  1. I concur on Cyberion, but any way you look at it - this is the kind of stuff you give away for free on the net, not something you print to CD unless it's for promotional purposes... and we have enough of those releases already. This, coming from an old school fan. I suggest exploring alternate distribution concepts.
  2. I like it. (killer review d00d)
  3. I've listened to it maybe ten times... ultimately it's very bland imho. The only thing that stands out is the Blue Monday remix, and even that is a bit too "poppy" for my tastes (and there are better remixes of that tune out there anyway). I don't know how Cosmosis lost their magic, but like many of you, my impression of their albums has steadily descended through the years... if Cosmosis won't seek some depth, at least knock the fun factor up a level and get some totally out of control bass lines on the go or something. Where's that Intergalactic Fluoro Funkster now? Sipping on a latte at Starbucks, evidently.

    V/A - Outsider

Hmm, is this maybe too progressive for my taste these days? I've had this on every once in a while this week, and fail to generate any sort of a reaction. Will keep at it though, I thought I should like this...
  5. I keep trying but I just cannot get into this.
  6. Sounds rather dull and sterile. Spotless Mind is ironically good, more depth to be heard. A Team is cheeky but somehow more appealing for having some distinct elements. Much of the rest is just bland - or even spiced with a hint of "Zombie Nation" if you know what I mean. I was excited to read that they had done a remix to Born Slippy but I'm disappointed after hearing it... it doesn't take off at any point - which is what I want a psy remix to an old rave classic to do! Meh, another mediocre Spun release.
  7. Talamasca's Odyssey is weighing in at 22:02!
  8. Hmm, I'm mostly with Cinos here. Hotaka is rather dull - I kept wanting to buy it because I like tribal sounds with a dancefloor application but even with those remixes I just couldn't make myself do it. Dull! Shango also has some mediocre points, but nothing specifically bad comes to mind... one or two tracks on BTI have a bad moment or two... and I never have been able to get into Transmissions... I am developing the opinion that the new album is their finest work to date... or at the very least, since Bible of Dreams... which I only began to like after years of being into this music (I did not find that album remotely accessable)...
  9. Hey guys, bittorrent is a snap to setup
  10. Consider this mix a tribute to the dark futuristic mood of tech noir, an artistic style of literature and film best known from the movie Blade Runner. Once again, this is the product of many months of track selection and conceptual germination. The flow of the set is programmed like a descent, from the synthetic progressive grooves that nonchalantly begin the tale, through increasingly mechanical techtrance sounds, into the deepest realms of richly cinematic psychedelic techno. A trio of increasingly atmospheric tracks lead the mix to a thoughtful conclusion. Tracklist: 01 :: Nyquist - Flatline [Plusquam] 02 :: Sativa - Clean Machine [b.P.F.] 03 :: La Baaz - Scrool [sub.machine] 04 :: Lunaspice - Melodeep [Cold Groove] 05 :: Phony Orphants - Global Wonderground (Llopis Remix) [iboga] 06 :: Tetraktys - Migration [sub.machine] 07 :: Spirallianz - Bitnapped [spirit Zone] 08 :: Ticon - We Are the Mammoth Hunters (BLT Remix) [Hom-Mega] 09 :: Sensient - Sublime [Groove Zone] 10 :: Tetraktys - Quiet [Aeon] 11 :: Opsis - Just Like Breathing [Headstick] 12 :: X-Dream - Psychomachine (Midi Miliz Remix) [Moonflower] 13 :: Juno Reactor - Mutant Message [Metropolis] 14 :: Kiwa - Lahti Skyline [surreal Audio] 15 :: Vangelis - Damask Rose [Warner] 256k mp3 .torrent (142 megs) (for information on how to use .torrent files see bittorrent.com) * CD quality mix available for burning...
  11. I pummel you with sarcastic pants. Ketuh hasn't released anything worth owning yet, in my harsh view. Farting parrots indeed! One Soul is dope...
  12. What, Spun and Tip world aren't dodgy? Crack from what universe have you been smoking? A whole Gappeq album huh... now maybe there's a Ketuh release I'd buy!
  13. This group is mega-fucking-awesome. Why must they release singles on dodgy compilations?
  14. Ordinary party music.
  15. I've got the same taste... never really liked Fractal Glider, although so many old school fans are crazy about his work... can't please everyone I guess Once in a while a FG track does it for me, like "Things that go Bump in the Night" but the interest wears off, like with the usual full-on stuff, such that I don't retain that interest over time... too bad, seems like many enjoy this sound over and over but it does sound like it lacks something, for some reason...
  16. Cosmosis - Cosmology = written by Bilbo & Laughing Buddha Cosmosis - Synergy = less collaboration, Laughing Buddha goes solo, sound changes Integalactic had some good material but anything since - nah, doesn't really strike a chord with me. I was really happy to find that someone had finally taken on Blue Monday, but the results are iffy (not bad but not a great sound for that cover - Wizzy should do it!)... - 0.02$

    Cosmic tone - wake up

Same thing, over and over again.
  18. Sounds as if they're going all Geomantik on us Entheogenic are some of the finest psychedelic ambient producers on the scene these days... the comparisons to Shpongle are unfair - they have their own thing going on .
  19. Basilisk

    Shift - Excession

All I had to hear was the Closer remix and it was on it's way from Hong Kong to Toronto in an instant... that is such raw uninhibited badness, I couldn't say no. I suppose the rest of the album may grow on me, but to have that significant old classic from my youth turned into an intense high-energy piece of ripping hard psytrance, oh fuck yes. Shift rocks!
  20. DROIDLOCK - ELEFANTRONIKA Surprise of the year so far... WHO would have ever thought Droidlock of all artists would come out with some neo-Goa trance?!@#
  21. It was easy to search cuz I could just go type "Overlap" in the search box at bottom left and wham - every release with an Overlap track mentioned gets popped up. Real easy. Try it now - you'll find it doesn't work from the same place. You can't even click on 'reviews' to get to that forum group and then search from the box - it still comes up empty because the default search doesn't look into sub-forums. Bad design! Secondly, I don't think the organization of the reviews makes this forum special, really. It is a different atmosphere here, that's what is good about it. I don't mind reviewing casually, and many others don't either. It makes for more open discussion of the music. Like I said - once the new database is in place it would be great to switch, but... before the current setup, the 'one big review forum' was working very well for the site. My 2 cents, elaborated.
