  1. Hiscore Xor - Identify / Tracker Artist: Hiscore Xor Title: Identify / Tracker Label: Polytox Date: 1997 Track listing: 01. Identify 02. Tracker Review: Every time I listen to this EP I have the feeling that I've stumbled upon a real lost gem to the world of Goa Trance. "Identify" is a full-on tune with amazing buildups and tons of sounds that blast your brain into another state. The breakdowns are full of lovely choruses and speaking synths, making this a song that is sure to raise a vibe anywhere. Pure dancefloor material from the golden age of Goa Trance! "Tracker" on the flipside provides a hearty backup with funky basslines, a touch of tribal percussion, and a driving groove. This track shows influence of old style acid trance, with bubbling 303s and squelchy noises. Two guys from this project later went on to create Kopfuss Resonator, and Hiscore is also related to Spect-R so check those projects out if you'd like to hear more from these talented german guys! 9/10
  2. Hiscore Xor - Drone IIV / True Freedom Artist: Hiscore Xor Title: Drone IIV / True Freedom Label: Polytox Date: 1995 Track listing: 01. Drone IIV 02. True Freedom Review: Another classic title from Hiscore! This one was released prior to the Identify EP but still contains beautiful music. "Drone IIV" contains a warm atmosphere, bubbling 303s, sweeping pads, and a sound not unlike early Electric Universe songs. This song doesn't explode at any point but remains a satisfactory old style song nonetheless. "True Freedom" on the flip is the real classic here, having been picked up for many CD compilations over the years (such as Sound of Freedom from Transient). The samples here lift the spirits and propel the mind through pure trance, with swirling acid noises and deep buildups. The atmospheres that enter during the climax are dripping with the essence of trance and the ability to transform your experience into something greater. This track most certainly belongs on an enthusiastic dancefloor. Another great EP from the proto-Kopfuss squad. 8/10
  3. for your burnt cds you mean?
  4. I'm basing it on previews...
  5. heh heh.. look at us geeks 'fist full of mutants' is a good name for that alienated track though.. its intense. i wonder if it would go with the visitors - capn good vibes?
  6. there is some nice emotional music still being made... i always think of 'northern star' by 12 moons.. its beautiful and surreal. cant get enough of that song!!
  7. What do you think of the new Joujouka?
  8. i got the 12" vinyl in the mail yesterday (bought without hearing first) and i'm completely disappointed. i gotta stop doing that.. i literally put the track unlimited on, listened, and when it was nearly done i was still thinking it was the intro.
  9. i tend to agree... i like some technoish stuff but nothing compares to the old styles that are full of melody and vibe. i dont get the same effect at parties any more... and i tend to find most of the new stuff i buy to be sneakingly disappointing. i get records and immediately wonder why i even bothered when i have so much good old stuff...
  10. A bargain bin round-up of a few of the label's quality offerings...

    V/A - Resonance Mood

YES! the best from matsuri by far! this is what made that label great... i'm glad to see this is RED. resonance mood = ESSENTIAL... just like IFO =)
  12. i think people are just tired of the same old thing... people got sick of mwnn's signature sound, and now they're tired of the hundreds of GMS songs that sound the same (with different samples straight out of hollywood).. frankly i still think their best albums are their first two. they were creative... after that, i dont have a damn clue what happened to them.
  13. is it just me or are these tracks mixed up? not for children sounds like the remix of fist full of mutants so i assume they were switched at birth...
  14. tip world sucks for vinyl.. boo
  15. the ONLY time i feel it is justifiable is when the cd is way out of print and cant be found anywhere. i abhor the attitude which dictates that you must seek out unreleased music and then scoff at it when it becomes released. it creates elitism and snobbiness, something our scene does not need. how about some love and respect to the artists who make such great things?
  16. yeah! i was in a meeting and someone came in to tell me they put 4 records on my desk.. i was like 'woo hoo!' black rhino, reefer decree's excellent remix of erdbeer-kiwi, the finger, and logic bomb's new one! sweeeet
  17. Cross DNB/breaks with Goa trance and you end up with this... very interesting!
  18. good mixing? its more than theoretical. go to www.microdots.org (internet radio station) and request 'dj basilisk - speaker for the dead'... vote if ya like it =)
  19. "fine to be a pilot but sometimes nice to be a passenger" that sums it up
  20. but you CAN have both, and its rather disturbing when people don't try... this question is like asking what you would want more - cake, or the icing. they should go together for maximum effect.
  21. glad someone else recognizes that its a great idea and excellent effort =)
