That statement is groundless.

Just finished Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. Interesting book, not my kind of ideology or way of looking at things, but certainly very stimulating, very imaginative.

Full-on this time love it or loathe it... QUANTICA - GROOVE & ROOTS 01 :: Funky Branas (8:24) 02 :: Disconnected (8:19) 03 :: Going Furthur (7:07) 04 :: Sonic Entropy (8:11) 05 :: Supercollider (Remix) (8:11) 06 :: Aquantication (8:24) 07 :: Dream Liner (Remix) (7:30) 08 :: Dual Polarity (7:06) 09 :: Brand New System (Remix) (8:10) Groove & Roots is the third studio album from Quantica (Eric Mokotoff), a full-on psytrance producer based in Ibiza, Spain. His style is a smooth blend of pumping beats, swirling melodies, and warm atmospheres. This release follows up on Digital Voodoo (2008) and Astrobiology (2007), Quantica’s free debut album. If you enjoy the upbeat vibes of acts like Polaris, Mr. Peculiar, and Orion, give this a shot! Download it for free in MP3/FLAC/WAV format direct from Ektoplazm: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/quantica-groove-roots/

R.I.S.E. is pretty awesome if you ask me. He's got some solid tunes...

The fromage factor is insane on this release... much like the last Quadra album.

The track list looks great anyway -
Milk (2008) Great movie. Very authentic, very well-acted. I recommend it.

KNIFESTYLE - RAINSAW EP 01 :: Rainsaw (7:34) 02 :: Toss And Turn (6:31) 03 :: Dust Up (6:06) 04 :: Extruder (5:58) Knifestyle is none other than Blake Dailey, a techno producer based in Toronto, Canada, well-known to the hometown crowd. The Rainsaw EP marks the debut of the Knifestyle moniker and clocks in at release number ten for German netlabel Digital Diamonds. This stomping release is characterized by deep hypnotic arrangements and sly minimal grooves with a touch of funk. Each track differs slightly in tone and texture but all should have your body shaking on the dance floor. The cover photo has been supplied by David Dieschburg. V/A.-ORGANIC VISION Vol.1 (Moonquest Records)

The big statement on the back indicates that DJs aren't allowed to play this music in a set. Might you want to rethink that? -
Browsing through the promotional media section on Isratrance I often run across netlabels hosting their releases with Rapidshare and other web-based file-sharing services. 95% of the time I don't bother downloading--it isn't worth the hassle of CAPTCHAs (those little fields where you enter stupid codes) or time limits or pop-up ads or any of the other garbage that comes along with these sites. I'm betting that a lot of other people feel the same. I've been offering free hosting with Ektoplazm to a lot of different netlabels for a while now but I don't have an unlimited capacity. In fact, I am pretty close to my monthly bandwidth limit and have no choice but to be very choosy with what I host. Not so for the Internet Archive! They offer free hosting with unlimited space and bandwidth to any netlabel. Visit them here: http://www.archive.org Some psytrance netlabels have taken advantage of their services but many seem unaware. I'm posting this to highlight that you can have your free release hosted in lossless quality for absolutely nothing. Well, not quite--it takes a bit of work, and the site can be somewhat confusing. If you would like some help getting started I have just published a guide on the subject. Read it here: http://www.ektoplazm.com/articles/hosting-...ternet-archive/ Just say no to Rapidshare

I think it is the perfect compliment to Dwelling In The Void; brighter, more melodic, more driving. If you'd like to download it, here's the link: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/anakol...eyond-reach-ep/ More about Anakoluth: http://www.ektoplazm.com/profiles/anakoluth/

I wrote the site owner some emails but never heard back. Anyone know how to contact the FRR back catalogue rights owner?

I read somewhere that it was the most expensive new age yoga music video ever made. I might have liked it but there was no way to sympathize with the main character... he just seemed driven, psychotic even. Nice idea for a story but you can't go throwing all those heavy emotions around without first establishing a connection between the audience and the on-screen personalities.

The cover suits the music. It starts strong but drifts into pop ambient territory after a while... not that it's all bad or anything--Ott and MIDIval Punditz put out some good tracks on this release--but a bunch of it is perhaps too fluffy for my downtempo sets, which I generally try to keep a little edgier...

KINO OKO - THE DOGGY BAG EP 01 :: The Doggy Bag (7:29) 02 :: Cool Burning (6:49) 03 :: Red Rose Flow (7:53) Kino Oko explores the misty borderlands of techno and psytrance with The Doggy Bag EP, the ninth release from German netlabel Digital Diamonds. As with last year’s surprise hit, Alphabetically Divided Highway, Kino Oko combines technical know-how with genuine songwriting abilities and an original artistic vision to create uncommon musical experiences. Running the gamut from nostalgic and melancholic to cheerful and upbeat, Kino Oko’s idiosyncratic style displays an emotional intelligence often absent from electronic dance music. Download it for free in MP3/FLAC/WAV direct from Ektoplazm! http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/kino-o...e-doggy-bag-ep/

Wow, it appears as if I am two years late in finding out about this. I took a break from chill for a while--too many same-sounding releases and bland experiences. This, however, is quite a cool compilation. Many of the songs have made an immediate impact. And I really like the Appletree remix. If you missed it like I did perhaps it's worth returning to...

Synecdoche, New York Err, ahh, umm... need to think about this one some more. Ebert's review might be helpful here: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.d.../811059995/1023 If you enjoy David Lynch this might be your style.

192k MP3s are "quality"?

I just watched Down By Law. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090967/ Now, I am a big Jim Jarmusch fan. You have to understand that his movies don't always "make sense" but they certainly have a point. It is as much the journey as the destination, which isn't really much of one... his movies tend to fade out instead of sizzle, and is it disappointing? No. You watch for the experience, for the subtext, for the subtle feelings and slow pacing and arresting visuals. Remember when minimal was becoming big and we described that as paying more attention to the space between the notes than the notes themselves? That's Jarmusch. Try out one of his films sometime, you might like them.
