4, 5, or 6 out of 10. That's average! But you can't be serious that there are no really good compilations coming out these days - every once in a while anyway. A Day After comes to mind... that one's brilliant. As for this one... it's better than what they've been putting out for a while!
  16. Fuck X-Noize. And the remix you're looking for is Bulletproof - Tainted Love, found on a limited 12" vinyl with Blue Monday on the opposite side. I prefer the Painted Dove version however, as those vocals are REALLY annoying.
  17. Isn't there already a topic on this in the general forum? Notice how when a group drops their full name and goes on as an acronym they turn to crap? Growling Mad Scientists -> GMS, Elysium Project -> you get the picture *jab, friendly jab*
  18. Dino's remix to Blue Monday that just came out is far superior imho. Although one must ask what time we live in when the artists feel it necessary to give us a choice between 80s remixes... heh. Anyway, it sorta makes this album irrelevant. Where's the Cosmosis of old? I'd enjoy if they did some more chill-out stuff, or the more jazzy/bluesy style he's touched on in the past.
  19. FINALLY finished my review of it http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=25646 Go throw your two cents in... I realized just how much I love this album after playing it like 20 times to get the words to come out! <3
