Vaccuum Stalkers - Sci-Fi Animation
Basilisk replied to Synergetic Records's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Hot cover, cool music. -
I think it is released on vinyl with Creeping Gravity and the Pathfinder remix. Both remixes (Rediver and Pathfinder) would be great to have on CD. Another suggestion: http://www.discogs.com/release/33597 Great vinyl, never released on digital media. Kopfuss Resonator might still be answering emails. JLK (of Spectral) is also answering emails from his web site in case you want to probe their back catalogue (many gems in there I would say, probably some unreleased too). Lastly, Jaia has a few unreleased works from way back in the day. I don't know what they're called; one was a collaboration with Taj Mahal. Pretty good stuff.

They did a bang-up job on this tune. Love it.

Yes, exactly. What I think some people fail to understand is that there is a lot of amateur darkpsy out there... but also some very serious psychedelic music. There is a signal-to-noise problem at work here: for all the Parvati, Procs, Derango, CPC, and Ghreg On Earth out there, you have an incredible number of talentless kids making random aggressive noises without any intelligence whatsoever. All that stuff gives "darkpsy" (a stupid term) a bad name. Same with full-on, right? There is a lot of cheesy garbage out there but also some real gems. Sort of like all the mindlessly derivative minimal techno you might hear... or pointless new school Goa tributes... and so on. The main difference here is that "darkpsy" is very much a participatory musical subculture; the people that like it are more likely to get into producing it than I have observed with most other sub-variants of psytrance. And then you have a gazillion shoddy labels to release their maladaptive offerings... but don't for a second think that old school Goa trance didn't face this exact same problem once upon a time. There is no shortage of pointless, intellectually vapid old school out there--it is just that most of us forget about it because it is no longer all around us. Darkpsy is everywhere... and for that reason I think it has elicited more of a revulsion from many posters here. Hey, I'm not asking anyone to like the stuff--I'm just pointing out that there are other factors here that go way beyond personal preference.

V/A - A WALK THROUGH NEPTUNE'S GARDEN 01 :: Keiretsu vs Soliptic - Ripples (Imprint Of Creation Mix) (11:46) 02 :: Jikkenteki - Slippery Slopes (9:11) 03 :: Zekazy - Unicorn (7:12) 04 :: Phi - In The… (6:44) 05 :: Zekazy - Broadcast (6:30) 06 :: Jikkenteki - Modori Odori (9:23) 07 :: PAR-2 - It Is (What Isn’t) (12:50) 08 :: Anjin - Nesta's Soft Escape (9:56) Originally released in 2005, A Walk Through Neptune’s Garden is the debut release from PAR-2 Productions, an independent label founded by Jikkenteki and Katapult. Defying conventional standards, this thematic compilation explores the concept of water in all its forms: Water is an ever moving, ever changing force of nature. From calm cool pools and flowing rivers to raging storms and massive floods, water is many ways nature’s equivalent to human emotion. It sustains us and gives us life. It can calm us and lull us to deep meditative states. It can also assault us with an aggressive onslaught that can be both amazing and terrifying. For this reason it serves has an ideal theme for linking the music on this compilation. Rather than dwelling on any one particular “style” of psychedelic music, we have tried to create a fluid sonic journey through the whole range of emotional content that psychedelic trance has to offer. Re-released in 2008 under a Creative Commons licence for noncommercial usage. Download it for free in MP3/FLAC/WAV from Ektoplazm: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/a-walk...eptunes-garden/ Original CDs are still available direct from PAR-2: http://www.par-2.com/store.html Check out the existing Psynews review thread http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=27486

Thanks everyone for the great comments and feedback! I tried my hand at a top 5 by year; check out the new "hall of fame" feature. I certainly haven't made my mind up about what really belongs there and can guarantee the selections will change... but it's a start! I think I will also begin to write small histories for each year to describe what was going on and also highlight a few releases that play into the larger narrative... but that may take a little while. As always, it is a work in progress...

And the labels complain that people don't buy music!

I am still waiting for something as gripping as Spontaneous Illumination. Not that the new Entheogenic is bad, exactly... but it seems a bit fluffy.

I am glad to see the sound quality issue is being worked through... good luck on preparing the improvements

In other news, Mainspring Motion is now available in lossless format! http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/mainspring-motion/ I have many more "lossless upgrades" coming soon (including the entire Digital Diamonds back catalogue)...
-
Of course, I should add an entry for the Anakoluth EP! ANAKOLUTH - DWELLING IN THE VOID EP 01 :: In A Nutshell (9:20) 02 :: Achilles’ Heel (9:04) 03 :: Feinter Les Paupières (9:01) 04 :: Delphic Haze (9:33) Dwelling In The Void features four slow-burning arrangements from Swiss newcomer Anakoluth (Roman Hunziker), a talented young producer on a mission to meld minimal psychedelic techno with elements of cosmic Goa trance. Drawing influence from artists such as Zerotonine, Sandman, and Atmos, Anakoluth has developed an uncommon style incorporating cold hypnotic rhythms, eerie droning atmospheres, and mesmerizing melodic climaxes. Turn out the lights, pump up the volume, and set out on a mental voyage into the vast interstellar depths with the Dwelling In The Void EP from Ektoplazm. Licensed under the Creative Commons for noncommercial usage. You are encouraged to share, copy, broadcast, and perform this release! Mastering for this release has been provided by Sensient of Zenon Records, Australia. In addition to the MP3, FLAC, and WAV packages available for free download, this release is also available for purchase on CD. http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/anakol...in-the-void-ep/

What is difficult to understand about what has gone on? This is a psytrance forum first and foremost. The off-topic area has been a huge source of problems and no one wants to babysit any more. End of story.

I'm still on CDs but I am preparing for the inevitable shift... I really like the idea of having an external HD with every song I might ever play in a set all sorted and properly tagged in lossless format. It is a lot of work! In fact, I have been at it since mid-2006, slowly processing all the music I have lying around. Eventually I figure I will purchase a laptop and play with Traktor, but this will take some funding of some kind or another... and at present I am but a poor student

Hidden tracks are annoying, particularly as I am in the process of converting my entire collection to FLAC for DJing. Any time I run across a hidden track I have to go in and break it out using a WAV editor. Irritating.
