  1. Aha... so I'm not the only one that feels that way.
  2. Not only is it a fantastic song, but that is a mighty cool video as well (seen it before). I cannot think of anything better.
  3. High expectations are the cause of disappointment... luckily I don't think this will be any good, so perhaps I could be surprised! Obvious prediction: before long this exact same thread will repeat with every instance of "Pleiadians" replaced by "Transwave."
  4. The labels that don't care for the money disappear, leaving those that have turned their operation into a profitable enterprise to fill the shops with their marketable products. If you want to refine your assessment, the problem is actually money itself. Yeah, I did that... and I still have about 250 CHI-A.D. vinyl singles taking up space in my closet but at least I finally paid down the debt from that project this year. Be the change you want to see, but unfettered idealism is only going to get you into trouble once you start dealing with cold hard cash.
  5. Clearly this must be the informed opinion of a broad-minded music expert of the highest calibre.
  6. Shipping costs can make or break the value of an order!
  7. Hallucinogen remixing Ozric Tentacles... brilliant and overlooked! Just prepping for my set on Saturday and I think this one is totally in... especially after discovering what I can mix this with
  8. This one definitely earns the "what the fuck" of the year award. I played a set at a speedcore/gabber sort of party and this stuff blended right in (or perhaps even sounded crazier). Wild stuff, still not exactly sure what to make of it, but it is clear enough that this release brings psytrance to a new extreme.
  9. Why not ask the shops to send you the CDs you want for free since you're such a super mega awesome dude? Surely they will consider your reasonable demands.
  10. Why is it always the vocal tracks that are picked for a big remix project?
  11. You're joking, but then there's Gappeq - One Soul.
  12. You know whats worth a laugh? Terminator - Tribal Dance.
  13. Dig deeper... there is so much music, new and old, that I never find a dull moment... if I get tired of one style I go spend a bit more time with another style I enjoy. I woke up this morning and listened to some ancient tunes from SFX, a couple of those Ozric Tentacles remixes released back in 1999, and this afternoon a new shipment came in... I immediately threw Sensient's new album in, and now I'm on a techno kick with Thomas P. Heckmann, soon enough will load up the new Phatmatix before I head home. I have a set to play this weekend and the question is basically: how much Juno Reactor can I throw in there? Shpongle? Eat Static? Lunaspice? Could I get away with Snake Thing - Blizzard of Ooze? There is just not enough time in the day to process it all!
  14. Re: Xtra Unit... this is pure jokes... the sample is extremely short and just there to fuck with a crowd. No big deal.
  15. Solstice Black Compilation #02 Eat Static does their best Koxbox impression, TPH serves up a dancefloor-ready version of MLO, The Delta drops in with an (allegedly) old tune that still works, and then there is a lot of electro-tech stuff that sure ain't tweakin' my knobs... especially the piece from Front 242: what the hell was that?
  16. Short answer: you need a client like this one installed to use the .torrent. Download, install, open the file, and you're set! Long answer: read the helpful guide I wrote on my site
  17. All kinds... except for the disposable "commercial" rubbish.
  18. Logic Bomb uses a ton... I remember a few from Alpha Centauri that have been used in several tracks... "might I be a brain in a tank, tricked all this time into believing the events of this universe?" or something of that nature...
  19. Forever After, of course... it was one of the very first trance CDs I ever purchased, and it suits a much wider contextual spectrum... just this summer I let it play out on an unreasonably loud system in the middle of the woods at a remote cabin in Northern Ontario in the heart of the night... sat back in the cedar-lined hot tub and gazed at the stars... imagine that, if you will. U-Turn would never achieve the same effect. It is designed with a specialized purpose in mind... but I do not spend very much time on the dance floor... hence U-Turn will not receive nearly as much play as the classic Forever After.
  20. It will not satisfy the die-hard old school purist, but the new one is still interesting ear candy and good for the modern dance floor.
  21. This topic came up on Psynews... here was my response (slightly edited): "Psy house" is misleading terminology... as mentioned, most psytrance lacks the required level of funk (Healey/Allen projects excepted, with a nod to pr0fane). This type of music usually falls into the progressive realm... since the psytrance world is so insular and segregated, we often forget that "our" progressive is but one subset of a greater progressive movement, bent on taking established electronic music styles and moving them into the future. This is often in the pursuit of a higher level of sophistication, as leading artists focus on subtlety, minimalism, a cleaner more "mature" aesthetic, and better sound quality using state-of-the-art production techniques. Since the "progressive" approach is fairly widespread, encompassing artists and labels from many distinct EDM genres, the results from these disparate scenes have been increasingly convergent; the distinction between house, trance, and techno blends into irrelevance. Is Minilogue minimal electro, progressive house, or glitchy techno? How about Extrawelt? The point is, "psy house" has little to do with "house music" as Jack would see it... the term has a certain enduring currency (I've heard this term for years) perhaps because the concept is very easy to relate to, however ill-conceived and erroneous it may be. Addendum: psychedelic house does exist, but you will need to turn back the clock to find anything that doesn't automatically fall into the realm of "progressive" by virtue of possessing a smoother sound. Consider Snake Thing, Eat Static, and (perhaps) C.O.N. Sequencer, or refer back to the aforementioned Allen & Healey projects such as Quirk or Electric Tease. Blizzard of Ooze is the quintessential psychedelic house track as far as I am concerned, but can you name anything else like it? Modern stuff doesn't get so brash and funky while maintaining the weirdness. I tend to think of the Iboga style as progressive psytrance, while Beckers et al are firmly within the progressive house realm. That's my take on it anyhow. Lastly, if you're curious about the borderlands where psytrance meets progressive house, check out a mix of mine: http://www.ektoplazm.com/audio/basilisk-li...t-harvest-2006/
  22. You've got my support! Excellent effort everyone! BitTorrent links and my own words available here: http://www.ektoplazm.com/audio/pyramidal-trancendence/
  23. I am also unsure about it so far... it's a weird surprise.
