  1. I bought it and added to my stack of crazy Sundance releases that I never seem to listen to or mix with. Maybe I'll get into it some time. I liked the drum programming on some songs... catchy distorted melodies... it's pretty wild. Maybe I'll dust it off tonight.
  2. Jeez. When is it going to end? http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=32282 Ace Ventura did a decent job at least.
  3. That's not quite what I had in mind when I've stated Ghreg on Earth compliments Psykovsky nicely, but it works just as well
  4. I guess I'm a bit of a purist... I try to play music at the tempo the author intended.
  5. I played Incredible News to Access to death back in the day... sick tune! It goes nicely with all the Cydonia / Semsis / Psychaos industrial pre-killargh.
  6. http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://goatrance.free.fr http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.psynews.org A great way to dig into the old reviews again! And you think today's comments are far out... check out the incredible chutzpah of psynews members years ago (myself included, what a jerk)! But wait, that's not all! It seems this is a fantastic research tool as well... some creative poking around will reveal: http://web.archive.org/web/*hh_/www.third-eye.org.uk/trip/ DREAM CREATION http://web.archive.org/web/*hh_/www.third-...dream-creation/ * including an interview with Peter Candy when he was still a member of Koxbox, holy shit! POF! http://web.archive.org/web/19970220153717/www.techno.de/pof/ I'm sure many other dead labels can be found here... If anyone remembers the address for IMPLANT that would be damn fine... or any other old and informative sites you can think of that are long dead! Yeahhh!
  7. Anyone have any idea if this is Dag Wallin remixing this tune? I just saw it on beatport: http://www.discogs.com/release/509651 ...can't find info anywhere. How about you nerds?
  8. Does anyone have the time to experiment with a whole collection? If you're going to build a harmonic set that also has a flow in terms of energy, mood, and style... you need a LOT of keyed tracks. I should know
  9. Definatly... it can't be the average though, can it? I think it's bullshit that the artists get paid nothing at all and the label still sells the compilation at a profit. Of course I'm all for free releases, and artists donating tracks, but this poll is about commercial releases.
  10. It's a simple poll, really. How much do you think is fair payment for an artist releasing one track on a compilation? Think of the average case, neither new nor a veteran... what do you think is fairly standard? I wonder if the listening public has much of an idea of what some artists ask for one song on a compilation. Let's say the funds are in U.S. cash. What's your guess?
  11. 1999 I think... Hexenkessel still rocks.
  12. Bring Your Own Bios is sure to come up a lot.
  13. Who said you had to quit your day job to make trance?
  14. I think you might have luck in London's used shops, but it's just a guess... I know I would budget myself a week if I ever went over the pond. Parts of Germany probably have the same thing going on, but I wouldn't know what city to start in...
  15. I think we're ideologically at right-angles here... post-millenial Goa releases are primarily imitative and don't push the concept forward, I would agree. It doesn't mean the music isn't welcome though. Not in my case at least. I think you're taking issue with people saying "it's groundbreaking" but is that really such a big deal? I'm all for the revivalist movement... and if people want to pay tribute to the oldies by making similar sounds with modern production then by all means, go ahead. As far as 'advancing the movement' that's another story. It's why I keep bringing Torakka up most efforts to 'evolve' Goa end up losing the spirit of the classics. Far Out Express takes off in a different direction without mucking that up at least. Most of the others don't manage it... I don't even think it's a case of too much innovation - simply that a lot of artists pick a direction which isn't conducive to carrying on the spirit... usually that direction is biased towards dancefloor-applicability. I think there's a lot more to be done with a more 'musical' approach for lack of a better term...
  16. Total disagreement. There is still more to be explored leading out of the old school Goa sound. Torakka for example?
  17. Yes, it's bloody good, and it's rare to find anything quite like this... BLT & Danny Makov's album Anything U Want comes to mind though. It's not the same style, but they're both brilliant in their own funky way.
  18. Sort of... more like Total Eclipse - Total Eclipse
  19. The old tradition of self-named tracks as a debut is so charming. I miss it. Off-topic quiz - name all the projects with self-named debuts
  20. It's not a compilation for picky-pants psynews members, that's for fucking shure. I've had it for a little while but only listened a few times... tried out the MWNN/Sandman on a dancefloor back in January and the crowd seemed to like it... well, the MWNN was a little on the dull side (Dirty Trick) but Holy Flip did the trick. I think if you don't pay too much attention to the names involved and just consider the music you might find it to be above average full-on... which is, obviously, just for full-on fans and those who at least sometimes like it (points at self)...
  21. Chaos to Order or Mad Lane... Acidica Live also gets a vote, and another one for Intellect. All so good it's a shame about the new stuff, in a way.
  22. Oh COME ON psynews whiners! This isn't to be taken seriously... it's corny by design; a hard-hitting tribute to the cheeky Star Wars empire theme. There is no serious trancing to be had... this is something to hear live and loud at a party and stomp around like a stormtrooper. Music like this has a place too... I know I'll be playing it out AS A JOKE at some of the upcoming raves I'm playing at. Specifically, raves. I wouldn't personally play this at a more mainstream psytrance party. That's the difference! You gotta recognize that some of the South African sound is all about t3H RAvE, love it or hate it! What the fuck else explains Rinkadink or Broken Toy? Get your glowsticks out and wipe vicks vaporub on your crotch, it's time to parttty!
