  1. MUKTI - MAGICK MOTHER EP 01 :: Magick Mother (145 BPM) 02 :: Awakening (Upon A Star Part 2) (150 BPM) 03 :: Eastern Wind (150 BPM) 04 :: Crossing Rolando's Fissure (152 BPM) 05 :: The Thanaton (152 BPM) The Magick Mother EP marks the debut of Mukti (Darren Harper), an American psytrance and ambient producer. This five part conceptual release explores the rich symbolism of the mother archetype, challenging the listener with raw psychedelic rhythms and powerful atmospheric effects. Although the style is associated with darkpsy it is better to think of it as twisted forest trance with space rock influences and a slightly lo-fi sensibility—not unlike Para Halu or Psykovsky in some ways. This EP has been mastered by Kri at Audiovalve and features artwork by Paul Zulauf. Download it for free in MP3/FLAC/WAV direct from Ektoplazm: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/mukti-magick-mother-ep/
  2. No, that was about $1,000 for whatever releases I had mastered up until that point. And for sure, I will keep Vince in mind.
  3. There is an offer system on Discogs... so yes, prices always rise on eBay but they can come down on Discogs. I know some of my higher priced items are just there in case someone wants to spend that much... I don't really want to sell everything I list but I'd be willing to take a nice pay-out for some. That's the mentality that leads to some of the higher prices... fact is that some collectors pay top dollar for releases. I was regularly earning a hundred euros for any Infected Mushroom LPs I listed on eBay a few years ago... same goes when I post on Discogs. That stuff sells quick. So it's also a matter of what the market can bear. Anyway, no one is forcing you to buy anything... and plenty of those expensive psytrance CDs are never going to sell.
  4. Love it! The new Suntrip release is great as well...

  8. DJ BASILISK - LIVE AT DARKRAVE vs PANIC 01 :: Gappeq - Speaker Seeker [Wirikuta Recordings] 02 :: Datakult feat. My mission was to showcase the hard and nasty side of psychedelic trance often referred to as “darkpsy,” a style that is not often heard on Toronto dance floors. I try to ease it up near the end with a few crowd-pleasing tunes with big build-ups and a splash of melody but much of this set might be too intense for some listeners; consider yourself warned! 9. Ya, that was my first problem with the movie. You take 3 seconds to look into any "fact" and it turns out to be bunk. Gotta love all that nonsense about Jesus ushering in the age of Pisces or whatever... given that it wasn't until the 5th century that Ptolemy hammered out the basis for today's supermarket astrology. Oh, the fact-checking could be endless... which turns it into a huge time waster (above and beyond the 2 hours of your life sucked away by watching the movie itself). Of course, this is the Internet. Someone else has already taken care of all the hard work: http://www.conspiracyscience.com/articles/zeitgeist/ Grand insight from Part 1 of Zeitgeist? Christianity did not spring forth uninfluenced by previous religions. Woopity do. This might be news for Evangelical American bible nuts. The thing that struck me here is that... well, the movie does such a bad job of ripping Christianity apart. It isn't that difficult to point out the logical inconsistencies and expose Christianity as a manmade religion (just like all other religions). Still, it fails. The rest I could write about but who cares... it's all bullshit for non-experts. I mean, really. Any engineers or economists out there able to do any first-hand fact-checking and number-crunching? No, probably not. Anyway... where are those microchips?
  10. This one is pretty good, actually... really primitive sounding but it has a certain charm.
  11. I just wanted to thanks for your great work. I've downloaded lots of compilations from your site and every release was reat. I really don't get how you manage to do this all blissfulness but it's amazing. :-)

  12. Crazy. I'm selling the vinyl version of it but people keep bailing on the sale. Oh well.
  13. Free EP coming soon apparently?
  14. I listen to virtually no lyrical music but this stuff... it gets under my skin. I guess that's the idea though; super creepy "electro pop" or whatever. Silent Shout was my first real introduction to their sound; some very odd music on that one, and the beats are weird and interesting. The Fever Ray album is incredibly gloomy, just downright disintegrative, yet strangely hopeful and moving. I'm not the only one who likes these projects am I?
  15. Great stuff but I have a very difficult time separating good from awesome. They release so much music... and each album requires a fair amount of time to digest... so it takes a lot of time to figure out what I really like. Best finds: Distances and Earthshine.
  16. Zeitgeist is a load of rubbish. Poorly researched and executed, relying more on sentimental/emotional arguments than anything rational. I really don't understand the appeal of it... but I will say that I've put literally hundreds of hours into researching conspiracy theories of various kinds so it isn't as if I haven't given this stuff a chance.
  17. I really like it! If anyone out there is using Twitter... follow me!
  18. Slay those sacred cows, bwhale/eiko/sunwolf!
  19. The problem with MySpace is that you don't own your content. Actually, if you like the social media features of MySpace but want a more powerful publishing platform you can just use RSS to import reviews into your profile. I do a bit of that although I spent all of 2 minutes configuring it: http://www.myspace.com/basilisk_ (see the RSS reader on the left-hand side?) I've got things setup such that I publish content on my site and it notifies a bunch of other services automatically; no additional work on my end. Quite handy.
  20. Foamread = skim? I've done enough full reviews to last a lifetime. I might not ever do another.
  21. Psytones, why not set up a Wordpress blog? If you aren't savvy with PHP and that sort of thing you can get one at wordpress.com for free. That's what I've used for my reviews all these years... and if you're doing a dedicated review site it should be really easy for you to setup.
