  1. Some of them are quite funny, like Terminator remixing 2 Unlimited, or Dominator's take on Daft Punk - Around the World. And I haven't even mentioned The Prodigy yet!
  2. 50 Cent, The Doors, Inspector Gadget, Transformers, Gremlins, Rhythm is a Dancer, Walk Like An Egyptian, ATB, Britney Spears, Duran Duran, We Will Rock You, Pink Panther, Whole Lotta Love, Mission Impossible, MC Hammer, and so on and so forth... every daft cover I come across. There are a bloody lot of them.
  3. I don't listen to this stuff unless I want a laugh... but then again, I do collect crap remixes, so I can't wait to add this to the pile... move over Mr. Vain! Make some room, Metallica! Outta the way, AC/DC!
  4. A while back I had the challenge to do a love themed set for some friends (it was their elaborate stag & doe - a fire spinning ceremony was involved) and I was really stumped... truly passionate trance music is hard to come by, at least by my standards... however, I did find one track that I felt was about as good as it's gonna get: Ott's remix of Around the World in a Tea Daze by Shpongle! Slow dance time
  5. 1) Trust in Trance 2) The Astral Files 3) Dancing Galaxy 4) Another World 5) Amen The confusion over Trust in Trance may be that it was originally released as a compilation that was later re-released as a full artist album. Personally, I call it an album. Go with it

Naturally it isn't as polished as my studio mixes, but it sounds good enough to send around. As I was opening the trance tent at nine p.m., the intent behind this performance was to get the night started right, beginning with an old favourite from 1992. From there I dig into progressive trance and tribal house territory, keeping it all fairly low-key. The final half hour picks up the pace, taking the crowd on an electro rollercoaster ride designed to get everyone pumped and psyched for a full night of dancing and celebration. Enjoy! Download: [HERE!] Mixed by: Basilisk [Ektoplazm] Style: progressive house, trance, and electro with a “psychedelic” touch! Size: 179Mb Format: 256k MP3 Length: 95 minutes Recorded: September 16th, 2006 I would greatly appreciate any comments cross-posted to my site
  7. Nice one. I recently reviewed Trust in Trance and it still sounds as good as ever to my ears... Agreed. I have sometimes mused on the correlation between the effects of trance music and religion, as well as drugs... for me, the best stuff is that which takes me somewhere without any chemical or dogmatic assistance. "Travel without moving" as the famous sample goes. Luckily for me, I enjoy a wide range of moods and mental states... so while Astral Projection (and plenty of old school Goa) may bring me on a cosmic trip in the right set and setting, modern works bring me to entirely different states of being that I can also appreciate. Derango is an intense experience in the deep forest, Nuclear Ramjet throws me into 2001: A Space Odyssey, Tegma takes me around the world, and Jaia tells a very open-ended story that feels very human, and very alive, to me... and so on. There are many examples of modern works that take me places... it's just that these stories are not the stories of old. Few of them capture that exact "flying into a star" feeling that the old school masters were so good at... the thing is - I still have music that does that. New music is taking me to other places which are still worth visiting. I think it may help to consider modern works in a different light, should you find yourself unable to really enjoy the experience of listening to the best of what the scene has to offer these days... there are still great stories being told, and I wouldn't want anyone to miss them
  8. You. Out of this thread. Now!
  9. I really warmed up to the last album... looking forward to this one as well! There is still a jazzy touch, I hope? Good luck on it!
  10. Yes, it is all my work... thanks
  11. Agreed... they are one of the most interesting artists to follow through the years... it doesn't seem like this opinion is widely shared however.
  12. Guy on cover = that's gay. Girl on cover = teh instant win! You people suck
  13. If you're starting to bring up the notion of "a male artist who puts himself on his album cover is gay" then that's sad. I tried to start up a new "stupid covers" thread precisely because of the argument that broke out only a few pages ago. It seems there is no escaping the sly intolerance and (at times) outright homophobia here at psynews.
  14. Relax guys, it's a pure proggy album... have you ever heard a Fitalic tune? Some nice stuff, but it's more on the straight trance side of things, with a cover to match. Easy.
  15. Sure, if they are something substantial.... the only thing I'm not really doing is mixes, coz there are a lot of them, and I usually don't have the time to go through very many...
  16. I still prefer a pro-quality CD that I can hold in my hands. Luckily with today's technology, even if it isn't economically viable to be releasing the old school style, it is quite possible to have a pro release that listeners around the world can burn a copy of and print a cover for. The thing that boggles my mind is that no one is doing it! Still, there's lots of time... And a little plug... For all your free music needs -> http://www.ektoplazm.com/downloads/ Prospective compilers/netlabels/etc who want a little help getting their stuff on BitTorrent, feel free to contact me...
  17. *bump* I'll check mixes and whatever else when I get some time... but just in case there are any more free releases in the works, remember I can help out! Peace.

Many auctions ending tomorrow, so get your bids in! Peace.
  19. I played it saturday morning at the Samadhi festival in Quebec this year... gorgeous track for the rising sun.
  20. Video game music or 1980s cartoon soundtrack? Kind of funny, really...
  21. Here we have it - I just finished my retrospective piece on the music in question: http://www.ektoplazm.com/reviews/koxbox-world-of-illusions/
