Mindsphere? Indeed it does. I can't much get into it either... but this review is about Jikkenteki's Flights Of Infinity an excellent album that I have been very glad to promote far and wide. This album is captivating in a way that few other releases are these days. It isn't just old school revivalism--Jikkenteki has expanded upon classic themes and ideas in an original and refreshing way. Besides which, where else can you hear a trance song half an hour in length that never loses the plot? Flights Of Infinity is a strong argument for breaking down the creative restrictions inherent to the psychedelic trance marketplace. Flights Of Infinity is a great example of what is possible when a talented artist is free to explore their ideas without concern for commercial constraints.

An article on the planned new US Copyright Law
Basilisk replied to NextWorld's topic in General Psytrance
Look, we all use the Internet a fair bit. Could we make at least a cursory effort to investigate wild claims made by heretofore unknown sources? Read this and calm down: http://firefox.org/news/articles/1396/1/Ed...-You/Page1.html -
I am very happy to announce that Magic & Witchcraft will be releasing a track on the very first compilation from Ektoplazm--coming soon! :posford:

NEW Astral Projection album droppin..
Basilisk replied to n0 fingerprintz's topic in General Psytrance
Maybe you missed this part: It really isn't all that different from how the term jew was used years ago--back when it was socially acceptable to throw the term around. It was recognized as insensitive and (after clear arguments were put forward) downright immature to continue using it pejoratively. The issue here is wording that unjustly transfers negative meanings to entire categories of people. Think about it, or go on playing the Internet funny man--I've said my piece. -
I think my experience was just some kind of bizarre horror story not to be repeated. Don't be concerned about all that old stuff, I'm sure Moti's sorted out his practises since then (as all this positive feedback attests).
-
It sounded good at first but didn't really hold up under repeated listening... but with that said, the concept is interesting, and the artist has a lot of promise. Perhaps his next album will be a keeper.

NEW Astral Projection album droppin..

No, that's lame too. Get with the 21st century, boys... you come across as some kind of socially-maladapted wanker when you go on about things you don't like being "gay." What are you, 15 or something? :wank: -
I just added a whole bunch of vinyl to my list... check it out if you're into the wax

Soul Kontakt - Deliverance EP

There were, once upon a time. I think I first heard Mainframe after downloading a 128k MP3 from "The Temple," the web site that introduced me to the artists behind the music (previously I had only heard Goa trance at a few raves in my area). Back then MP3s were so new that people didn't think twice about passing them on--not like today. Anyhow, I went looking but can't seem to find the tracks anywhere online (aside from the usual pay-for-download pirate sites that sell pretty much everything). I did, however, run across this very interesting review: http://www.markainley.com/music/electronic...th_no_name.html

Have you heard these two songs by Man With No Name? They are exclusive to the Japanese release of Earth Moving The Sun: http://www.discogs.com/release/407622 In a strange twist of fate, back when I first got into Goa trance it was the Japanese version that I heard first (through MP3s of course, back in the days before Audiogalaxy). Ever since then I've been searching for the actual CD release but have had no luck (50 pounds+ is way out of my price range). It is a real shame these two tracks were never licensed for release in the west--Mainframe is particularly good. Anyhow, I wanted to highlight these two tracks in case any old school fans here hadn't run across them... they are, by far, the most obscure tracks in Martin Freeland's extensive discography. Don't miss out on them

Nolax - Persistence 2.0 CD Release
Basilisk replied to digitoxin's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Sweet, it's about time... I've update the promotional page on Ektoplazm to link to your sales page: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/nolax-persistence-20/ -
Yes, what I call the "Y2K Remix" is just Etnica's own remix released around that time on a number of compilations and the Hell's Kitchen vinyl. Interesting, is there really another version from 1998 or is it just the same?
-
All of the artists involved in this project have done much better work on their own time, IMHO. It is too cheesy...
-
Well, for two reasons: 1) in case there are people who don't like any of the remixes but enjoy the original, and 2) to find out if any of the remixes are even more popular than the original.
-
Which one is this? Is it released? Or are you confusing it with the Y2K remix by Etnica...
-
Since this classic has been remixed so many times I thought it might be fun to have a little survey and see which ones are popular with Psynews members... if I have missed any particular remix just let me know and I'll add it in. I've only heard the NASA remix once but it really sounded great! Hopefully it will be coming out this year but I have no specific news to report on that at this time...

What music are you listening to right now?
Basilisk replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
SubConsciousMind - Intermezzo EP. I think all of you new school Goa fanatics and Suomi-style fans are going to dig this one... it is very different, very melodic. -
Well, the concept is live! You can now buy the first two releases on the Ektoplazm netlabel direct from the factory... and the same goes for Jikkenteki's excellent album Flights Of Infinity! The next step is the development of a proper online shop for these CDs... currently we are bootstrapping off the complimentary order screen at the factory but we can do better. I hope to have something live in the next couple of months. Anyhow, I did want to update this thread and thank everyone for their contribution for the discussion. I am very excited that the dream--free downloads and physical media for those that want it--has become a reality!

My review (slightly more critical than anything here): http://www.ektoplazm.com/reviews/electric-...erse-stardiver/

When I read a review I generally want to know a few simple things: is it anything like the artist's previous work, or--if the artist is new--where are they from and what is their approach? What is the overall sound of the album? What are the good tracks? Does it all hang together and leave a lasting impression? What is the intended audience? And finally--are there any defects in the manufacturing process, mastering, artwork, track listing, etc. I really like knowing what tracks stand out... but all these other concerns are important as well. Generally I try to provide all this stuff in my own reviews (when I have the time to write them)... now that school is almost over I hope to have more time for reviews

Cytopia, Beatport, Trackitdown, and Juno are the places to look... selection remains limited, however. If you like darkpsy there are a few more speciality shops (D-A-R-K and Metaforce) plus the odd artist shop (Vibrasphere has the best one out there).

We crossed the 200,000 download mark tonight... doubling the previous milestone in less than 3 months! I wonder if we'll pass half a million by Halloween of this year?
