    BORING

Pfft, the only one going down is your mother
  2. You're making your age very apparent Red status in psynews review section totally earned: Hallucinogen - Twisted / The Lone Deranger Cosmosis - Cosmology Astral Projection - Dancing Galaxy Koxbox - Dragon Tales Juno Reactor - well, whatever! MFG - New Kind of World X-Dream - We Created our own Happiness (1997 was a good year!) Jaia - Blue Energy Not as good as advertised: California Sunshine (in general) Paradise Connection Etnica - Juggling Alchemists Prana - Cyclone Total Eclipse - Violent Relaxation Miranda Should have been a classic (i.e., great but it isn't red!): Koxbox - Forever After Ololiuqui's debut Total Eclipse - Delta Aquarids Transwave - Phototropic Deviant Electronics - Brainwashing is Child's Play Morphem - Out of Focus Orion - Futuristic Poetry Pigs in Space (just a few)
  3. Personally I think Stereopark is a great piece of work... richly atmospheric, featuring several great tunes. Battlejuice is the anthemic stand-out, but I think I like the Fuser best... Soulprint is a great drifting tune, and the first two - Hide and Seek / Bitnapped - are also bloody excellent. The little creeping noises in the title track is dope as well. In essence, it's an album with many strengths!

    BORING

Whatever - the fact is, good music is ALWAYS buried... some of it rises to the top, but the rest you need to seek out, and this is true of any decade. You look back on Goa trance and it all seems so golden but what you forget is the countless horrible releases that no one bothers to remember any more. If you can't find good modern psychedelic sounds I pity you - there's so much greatness happening nowadays.
  5. Threw "Weird Egg" on again today... damn, has this track ever stood up to the test of time... it's from the V/A Holy Mushroom, or the vinyl single (Nuts Without Sugar on the flipside, 3rd Ear recs I Believe)... if you have not heard it and you enjoy dark old school Goa, go grab this somewhere today! ...electronics have brought an enourmous new feel to... music...
  6. High-energy bomb to start up a set (love the intro)... then it takes off!
  7. What?! Get the CD... half of the fun is the great segues between tracks... I've been playing this one a LOT at home, which is very rare for a dark psy release... it's been very enjoyable. The group is clearly capable of so much more, but this is still a great debut. If they continue to follow a creative and artistic path they'll be at the forefront of psychedelic trance in due time...
  8. Oh yeah, you guys know about www.psyfreaks.ca and www.rave.ca right? Lots of montreal party info there...
  9. I'm no artist, but I'll be playing in montreal on the 30th of april come out! The party is called Volcano...
  10. Psychopod - Universal Mind... some people call it the positive mind... the universal mind...
  11. Above average full-on, better than the rest for sure. Wizzy Noise drops a huge bomb on this one!! I love how the last big rush is such a Blue Monday sort of vibe...

  14. Let me tell ya, the new comp from LPS is kicking my ass. Symptoms of Compliance is like one big NRS collaborative project, full of goodies. I find myself preferring the hard UK style to what the Danes are up to simply because these guys remember that a good slammin' breakdown knocks it up a notch.
  15. So when you go to the shop, do you just buy whatever you see? Some people have selective hearing, you know I'm with LLB on this one. Compact is bad stuff, except for LISH <3 If we don't compare a release to any others then what is the point of buying one and not the other? I won't diss up your review - it's obviously personal, and admirably positive - but I don't think it is useful for psytrance buyers.
  16. Haha... honesty at last! Combustion is indeed a fabulous piece of work.
  17. Both rare, both pricey. Sometimes you will get lucky because they're not from a very well-known artist who released a big album. Expect to have to trade for it in most cases.
  18. Megalopsy got my vote... it's preliminary, and I do love the Penta, but this album is pretty fucking cool nonetheless...
  19. Don't own it? every track there is a collab. Prismatic is with some guy I've never heard of, and track 7 or whatever is with Drezz from Nervasystem and all the rest is Sean + Benji.
  20. You know, I expected it to be cheezy, but this is ridiculous. There is no question, however, that there are a few minutes here and there that aren't bad at all. If I had to pick some tracks to save from this mess, it would have to be The Creation, Egypt, and Garden of Eden (nice bass on this one, for full-on anyway). It's not too terrible for the formula-driven run-of-the-mill stuff, and hey - these guys pretty much developed the formula in the first place so you can't hold that against them so much. Still, not too interesting overall, since its about 70% cheddar.
  21. http://www.psynews.org/reviews/onedropo.htm It is interesting to consider this excellent album with respect to what Benji went on to do with Prometheus...
  22. I am listening to Combustion right now. As always I keep wondering why the hell I didn't like this when it came out! I need blood.
  23. Some of the psy-prog mood is drifting from deep to bouncy, and I'm not too into that. Pumping Drops is like that - somewhat. Not sure if I made a good purchase with that one after all, but wanted something different for my collection.
