  1. it sounds mainly the same, but a little better than the rest... this is the album i'd take for my 'representational sample' of the full on sound in '03.
  2. try this forum out for more music maker's.. in this place it is called "the Alchemist's Lab".. there is some activity but more helps everyone out so I thought I'd pass this on! peace
  3. Jirah's CD is golden... first album I've ordered in a long while, and its all good stuff... I can also say that Psydrop sounds real nice though it will have less 'staying power' I would imagine. Still very good. Fear & Loathing is SO catchy. I would recommend AGAINST the Fatali album... but thats just me. Eskimo sounded ok to me but possibly too derivative. A nice third choice perhaps.
  4. moderators? also, why are russians so big into piracy? i still get regular spam from people running ftps there, listing off all the new releases they have available...
  5. I am really enjoying that tarsis tune these days... not psychedelic tho. But does that matter
  6. ^ seriously. wtf. I'd pass the honour on to Vibrasphere and Jirah.
  7. Hello.. we have had a special offer going for our first 12" release which will be ending August 16th, so I thought I might make a notice here so anyone seeking to take advantage of our deal has the oppurtunity to do so before it ends... essentially, if you send us US$12 by money order in the mail, we'll send you a copy of the record wherever you are in the world. If you'd like to know more about the record, visit the promo page: http://www.ektoplazm.com/ekt1201.html Contact orders@ektoplazm.com to make arrangements. For an extra $0.50 we can extend this offer to paypal users (send cash to the e-mail address listed above). We've had some distribution problems (clearly) which I needn't go into in any great detail.. suffice to say I'm taking a long vacation after this, and will re-address the problem when I return. If you'd like to see this release in stores please email wirikuta, chaos unlimited, etc. They simply won't get back to me (probably because they are very busy), but expressed an interest in picking up some copies earlier on. Perhaps a little noise from the public could motivate them to communicate a little better PS there was also an over-run on covers, so if you'd like a spare cover it would be an extra US$2 on top (ltd. quantities available). I think anyone who has seen the physical record can attest to the serene beauty of the cover it is also one of the main reasons why we have had trouble distributing... its difficult when the competition make cheapo 2-colour labels and uses plain sleeves!
  8. Yeah, check out Soliptic! There's plenty of cool old school sounds being made on the net, just not so much released... shoulda said that earlier
  9. Stone Age rocks Terrible, I know!!
  10. They really SNAFU'd this release! The vinyl I have has all kinds of weirdness on it... Nutricious Crack, though it is the most fabulous name of all, is in fact Sibilant (as listed on the vinyl LP label but not the tracklist on the cover). goadigger - if you do any trading (not mp3s) check out my list of goodies: http://www.ektoplazm.com/basilisk-want_list.txt
  11. Its not a contradiction... its actually quite simple to my ears: old Goa spirit with modern production technique. CHI-A.D. have plenty of new material in this style (which is why we nabbed two of their tracks for our 12" release of course), and... well I'd be hard-pressed to find much more. Psydrop definatly has it down to a small extent (Fear & Loathing is nice), and... and... my brain isn't spitting anything else out. Damnit
  12. Boris Blenn - Portamento Cosmic Navigators & Xerox - Electronic Energy Shakta & Moonweed - Q Cosmosis - Interstellar Meltdown (er, is that it?) The Secret - The Munk Files (really cool!) MFG - Process Irreversible (Passenger RMX) Jaia & Dado - Sillenium enjoy n stuff..
  13. The Ektoplazm Forums have been operating for well over 3 years now and we remain a small alternative to the ailments of these various larger international forums... if you drop by you'll likely find it to be a cozy small-scale community with an active music-makers forum and very little need for moderation... I usually hesitate to pass on the info nowadays, as our site has been regularly active and interesting enough to warrant caution at spreading the word but you know, once in a while it's probably good to send out the trawling nets and see what interesting entities we discover try it out if you like...
  14. Where is Magnetrixx - Didgeridoo released?! Thats what I wanna know! NICE TRACK!
  15. Interested? Follow this link: http://www.freetekno.toronto.on.ca and click on 'Teknival 2003' to the left there. Anyone from this site goin'?
  16. Here's a review I wrote a while ago, somewhat at odds with what is said here (but I stand by it): 'For All Mankind' is pretty much what you'd expect from one half of MFG... the trademark bass, very well structured (but standard) drumwork, and talented but not astounding work with the melodies. This CD is essentially MFG Lite, same great taste but half the fat. For this reason I won't do a track-by-track analysis, as many of these songs share similar features and differ only in structure and overall impression. 'Sundance' is one of the nice songs to be found here, with lots of chewy synth burps churning across a cosmic landscape backed by some pulsating percussion. Leading the whole arrangement are the touching melodies, and the fine buildups are simply the icing on the cake. 'Tempo' is a bit of a darker song for this album, and one of the only ones where intricate drum work takes precedence for certain parts... it makes for a very driving and groovy trance story. 'Reflection' is also in the cosmic vein, with sparkling high-end melodies and a near-constant rush of notes in the mid-range. Years ago they may have dubbed this 'progressive' trance, for that is what it does - pushing the melodic and structural elements forward with small changes, subtly building sound texture and emotional impact... when this song gets going it really soars, but you would never know it if you skipped through the song. 'Uplifting' is just as the title suggests, with very nice cohesion between the bassline changes and melodic shifts. So to sum it up, this is one for the MFG lovers. Past singles by Passenger tend to excite me more (The Race, Electric Opera, etc) but this is a fine assortment of tunes suitable for any trance fanatic. May grow tiresome when listening to the full dose, however... but conversely, that makes this good for a long drive, or for background listening.
  17. yep... I hope this trend will stop. I still have not heard some deep groovy sounds in the morning, always the same tired sound. It just makes me want to go home...
  18. There's so much of this... anyhow I'm not saying 'ack this sucks!' I'm just asking if anyone has an interest in these types of releases... whether they're any good - comparable to quality psy-prog, or what... cuz I'm in the dark, and I like wax peace
  19. I didnt want to mention Fatali at all because I do not like talking bad about anything but come on... why?? arrr
  20. Just curious, but does anyone actually buy and or listen to the more 'mainstream' releases now being listed here on the site? I assume they're taken from psyshop which has begun to sell these things. Anyone actually keen on them?
  21. Someone set up us the error!!!!
  22. There's this slightly obscure older tune that has a really interesting intro and progression... its by Morphem & Naveed, called 'Iridens' or something. Try that out! BEAUTIFUL intro: 12 Moons - The Voyage... just last weekend I spent time at night on the beach, staring at the stars, hearing the waves lash against the sandy shore. We had a little portable sound system and I took that moment to put this track on, and the sounds of dolphins and waves in the song just blended perfectly with the environment... gorgeous.
  23. Why not get a nice web page with easy booking info, make a few gigs from this? Putting an album online for free is a big step... Too bad about label problems, and good luck with future music productions!
