  1. And then there are the guys that think it is revolutionary to put the cliched downtempo track in the middle of the album somewhere!!

  3. ENTITIES 01 :: Psyllumination - Illusions (5:47) 02 :: Musica Ex Machina - To Go Behind (9:36) 03 :: Phantasmagoria - Primordial (7:27) 04 :: Deimos - Funkscape (7:14) 05 :: Delta Cycle feat. Formulated as a true journey into trance, this release ranges in style from deep flowing progressive and downtempo to pumping full-on and new school Goa trance. Straying from the commercial norm, these tracks come alive with creative energy and authentic spirit. Entities is released with support from Trancepleme, Ministry of Psychedelics, HUKnet, and Metakoncept. Download it for free in MP3/FLAC/WAV format direct from Ektoplazm: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/entities/
  4. JAADOO - CHRONICLES OF SIMORGH EP 01 :: Ghool Of Damavand (7:53) 02 :: Caspian's Struggle (8:51) 03 :: Slaughter Of Deevs (7:54) 04 :: Mitra's Lies (7:06) The Chronicles Of Simorgh EP by Jaadoo is the second free release from 2to6 Records, a label owned and operated by Electrypnose and Baphomet Engine. Jaadoo composes heavy night-time psytrance that aims to explore the “deep swampy corners” of the subconscious. Across four “strange stories” ranging from 150 to 157 BPM, the Chronicles Of Simorgh EP delivers a dark and menacing peak-time experience. This release has been mastered by xaBBu and features artwork by Ayalien. Download it for free in MP3/FLAC/WAV direct from Ektoplazm: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/jaadoo...-of-simorgh-ep/
  5. Yeah, give me a shout I've always wanted to get your music out to the masses.
  6. This is a release that plays it safe. It works on the dance floor but purists are going to despise it.
  7. Dead Cities is great. My favourite. But if you like FSOL... you might as well check out their entire discography. Some are good, others are great, but I find that their work can be appreciated even when you don't really end up liking it.

Tons of new vinyl added today: http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?seller=Ekto-Basilisk I'd love to cut some deals on quantity here. I know shipping is a pain but let's work something out!
  9. Eclipse and Entheos get my seal of approval... and I've heard a lot of good things about Gaian Mind (well, aside from the whole stomach flu thing last year--whoops). Orb, not so much. In fact, be sure to read up on it if you're thinking of going. Seems to be one of those cases where the line-up persuades but the organizers fail to follow through on most other matters that are important to the festival experience...
  10. Nice work on the new site! The more FLACs the merrier
  11. Haven't seen anything yet... keep me updated if you find anything.
  12. Goa trance originally meant "the kind of trance they play in Goa, India." We assigned it particular attributes... and by "we" I mean those of us actively participating in reviews, historical analysis, and discussion online. There's no need to call people "ignorant" if they use the original definition of a term and not the more "correct" version we have agreed upon. That would be silly!
  13. Here's my recent chart: http://www.ektoplazm.com/journal/progressi...-february-2009/
  14. Sacred Earth isn't that far from Chicago as I understand it...
  15. If you must employ samples use obscure sources only. Foreign films, audio books, your own utterances--the possibilities are virtually limitless. There's no good excuse to use any overplayed Hollywood sound bytes in your work.

Network (1976) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074958/ I'd give this dark comedy a 9/10... has anyone here seen it? There are some absolutely killer lines in this flick (many of which are recognizable from tracks released over the years).
  17. Ugh, not that Master & Servant remix. Dado must really like that one--anyone remember Synthetic - Beat Machine? It's actually a very cool track, but the new version... pure cheddar, and well-nigh unlistenable.
  18. I don't quite understand the relentless criticism of Astral Projection... they've never wavered too far from their original path--which always had commercial appeal, if you ask me. BTW: BNE is kaput.
  19. Has it finally arrived? http://www.discogs.com/Transwave-Frontfire/release/1654815
  20. Greetings travellers, Every year I gather together dates, links, and locations of the various psytrance (or psytrance-related) festivals taking place in North America. This year I'm starting early, largely because of the noticeable increase in spring festivals this year. A good sign, isn't it? Anyhow, if you're seeking a quick and dirty rundown of what your options are this festival season, look no further: http://www.ektoplazm.com/articles/north-am...e-2009-edition/ I will be keeping this post updated all summer long. If you have any tips to pass on (or wish to correct any mistakes that may arise) please feel free to use the contact form on my site to reach me directly.
  21. You're very welcome thanks for the props! I have a new one for today... this time from Neurotrance Records, Bolivia: EROFEX - DONT WALK REMIXES EP 01 :: Dont Walk (Erofex Remix) (9:54) 02 :: Dont Walk (Oxya Remix) (8:53) 03 :: Dont Walk (Undertaker Remix) (7:30) 04 :: Dont Walk (Dark Fox Remix) (7:41) 05 :: Dont Walk (Lattus Remix) (7:54) 06 :: Dont Walk (Organikka Remix) (6:38) Neurotrance Records is back with a blasting full-on release containing several remixes of Dont Walk, a song by Erofex (Efrain Candia) that originally appeared on the Hispanodelia compilation in 2007. Erofex, a key player in the South American underground, reworks his own creation alongside a team of producers from Bolivia, Mexico, Argentina, Greece, and Portugal. Download it for free in MP3, FLAC, or WAV format direct from Ektoplazm: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/erofex...alk-remixes-ep/
