That is totally bizarre. I wonder though... any time I've posted a Neogoa release on my own page Facebook hasn't let me link to the Neogoa page itself. I always got a warning saying "this account has been flagged for spam" or something to that effect. This goes back at least a year or so. A clue?

This is absolutely fantastic from start to finish... highly polished, super musical, ranging through all sorts of different broken beat motifs... delicious!

Thank you for the warm words expressed here. I regret that I have not been as engaged in these forums as I once was. Ektoplazm owes a lot to the Psynews community and the many discussions that have taken place here! I will have to look that up again to be sure. When I was compiling the "best of" project I put absolutely everything into a single playlist and was astounded to see just how much music has passed through the site over the years. Another year or so has passed since I last looked so the total is even higher now... but I don't want to go throwing numbers around without being in the right ballpark So, the update... the best I can say right now is to watch the blog. I have been working behind the scenes since the campaign ended to do the things necessary to ensure the long-term survival of the site (and its transformation into something more modern). Now that the major perks from the crowdfunding campaign have been sent out I will be preparing a proper update explaining what is going on with 2.0 and what to expect in the future. I don't want anyone to think I've abandoned the project, however. In fact, my entire life is organized around making 2.0 possible. Absolutely. I never forget that I am simply an intermediary bridging the gap between content creators and consumers. Without the ingenuity of the labels and artists contributing music none of this would be possible. Anyway, the "best of" compilation is now available to the public; get your copy here http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/ektoplazms-greatest-trips

Glad to be of service and I apologize for it taking so long to get online. I'm happy to see this project reach fruition and I hope the Psynews community continues the tradition of contests now that the ball is rolling again congrats again to all the winners!

The harsh reality... Why Psytrance has become shit
Basilisk replied to Anoebis's topic in General Psytrance
This video is blowing up everywhere. It's even huge on Reddit. I appreciate Loud's sense of humour and the points made therein... but to treat this as a serious, comprehensive survey of all the things that are wrong with psytrance today is to totally miss the joke. I don't think this deserves serious scrutiny and debate. LOL and move on, you know? Still, if I am to give my 2 cents, I would sum up their top ten list like this: psytrance is shit because producers are unoriginal hacks pumping out cookie cutter garbage with a high level of craftsmanship/technical skill but no real artistic value. But hey, it's dance music, and there's always a lot of that generic filler going around no matter what style or time period you examine so don't sweat it... just focus on what's good. -

Um.. What's wrong with "Amithaba"/Felipe?
Basilisk replied to Shpongled247's topic in General Psytrance
I haven't been watching this too closely... which is just as well. He's just up to his old tricks again, making problems and acting crazy. Like others I hope he gets the help he needs. I'm just glad I didn't get more involved when he approached me to start releasing again. -
I am happy to see this gem get a little recognition... Hinkstep's debut is still among my favourite downtempo releases of the last few years. (And I'm not just saying that because, well, you know!)

I ditched all my CDs years ago. My collection is properly tagged and filed FLACs plus a sprawling bunch of style-specific crates filled with any single tracks I might want to use while mixing. I bounce MP3 copies of anything I feel like listening to on my phone and then delete that stuff at will since I have a master FLAC copy and multiply redundant backups (external HDs plus Backblaze, a cloud backup service I heartily recommend). If you handed me a CD today I wouldn't even have any way to listen to it. Neither of my laptops have CD drives. One never came with one, the other was ejected in favour of an extra HD caddy and now holds a terabyte of extremely well-sorted FLAC awesomeness... pretty close to every single Goa trance song I might ever want to play or listen to.

UX - Ultimate Experience Reloaded!
Basilisk replied to masen023's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
I am not sure, Den just sent it my way so I jumped at the chance to put it up. UX is still one of my all-time favourites, how could I not? About the cover controversy, I happen to think it's totally fine. I see a cover like that and it immediately reminds me of the 1990s. Maybe some of the technical stuff isn't perfect but in terms of representing the release and what it's all about I'm all for it, cyberpunk girl and all. -

Here's the announcement I promised: http://www.ektoplazm.com/blog/ektoplazm-metamorphosis-2012 A lot of work is going on behind the scenes I might not be so visible on forums and such for a while as I gear up to get things done... watch the blog for more announcements; there will be some big ones before long! Thanks again for all the support and help in making this dream a reality! -
I remember discovering it on my vinyl copy of Alien Protein and intensely disliking it.

Psytrance/Goa on wikipedia: Time for an update?

I've been griping about this travesty for years. It's embarrassing. -

Looks like we made it with time to spare there's another 9 hours to the campaign if anyone would still like to contribute (the more the merrier). In the coming days I'll make a post about what happens next. Thanks again for everyone's support I'm excited to get to work! -
Ektoplazm needs your help!
Basilisk replied to Basilisk's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
I hope you're wrong too I certainly don't want it to become another mainstream portal... the goal here is simply to broaden the horizons to adjacent styles of electronic music. There's a lot of good stuff going on out there. I feel that limiting the offerings to a single style of electronic music is something of a suicide pact. Everything needs to grow and change in time. Reddit does a great job of supporting niche communities while appealing to a broad audience. I'd like to follow something a little like that... -
Yep, "let's talk about Ott" would have been more appropriate if that were the OP's intention. You know, I can't really think of any Ott songs that I really dislike. Usually I just play whatever album and enjoy the ride.
