Why is it that when I go sampling other types of modern electronic music I keep tripping over weird-ass incomprehensible breakcore or willowy click-prone elevator ambient? I guess I just need to keep trying... and in the meantime, smirk at the bizarre stuff I have come across while randomly sifting through Discogs.
100% agreed... 12 Moons remains one of my favourite producers, and Solid State is a true masterpiece of pure trance music.
I would imagine ukiro can share some of the story... I don't want to relate second-hand impressions here.
Thanks you for your stories... I have been working on this a bit more one thing of interest... I compiled a list of the 25 "most talked about" albums reviewed on TRiP... these were the ones that developed the most buzz online!
1. Astral Projection - Dancing Galaxy
2. Astral Projection - The Astral Files
3. Infected Mushroom - The Gathering
4. Astral Projection - Another World
5. Hallucinogen - Twisted
6. Hallucinogen - The Lone Deranger

8. Shpongle - Are You Shpongled?
9. Astral Projection - Trust In Trance 3
10. Etnica - Equator
11. Juno Reactor - Bible of Dreams
12. MFG - Project Genesis
13. Man With No Name - Earth Moving the Sun
14. Jaia - Blue Energy
15. Shakta - Silicon Trip

Of course many famous releases did not stimulate much discussion and reviewing (by volume anyway)... notably absent are:
X-Dream’s Radio (#27)
Koxbox - Dragon Tales (#36)
V/A - Yellow (#49)
Dimension 5 (#51)
Doof - Let’s Turn On (#71)
Transwave - Helium (#82)
The Infinity Project - Feeling Weird (#100)
Total Eclipse - Delta Aquarids (#127)
Keep those tales spinnin' if you got 'em
The bad flyer design is either clever as hell or merely the result of chance... but to me it seems like having a crappy flyer in Israel might mean less arsim (that term still in use?) and other undesirables... whatever works it's a nice, diverse line-up anyhow.
There is some strange stuff going on over there... take this, for example:
http://www.discogs.com/release/15292
Limited to 50 copies worldwide... 163 people have it in their collection? Well, it doesn't take a genius to sort that one out...
How about the Urban Awakening compilation, or some of the new material from Holeg & Spies? Aurinko (and Atomic) had a very unique sound, but there isn't much like it any more... then again, imagine if Boshke Beats did darkpsy...
