  1. Let There Be Light is NOT T.B. Light.
  2. They are pretty cool My list, off the top of my head: Man With No Name - Moment of Truth Man With No Name - Earth Moving The Sun (Japanese Version) Blue Planet Corporation - Blue Planet Cosmosis - (the first three albums on CD) Deviant Electronics - Brainwashing Is Childs Play Double Dragon - Continuum GMS - The Growly Family Green Nuns - Rock Bitch Mafia Juno Reactor - Beyond The Infinite Koxbox - Life Is (CDS) Koxbox - The Great Unknown Logic Bomb - Headware / Unlimited Lunar Asylum - Lunar Asylum Pleiadians - IFO Saafi Brothers - (both albums on CD) Spectral - Celtic Alchemy (CDS) Tim Schuldt - Singles Collection Transwave - Hypnorythm EP V/A - 3D V/A - Air Born (actually it is pointless to list compilations... there are many) In fact, most of these are not too rare... I just haven't been willing to pay through the nose since I already own 95% of this on vinyl. But hey, if anyone wants to part with any of these for a reasonable price I'm totally open to it...
  3. Let's see... I have: 1) darkpsy/full-on 2) prog/tech 3) old school 4) psychill 5) Y2K psy/prog/minimal 6) modern Goa trance and other weird stuff that doesn't fit elsewhere 7) archive The top three are 208 CD binders while the others hold about half as much. The archive is a fat case for all the stuff I "retire" thinking that I won't use it in either mix-making or any DJ set.
  4. Having recently done a thorough review of Transient Dawn I was reminded of the old tribal classic The Vision by Cosmix & Kristian (Elysium)... check that one out!
  5. This review may be of interest Concept In Dance 1 - Digital Alchemy (1994) http://www.ektoplazm.com/reviews/digital-alchemy/
  6. Will we hear the sound of horses on every track I wonder?
  7. All right, relax. Just breathe About Planet B.E.N... Trippy Future Garden is indeed impressive given the date of composition, but did these tracks have any impact at all? Were they circulated on DAT to the DJs of the time; were they relevant back in the year of their creation? I wonder if it was merely material sitting around for some time that eventually saw the light of day on Polytox... I am actually writing up a proper review of this oldie so any bit of trivia concerning it would be very helpful... the most critical thing I have been unable to verify is simply whether Ben actually had any measurable influence on the development of trance with the material found on Trippy Future Garden, or whether his role was limited to whatever effect may have been achieved with those early remixes and co-productions released on Tunnel and Superstition and such. For that matter I may as well ask how far and how wide early X-Dream productions travelled... anyone know?
  8. Haha... whatever. That's pretty funny... file under "so bad it's good" just like this one:
  9. I can't be bothered, but I think the world needs a dedicated old school radio station... I have never found one... in fact, I was just reading the FAQ on Philosomatika and discovered they simply cleared off absolutely everything made before 2004. WTF? Anytime I have tried out a new station I thought the track election was simply abysmal, as if they imported every MP3 they downloaded in the last year and hit random. I'd love to do a station myself but it seems like an awful lot of work...
  10. Say what you will about Hom-Mega and full-on in general, Xerox & Illumination have this remarkable ability to go against the grain and actually get better with every album. I have some hope in this one, and the name sounds quite promising as well...
  11. If you ask me it would be better to professionally package this and release it for free online... thank the fans and all that, as well as gain some great promotion for the upcoming projects. I am of course supportive of the project but I have concerns about cost and quality... the situation I would prefer to avoid is one where this special unreleased album, aimed at fans, is unavailable in WAV quality and/or ends up costing more than a physical CD would. That would be unfortunate.
  12. It is 2007... it seems hard to believe people are still locked in a dogmatic war over IFO vs FOL as if it were armageddon.
  13. How about another pie in the face for this "visionary pioneer" who seems to feel that the stagnation of psytrance will be cured with guitar riffs and electro influences....
  14. This has potential... it took a long while for me to really get into Mind-dala, but now I appreciate how polished it is... contrary to that, Elements has not weathered time very well... there are still some individual songs or brief moments or particular melodies I enjoy but it doesn't quite hold together any more... not for me, anyhow. I will give this new album a good chance on my stereo!
  15. I wonder if there has ever been successful legal action in the entire history of the psytrance movement... let's face it, the amount of money is small and most disputes cross national (even continental) boundaries. I know everyone uses contracts and such but business is essentially done on the honour system. Disputes are made through angry email and IM chat sessions that ultimately devolve into an outraged posting in the Isratrance general forum. At least that's how I see it... I have heard enough stories of labels and artists getting fucked over--hell even I paid an artist USD$300 once and never received a thing. It sucks, which is why doing business with people you know (i.e. the Digital Structures model) seems to be better for all involved.
  16. At first I really disliked Cosmo and Highko but I think I was considering their music from the wrong perspective... see it's that jittery kind of madly technical psytrance that stops and starts far too much to really get into a groove but once I take off my trance hat I find I kind of like how mad it is, depending on the track. The hardcore kids like it too.
  17. This is nothing new... most distributors have these accusations leveled against them at some point or another... ZMA has been a subject of suspicion for years now. What passes for business ethics in the psytrance underground would make your blood curdle.
  18. Whatever... Labyrinth is true art. It seems we must disagree yet again. Yes, totally... it's why I threw a Juno Reactor tune into my Blade Runner tribute mix This is great news!
  19. Heheh... well, this is why I take detailed notes and publish reviews I guess. I had to look back on my site to find out what I thought of it, and don't think I liked it any more than the rest. Cleopatra Cannonball almost had me going but I think that if it's not the sheer stupidity of the samples and presentation it's the adolescent "I'm in ur base killin ur d00dz" sort of feel that nukes any possibility of me really enjoying this stuff...
