...and I'd say that MFG album is the best on the list!
-
no way, they're still producing!! i assure you of that. they just aren't doing what other groups are doing i.e. make sterile progressive garbage...
-
very impressive release, i agree... bio-tonic hit all the right elements with that catchy anthem 'play it'...

alcohol sure seems to have played a big part in lowering the energy levels, but there'll always be pockets of people craving the maximal sounds despite what the trend-setters will have you believe... if you're a vinyl buyer, be sure to check out the new CHI-A.D. 12"! both tracks from the record are full on & melodic like they used to be... the music certainly isn't made for cookie cutter dj mixing!! its something for any time of the day or night to ignite some smiles on anyone listening... hopefully the records will be in the online stores soon.. until then you can contact me for purchasing info...! peaze

i expect it only to diversify, not run in herds... and thats what we have happening. i remember when i first heard midnight sun and thought 'well this is better than all the minimal mush i've heard recently, but i could just listen to GMS instead'... and then wham, its EVERYwhere.. same sound, same vibe, same mood (stick another pill in me) and some djs play nothing but that sound... which, aside from being ridiculously easy to mix, is really irritating after the seventh matrix sample! worst offender: absolum's drumatrix.. grr.. repeating samples over and over again was cool in 1994 when everyone was listening to demented techno and chomping disco biscuits like breath mints. but that's another story... personally, i'm satisfied with whats on the go. sure you have the astrix and GMS posse of like-sounding artists, all making bland ineffectual filler with the occaisional gem that i dont even bother with... but there's also artists like nervasystem, eat static, process, human blue, and saiko-pod trying out interesting new concepts in music... to run the full circle... i dont believe its progression so much as diversification of sound that matters to me... technology is always on the rise so the sounds we're hearing will become more precise as time goes on... its just a question of atmosphere, mood, style - and the more experiments out there the more likely we're going to hear something fresh and interesting. and if it gets really bad there's all those records from 96 that still kick my ass. thus i have no complaints.

try these two tunes from eat static: holy war & follow that camel... not quite as eclectic but they weave a good myth =) the messenger is a stellar song... i bought 5 copies when it came out on vinyl, alas they're all already gone... i have very fine memories of it being played in the middle of the night at one of the free parties we had out here in toronto - its a lot of fun to dance to at a party as well! who said its all gotta be 4 to the floor madness?

that's rather harsh, 'peaceful' warrior. there's not even any point to explaining how musical taste IS arbitrary. that's not idiotic - that's simply how it goes...
-
oh, and some recommendations: jaia - mai mai, brainstorm indoor - shiva 12 moons - northern star blue planet corporation - crystal doof - sunshrine man with no name - re-incarnation [tripster mix] reefer decree - psychic substances man on earth - so acid rockers - orion enjoy the summer =)

i think that goes for a lot of people, myself included. just be honest with yourself...

rennis i know where you can find that prana 4LP but it aint cheap the sad fact is - anything pre99 is pretty much rare by now. vinyl is like comic books - if improperly cared for it goes bad. thusly the value on any remaining copy skyrockets, especially considering the relatively low amount of records pressed in the first place. but thats what makes it a fun hobby, this collecting bizness two of the rarest items in goa history are on dragonfly - one is the 12" pleiadians promo with alcyone on one side and an etched drawing of the pleiadians (star cluster) on the opposite side. 100 or 200 copies only. the other rare dragonfly 12" i can think of is the muses rapt - spiritual healing (original pressing with "remix" - not the 2LP doublepack)... that one i've got

don't like the trend? then get involved!!
-
