VA/Energetic (Eutuchia Records)
Basilisk replied to Metapsychic_Records's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
This is the real nitzhonot all right... not really my style but I like that people are keeping it alive in an underground way. -
That's fine by me!

This one certainly deserves a re-release.
-
Damn, what a wait it has been.

Things are motoring along... this compilation will also feature material from Jikkenteki, New Born, and Clone, with a few more to be confirmed shortly... :posford:

Nope! "Neo" full-on came around in about 2003 when a few labels decided to rebrand themselves and shy away from the GMS/Astrix crowd... the idea behind the neo style was to merge progressive sensibilities with the full-on drive. What resulted, more often than not, was a hodge-podge of droning beats with few melodic characteristics. I mean, they basically asked full-on artists to tone it down and the labels ended up with sterile remains that really, in my opinion, weren't interesting at all. Neo Goa trance on the other hand is purely made up. New school Goa is the term you hear people toss around these days... and really, there's something to it. There was a period--sometime around when I released the CHI-A.D. vinyl on my label--where the situation seemed really dire. The uplifting spirit of the Goa trance era had been so quickly washed away by minimal and (later) full-on that many were left absolutely floored that this music they were so passionate about seemed to have vanished, virtually overnight. I mean, there was a time when albums like Electron Wave and Ra - To Sirius were just about the only new releases on the market. Obscure stuff like Poly 61 was hard to find (and even now, many have not discovered them). This all turned around through the sheer determination of a small number of people--many of whom include familiar faces like Filteria, Mars, Anoebis, etc. Suntrip really kick-started the genuine new school Goa movement if you ask me. And the spatio-temporal context of movements within psychedelic trance history is very important. New school Goa might not sound very different from the original mid-nineties material from which it was inspired, but that's often the point! We missed that music. This doesn't mean it is the same--you cannot (or would be foolish to) consider music without respect for where it came from and who was making it and when it was produced and then released. These are important matters--go beyond the mere sound of things and try to understand the historic context. New school Goa trance is a bona fide movement, make no mistake about it. At any rate, that's my impression of what's been going on.

I notice that people almost use "full-on" as a catch-all for modern DJ-oriented psytrance they don't like. For instance, if a Psynews forum reader likes a new release, well it can't be full-on can it? Whereas if they don't... well that's just some more of that full-on rubbish! Like any sub-variant of psytrance, full-on has its good points and bad. It helps to remember that this is music made for the party context--not at home. I know a lot of people that do enjoy it at home because it reminds them of the energy of a good party, but most forum readers here seem to be fairly disconnected from the whole party thing in general. That is where the clash may be coming from.

Which is the One track that defines Psytrance?

LSD, clearly. This isn't much of a contest. -
Opinions are divided I really got into it in the last little while.

Sound Field - Ascension EP [D Oxygen Records 2007] Reviewed By: Basilisk / http://www.ektoplazm.com Track List: 01 :: Sound Field feat. Threshold Productions - Ascension (8:16) 02 :: Sound Field - Tribalogic (8:27) Oxygen Records is an established boutique label specializing in a smooth fusion of progressive grooves and full-on energy ideal for the morning hours. Label owner DJ TV has recently founded a “sister label” by the name of D Oxygen Records to make headway in the expanding digital media marketplace. The first release from this new imprint features a pair of unusual tracks from Sound Field (Andy Yakovlev AKA Sonify), already known from the release of the full-length Audio Surfin’ on Oxygen in early 2007. On the title track, Sound Field renews his association with Threshold Productions (Torsten Edwinson) of Sweden. Previously, Andy and Torsten released the No More Silence EP on Baroque Limited in 2005. Cruising along at 130 BPM, the thick and chunky rhythms of this progressive floor burner instantly establish a catchy groove. Before long, mystic atmospheric themes soar skyward as a dazzling set of subtle melodies unfold in the middle reaches. The sample, taken from The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, certainly contributes to the otherworldly mood: “But that sunset! I’ve never seen anything like it in my wildest dreams. The two suns! It was like mountains of fire boiling into space.” Whereas electro influences dominate modern progressive psytrance, Ascension restores faith in the vibrant effervescence of deep and truly psychedelic trance. Enchanting! Tribologic represents the more energetic side of Andy’s work as Sound Field. With the tempo raised to 142 BPM, the pumping robotic beats surge forth with impunity, nicely complimented by the patter of light tribal drums. Strange female vocals are littered throughout the song, spicing up the sparser moments with another touch of the alien. This song takes a little while to build steam but the mesmerizing leads that emerge in the later moments are worth the wait. These melodies that come whirling in from the outer darkness invite comparisons with those of Corridor Of Mirrors, the recent album from Twisted Records artist Prometheus. The results are quite satisfying, once again. As a side note, a remix of Tribologic by Amygdala is available on the Mainspring Motion compilation from PAR-2 Productions. The release of the Ascension EP is a great beginning for D Oxygen Records. Breaking with convention, Sound Field explores pure psychedelic trance with two distinct approaches, both of which yield success. Look for the Ascension EP at Beatport, iTunes, and many other digital download shops. Full review taken from: http://www.ektoplazm.com/reviews/sound-field-ascension-ep/

Total Eclipse - Far Beyond Speech (1995) An overlooked classic.

These might be worth more than you're asking but none are truly rare. I made a bit on the TIP records you list here, however... and Flying Rhino continues to have staying power with some collectors.

This morning I am quite satisfied with F.S.O.L. - Cascade.

I added a few more today.

http://www.discogs.com/release/176532 ? I think he means something like hard trance... but he's right that some of what is called psychedelic trance isn't very psychedelic (assuming that the word refers to a quality that promotes something like visual association).

HMV is not really a valid benchmark, donkey lovers

Solano's Innovation off of Dusty Nation 3 has a melody that sounds exactly like half of a lead in one of Lish's tracks from Free Fall. But you old school fans would like something more interesting than that... so let me turn you on to this curious synchronicity: SFX's Allah Acbar (1992) and Kraftwerk - The Robots. No, really, try it out.

How is space tribe - the ultraviolet catastrophe?
Basilisk replied to radi6404's topic in General Psytrance
Nuclear Fission Chips was made in collaboration with Avi Algarnati (Space Cat) which might explain a thing or two. Olli's best tunes in the nineties were often collaborations.
