Not so many people use it, surprisingly! But yes, with add-ons like AdBlock, anyone who sees ads on the Internet must be consenting to do so...

Ace Ventura is taking the path of Infected Mushroom? Where can you hear guitars and vocals in his work?

Cosmosis - Retro: Volume 1 (Re-Mastered)
Basilisk replied to Templar's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
No, me neither. The industry feels justified in charging more while giving the customer less? It is an outrage... something I've argued against for years now. Juno is (as far as I know) the first digital download shop in our scene to get things under the cost of a CD... so at least that's some progress. With Beatport leading things I was starting to get worried that prices would only go UP over time! -
Mine is about half as much but the estimates at the top are way off... $15 a day? Yeah, I wish. More like $1.50...

Cosmosis - Retro: Volume 1 (Re-Mastered)
Basilisk replied to Templar's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Juno is perhaps the only sanely priced digital download shop right now... well, for this kind of music anyway. You should be getting a nice deal if you buy the whole release... in fact, I think the FLAC/WAV version is less than the cost of a new CD. I am looking forward to the next in this series... don't take too long! I've got so much old Cosmosis vinyl to replace!! -
V/A.-ORGANIC VISION Vol.1 (Moonquest Records)
Basilisk replied to shinobi's topic in Free Music Promotion
Only 50? How about freeing it up after all those copies are gone? Or is the idea to keep the music exclusive? -
I suppose it can't be any worse than Southland Tales...

Indeed; I am going to code that up next. Here's the problem with "freestyle": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freestyle_music

Psycore is awesome. So is Klangman. Actually, I really like the original Scorb album... it's a killer.

Yes, this is how I see it... but I'm having trouble with "just psytrance" since it isn't really a sub-style or type of psytrance per se... I mean, it's all psytrance (or close enough) but how does MEEO or Prometheus or any of those guys fit? It's not full-on in the conventional sense... still have to sort that one out. Here's the working list: Full-On. Progressive, Techtrance, Darkpsy, Goa, Techno, Downtempo, Experimental... Some styles such as night/morning/twilight can be rolled into full-on or progressive or darkpsy. Same with forest music. We know it's not the same... but these are just high-level tags, nothing more. You can see it in action now: http://www.ektoplazm.com/section/free-music/ Click on any of the styles listed just under the title of a release. Still a lot of work to be done here but I think the above categories cover 95% of what's on the site--and that's great for a start. Props to supergroover for prompting me to get this done :posford:

Just that one track... Primi TB. Never used anything else by them.

Bitter much?

By request... Ektoplazm now supports browsing by style! Try it out and let me know what you think.

If you had to make the shortest, most accurate list of the major psytrance styles, what would it include? I've got something like this: Full-On, Progressive, Techtrance, Darkpsy, Downtempo, Goa... But of course this doesn't catch everything. I'd include Suomi but so much of that style isn't actually made in Finland; does the term still apply? Could I get away with using "experimental" as a catch-all for stuff that doesn't fit anywhere else? I'll make no secret of it; I'm asking because I'm working on a new feature for Ektoplazm... something originally requested here on Psynews, actually: the ability to browse free releases by style. Of course, nothing is ever completely accurate... but I'm hoping to capture the most music with the least number of bins, and I welcome input from the community to achieve something that will piss off the least amount of people

I visited SF for a weekend and didn't manage to find anything other than a burner party to attend... and that was all decidedly non-psytrance (actually, the DJs were some of the worst I've ever heard--but the live acts were interesting at least). Here's an idea: check the North America section on Isratrance. It is far more active than this room.

No need to be so paranoid. This kind of thing is happening on other Invision boards. Time to upgrade the security features, that's all.
