psytrance - is it superior & do we all know something th
Basilisk replied to a topic in General Psytrance
lyrics belong on a printed page (imho). psytrance is a personal experience... for some people, there is nothing better. i guess i'm one of those - its all i listen to and i never grow bored of all its myriad substyles. -
hi there.. i seek info on the etchings you sometimes see in the gutter of a record! i have a bunch, and there's some on psymindexpander2000 but, well.. there's that whole teeming mass of the public out there, maybe some of you know? here's one i found this morning on my copy of juno reactor's "beyond the infinite" YOU HAVE TO HAVE CHAOS IN YOUR HEART.. IF YOU WANT TO GIVE BIRTH TO A DANCING STAR (a lost cause, i know... but worth a try)

no kidding... wtf?

too many space pills for basilisk today didnt mean to come down so harsh on ya ep

-shrug- ok.. i'm not twisting words, just not paying 100% attention. its a big "what if"

let me remind you that the LP of radio recently went for $102 american dollars on ebay... now THAT is demand. if you ahve a good relation with blue room i suggest you inquire about getting the master stampers.. that way you wont have to remaster for vinyl.. in fact it'll be fairly cheap that way (compared to redoing the press from the cd, making the lacquers, etc)

ep, its like the story of the guy who went to his doctor and said "doctor, it hurts when i do this" and then he contorts his arm around and touches a weird spot on his back or whatever.. so the doctor says "then don't do it!" if its no fun, why bother? as for your site my comments remain unchanged... how am i to know until i see the site? you're insinuations that i just want mp3s on my computer are as ridiculous as someone saying all artists are greedy. haven't i made it clear i spend far more money than i'm supposed to on this music? i find mp3s, sure, but thats just because they're a convenient way of previewing the music. maybe someone else can walk into a store and hear something once and say "that's for me!" but i seldom have that impression. you of all people should know that goa trance in particular is a kind of music that must sometimes grow in the mind... i could ask the people of this site, do you not have albums you completely love, that, at first listen, you wanted to return to the store? i have tons of those kinds of albums... orion's metamorpheus comes to mind. took a while to sink in but now i love it. even a site with high quality audio isnt necessarily gonna make me purchase - i'd have to go back to the site again and again perhaps, if the sound doesnt strike me at first. but - i will concede that such a thing is better than banning the mp3s from places like AG -and- not doing anything else (cuz then i definatly wouldn't purchase, no doubt). so really, EP, i don't strongly disagree with any artist taking themselves off of sharing services. instead, i take a practical approach and state that in my specific case (since i know no other), it is the artist's loss, not mine. do i hope to change your opinion, EP? no - i don't care to. you do whatcha gotta do but yeah.. if producing is no fun just remember, no one's forcing you. if production is fun but the money isnt good, get another job (or freelance, or something). i think the main point is that the talented artists are more free if they choose to be, depending on how the arrangement works. "its the only life they know" is a poor excuse for passing on responsibility for one's own destiny.

OH GOD NOT OLD MUSIC PLEASE THROW THAT BACK INTO THE GRAVE FROM WHENCE YOU DUG IT UP just joking of course... why is old a problem for some people? isnt the necessary attribute 'good' for music? not age? as for the set.. i dont see a flow, though there are many nice tracks there. you sure dont have to stick with all the same style, nor does every transition have to be fluid and sublime, yet i think there's too much jumping around in there... space puppy, dominion, pretty poison... that would probably all go together well

"we specialize.. in .. delivering people!"

EP it is hard to say if your site is a good substitute for a 192kbps full-length mp3 without having seen it, non? as for the 'walk in the park' thing, well come on... its obviously worth the tremendous rush you get from it... and besides, why cant someone work a regular job to handle the essentials and do their music as a hobby.. you all have to be miserable pros and we have to feel bad for your chosen path?
-
hey i like the idea about single tracks being blocked but artists putting together sampler mixes of the new material (like what MFG did for 'the message')...
-
oh its definatly over-rated.. but that doesnt mean its bad. some people will like it a lot! try before you buy and i agree - wizzy noise's cyclotron is a much better disc in that style...
-
hey if those guys wanna block their stuff from AG that's cool.. i wont be buying their music anymore probably - i've been burned far too many times by blindly purchasing new material from artists who USED to be good. no big loss really
-
i think they're working on it... there's a lot to be done, it wont happen overnight!
-
not psy, but mark eg has plenty of stage "presence"... er, who else smashes turntables and eats the pieces and yells like some deranged lunatic who drinks gas?
-
they're going on tour this summer also i found out about a new remix of theirs - concrete substance (?) - save me god [dark soho remix]
-
you're welcome to try out some of my mixes.. speaker for the dead - dark and melancholic but very psychedelic photon waves & ethereal shores - funky morning stuff and some classic goa drifting through the galaxy - '95-'97 goa trance with an epic feel
-
i hear it may be called "alternative" and it is surely going to kick some ass..
-
have any suggestions? i dont have the web space and cant run an ftp unfortunatly...
-
hey, just put together a mix full of old school sounds with tracks from 95 - 97 or so.. it's not all 'hits' and classic tracks, there is some variety... you can find this mix on audiogalaxy by joining the group "seething_tachyon_pond" (mention why you're joining) and after its been up for a few weeks you should be able to find it by searching... the title is "drifting through the galaxy" - in 192kbps mp3 format, 97megs, and around 70 minutes long. there's 13 songs in here all from different labels - i challenge you to figure out what the tracklist is email me your guesses and i'll mail a copy of this mix on audio cd to anyone who can figure out the most in two weeks or so.. also if anyone has web space and cares to host this for a little while, please contact me.. thanks
