  1. Does Labyrinth mix with psytrance at all or is it too far out of that domain? I'm trying to wrap my head around it before picking it up...
  2. I am partial to MELOJIC... it is just so slickly produced and has a really nice dark melodic vibe.
  3. Bio-tonic - the 3rd link. absolutely freakin' average - whats the idea behind this being so popular?
  4. What a poll! I've got a non-standard schema... for Goa it's all done by artist, with compilations off to the side. I group like-projects together so Crop Circles and Pleiadians are under 'E'. I keep post-millenial psytrance and progressive seperate - the prog I still use fairly often so its in a bin right under my table. There's no real order to it since I'm usually just fishing through the pile anyway. All my CDs are in a heap with absolutely no order whatsoever. It's a mess but at least my Goa is 100% sorted.
  5. I have a mint, unplayed copy of Rock Bitch Mafia on 3LP. For that, I would hope you have a good looking sister.

    Cheezy...

What the fuck are you on about
  7. There are some new freeware packages, go googling for them. I used fontographer to whip up some fonts in the mid-90s... I tell ya, its always a laugh when I see my lame fonts being used on an album cover. Case in point: the new Fatali release. Dust Mites. That one's mine... one of the first electronic groups I was into was the Chemical Brothers, and I went and made a font from some blurry graphic I found on the internet... later on I found its not just some script they made up as their logo - its an actual Adobe font called Sho Roman, which is of course about 10,000 times as good. And yet, once it was out there I never could reclaim it... and every once in a while some designer, lacking a kind of typographical aesthetic, goes and uses it. I mean, fuck - look at the jagged edges up on this biatch, it's a terrible font! http://212.227.206.198/cgi-bin/zoom.cgi?yo...oy1cd064.html:; Circuit Scraping and Mechoba also get some play in the psy world... heh, well anyway - its always a laugh. Font making is time consuming but rewarding if you make something good... you'll see it in media for years to come.
  8. I am going to offer tracker services for legal downloads anytime now - djs + artists are welcome to contact me if they want to find out about that. I maintain my argument that bittorrent is a great way to get free stuff around the internet
  9. Try clicking that big link that says .torrent
  10. I am strongly opposed, top tens are just a streamlined way for traders to get their stuff out there. If you want to share what you feel is good why not start up an actual discussion instead of merely posting a list? That takes care of the kiddie pirates anyway, most of whom can't string a sentence together to save their lives... KILLLLLLAH. Isra was hurting for so long thanks to the top 10s... good move on them. - my 2 cents -
  11. Basilisk - Nocturnal Wanderlust - 2005 This mix is a carefully orchestrated journey through the deeper realms of psychedelic trance, showcasing a smooth and sublime progressive style. Conceptually, the story line unfolds as a descent into the inner world of dreams, reaching a hypnotic state of trance near the heart of the mix with Noma's tranquil Avoid the Future, and gradually rising through tribal-organic sound textures to awaken on the other side of night with Etnoscope's Sunrise. A pair of chilled gems provide a lead-in and come-down for the voyage. The mixing is intentionally subtle, with a focus on flowing transitions that do not interfere with the message of the music. Some basic effects are used in key sequences to round the edges off the sound. Equipment used: a pair of Pioneer CDJ-100s and a Technics 1200. Bio I play a very wide variety of psychedelic trance: deep progressive psytrance, tasteful full-on, dark psychedelic, old school Goa, suomi-style, psychedelic chill-out, jazz/funk/psychedelic hybrids, tribal sounds, and plenty more. My main passion is in building journeys through trance music using solid psychedelic material programmed to flow between styles and moods. On the technical side I usually take a kind of zen approach to mixing, preferring to let the music speak with minimal interference, and aim for smooth and lengthly transitions between tracks. I've had plenty of experience - played over 60 parties around Southern Ontario, including several big festivals (OM '02/'04, WEMF '03, and Teknival), and can be heard playing out at Darkrave, the local psytrance events, underground freetekno jams, and other assorted parties. My mission as a DJ outside of the gatherings is to seek out unique new sounds, dedicate my time to specialized mixes, and generally apply an artistic approach to the exploration of psychedelic trance. 12. Talpa is brilliant but his album was perhaps a little premature... I can't wait to hear what this character will be up to with better equipment and more technical skills... and let us hope his creative drive never lessens, for it is a wonder to hear such a psychedelic approach nowadays...
  13. ^ for a guy who fights so vehemently for old school representation you certainly know how to disrespect those who sink a great deal of effort into spreading the Goa vibes throughout the world in the modern era.
  14. But Goa IS among the most varying genres... and that is one of its remarkable attributes... yes, MWNN and Tim Schuldt can reside in the same space... Astral Projection can go with Syb Unity Nettwerk. It really happens.
  15. Note: if I recall correctly, Tigerhill/Neuroglider were mixed up in the tracklist on the CD... so the one with the reeeeeally cool dark drum'n'bass sequence would be Neuroglider. Er, I think I got that right anyway.... whichever one it is, that's the best I've heard from them...
  16. Isn't a better question - what old school artists haven't totally lost it?
  17. Some releases defy exact classification - I'd say that's one of them. No need to peg everything if I had to call it something I'd just deem it psytrance (whereas MWNN's first two would certainly be Goa)... anyway, it's all trance On another note I didn't end up liking Interstate Highway so much... I ended up with the single, which has Axis Flip (is that right?) and it's the only tune from the album I really got into... do yourself a favour and check out MWNN's debut...
  18. I agree with this... there's not much use for the term but it was in vogue for a while, and this is the style it was referring to. I personally call most of it "diet trance". Less fat, more aspartame.
  19. I seem to be sorted... thanks Yes a post-it note will come in handy... I'm just boggled because I could have sworn I remembered from the last time this happened... argh
  20. Anyone know a good one for sound forge? Need to tinker with some wave files... clean off some noise. I keep forgetting that every time I reset my computer the volume control goes whack and unmutes the 2nd line-in, dousing everything in crispy noise. Then I go spend 3 hours putting a mix together... maybe some NR could take care of this problem? PM me if you like... thanks.
  21. I think I just made a connection between Lunaspice - Dreaming or Awake, and FREq - Dreaming
  22. ^ I call all three of those "just psytrance" in my personal nomenclature.
  23. Maybe you guys weren't convinced by the promo data for the CD single: You hear that everyone? This is REAL music, not just (pfffft) trance!
