  1. I find Accidental Occidentalism to be very inconsistent. There are some great tunes there however... Boarding Pass to Balagan is great
  2. CoS 1 & 3 were among my first purchases of Goa trance... blame them for my continued interest over the years
  3. Uh, wasn't Reload in a major hollywood picture recently? Man on Fire? P.S. - other topic - lets drop this maligned notion of "professionalism" - people should be able to speak what they feel and not get jumped on... especially artists, who can sometimes be in the uncomfortable position of being subject of conversation without being accepted into such a discussion. That ain't right. If people have a right to kvetch about upcoming transwave material then dado surely has a right to say - hey guys, give us a break and let us do our work.
  4. This has been the best year ever for progressive, but 1995/1996/1997 was quite kind to Goa trance... I couldn't pick a single year really.
  5. Hmm... yes. I still think Moment of Truth is the best one... there are some reeeeeally nice songs on there. Teleport is a CLASSIC... don't diss!
  6. The psytrance world desperately needs a hub for free sounds!
  7. Haha Psychaos goes waaaay back to DIGITAL ALCHEMY, the 1994 compilation that featured Man With No Name, Paul Jackson (Genetic / Voodoo People) and Ayahuasca (Dino, Joti, and Steve Ronan!)... it's like the precursor to the Atomic days, especially considering Ian Rive was a part of Universal Sound and later Semsis and Cydonia if I'm not mistaken... ah the good old days, before Dino started creating wussy eurotrance and Joti became a full-on trend follower.
  8. Haha, I like this rant - good going. Check out the Filteria album, otherwise diversify your tastes a little. It can't be helped - economics really killed off a beautiful movement, but as we all know fashion runs in cycles. With enough of a resurgent interest it will come back, as it is starting to, in small pieces... I'm lucky to have gained an appreciation for psytrance and progressive as well as good old Goa, but I sure do miss it. With all the high technology of today some really crazy stuff could be made nowadays - not just this dancefloor-tamed mush, but some really intense sonic experiences...
  9. Looks interesting... no subscription info?
  10. Perhaps this is a good yardstick... what did everyone think of these two post-millenial remixes? I mean, weren't they just tolerable at best, but nowhere near as good as the originals? Cycles of Life should not have been touched imho... that song is so completely solid as it is - don't change a thing!!
  11. Good luck... there is always room for more sites - the existing ones aren't always *ahem* maintained or updated *pokes lemmiwinks in the ribs* See if you can include Poly 61 in your list!! They are the best of new Goa!

  14. I just checked it out and... yawn...
  15. Has 3dv released anything distinct in the last couple of years? I don't know about this...
  16. None of those... it's mainly leftover bargain stock, hence the sale, by the looks of it. You could put together an order of a few good things from that list however... Mr. Pec's album was a little rare in its time for example, and still pretty good for the dark psy fan.
  17. A Day After Psybration: Fundamental Progression Pure Bliss Iboga has also been great this year...
  18. Well, maybe this is too hasty - I don't know yet. I never was a dark soho fan but this album has some cool melodies. It also does have some bland formula-sounding stuff, but who knows? It might grow on ya. Let's not hurtle it into the void so quickly simply because it's not what was expected. The gothic vibe is still there on some tracks! Then again, maybe it's crap
  19. Trying to get people to not use the term 'full-on' would be about as useful as trying to stop downloading.
  20. Nope. They work and are in common usage. Deal with it Progressive that doesn't progress is more on the techno side. Full-on that isn't really full-on could be just plain old psytrance. Descriptions help us discuss music.

    IFO

Back in the day I never really liked Etnica and related projects. It took a little while to tune into those frequencies. That being said, IFO does indeed have some sucky production. I have the 2LP vinyl cut which is even muddier. Still, some great songs with crazy melodies... give it a few more spins!
  22. Hmm... uhh... err... strikes me as the successor to Trivia, early Luminus, and that sort of thing. I have the feeling I might despise it after 3 listens.
