You're not a party toy?
-
It's still a solid 10/10 from me, no spoilage here. However, I am wondering if anyone has a weird little blip on "From Tokyo" just after the break when the tribal drums come in full force... pressing error?
-
Psytrance Karaoke, anyone? Just picture yourself in a seedy local bar, overproduced kicks coming out of the stereo, and some drunken old-timer belting out "run run run to the citttties of the fuuusha babe!"
-
I think Deedrah's Reload is a direct ancestor of the modern variety of so-called "full-on", which as we know, is not full on in the way that the old school ever was...
-
I'm also very sick of Switch (and it doesn't help that more remixes come out every month)... but D-Nox and Beckers have some good material out there. Most of it is just house or electro or whatever, "progressive" in the sense that it's high-quality production but nothing more... Beckers' Road Movie is an all right tune not mentioned yet... and D-Nox has a cool one Seven Hours? I think it was called... anyway I did like that when I gave it a spin. Plus I will admit, Jet Lag Slave is rockin' - one of the better electro tunes I've stumbled across. Psychedelic? No... but it doesn't always have to be, and a little dose of the non-vocally stuff from D & B can compliment a night of frenzied electronics quite nicely.

Discogs fans seem to be wetting themselves about this label

What music are you listening to right now?

I'm wondering if anyone ever heard these albums? http://www.discogs.com/release/467720 http://www.discogs.com/release/503531 There's another In R Voice CD on the same label that I've never heard of... not to mention the fresh "Scent of Russian Dreams" and Kozlov's ambient album released last year. Is "Loa" also his project? Seems like the guy has 4 or 5 albums out in the last two years but no one's say much. Hidden gem or prolific bunk?

Calling Taika-kim... here's some serendipity

I tried to make an order through email but never received a response... luckily Schlab 7 went into stock at saiko so I picked it up there

Say what you will about things now, at least there are reviews! I've been scouring ebay for deals once again, and much of it is 2000 - 2002 releases, few of which have any respectable reviews anywhere. When you look beyond 2002 into the past reviews are a rather spotty lot, with a few good ones here and there, but it's mostly one-liners and such. When reviews were mostly constricted to print medium they were almost useless... ever try reading those reviews the size of a postage stamp in a trance publication? They aren't very informative. And hey, what label would advertise in a mag that slams their releases anyway? I'd say the reviews have really come a long way... these days you've got a pretty good shot of having some solid opinions to bounce your own off of, and generally there's more meat to chew on. How do you all see it?
-
Acid or ketamine? I'm figuring it's a hearty dose of the latter... this album is pretty fucked up.
-
Yeah, uh, I just skipped that cuz it gets pretty tiring to point out I'm never very serious with Uncle Elysium. I mean, I wrote "No, I guess not... " right below, how much more obvious can I get? Really! Time for the dreaded rolleyes armada.
-
Well, that certainly is the sort of input I was asking for here. I'll admit the 12 Moons is a personal crusade but I stand by Continuum.
-
The story might be different if there were some Elysium albums on the list, wouldn't it now? No, I guess not... Eat Static raises a good question though... what is the real stand-out album from the group?
-
I'm aiming for something slightly different than another best of thread... this is more about legendary releases. Like I said, for people that mention taste, I threw some albums I'm not too keen on into my original list simply because I figure they're important to the history of trance. That's what I'm asking. If you don't like it, it's easy enough to ignore...

I'm looking for some input on a sort of trance Hall of Fame I'm compiling... I'm working on the definitive list, but I'm only one man... some input and feedback would really help. Think about it tho... the HoF isn't purely about individual choices. I'd say Atmos - Headcleaner would deserve a spot despite not really liking the album... it was BIG. It changed everything. Afterwards, one would refer to another artist as having an "Atmos sound" (think of Cosma's Simplicity for example). Here's a short list I've made, by year. Feel free to disagree but tell me why. Feel free to add some as well, or make your own list! What timeless classics can you unearth? 1995 Yellow [T.I.P.] Koxbox - Forever After [Harthouse] Hallucinogen - Twisted [Dragonfly] Total Eclipse - Delta Aquarids [blue Room] Etnica - Alien Protein [blue Room] 1996 Man With No Name - Moment Of Truth [Concept in Dance] Phosphorescent [T.I.P.] Transwave - Phototropic [Distance] 1997 3D [T.I.P.] Astral Projection - Dancing Galaxy [Phonokol/Transient] Green Nuns of the Revolution - Rock Bitch Mafia [Flying Rhino] Hallucinogen - The Lone Deranger [Twisted] Juno Reactor - Bible of Dreams [blue Room] MFG - New Kind of World [Phonokol] Pleiadians - I.F.O. [Dragonfly] 1998 Beyond Colour [T.I.P.] Cosmosis - Synergy [Transient] GMS - The Growly Family [T.I.P.] Jaïa - Blue Energy [Cross] Shpongle - Are You Shpongled? [Twisted] X-Dream - Radio [blue Room] 1999 Blue Planet Corporation - Blue Planet [Flying Rhino] Hux Flux - Cryptic Crunch [Koyote] Infected Mushroom - The Gathering [bNE] Koxbox - The Great Unknown [Liquid Audio Soundz] The Delta - Scizoeffective [d.Drum] 2000 Atmos - Headcleaner [spiral Trax] Double Dragon - Continuum [Phantasm] Infected Mushroom - Classical Mushroom [bNE] 2001 Eat Static - In the Nude! [Mesmobeat] 2002 Saiko-Pod - Phutures & Options [spiral Trax] 2003 Cosma - Non-Stop [Hom-Mega] Spirallianz - Stereopark [spirit Zone] Vibrasphere - Lime Structure [Digital Structures] 2004 12 Moons - Solid State [Candyflip] Juno Reactor - Labyrinth [Metropolis] Prometheus - Robot-o-Chan [Twisted] 2005 Jaïa - Fiction [Digital Structures] Ticon - Zero Six After [Digital Structures]

Can somebody enlighten me on following artists?
Basilisk replied to Goannes's topic in General Psytrance
These two are probably the only lives I'd bother checking into from the list... IA is like CPU in some ways, full-on mental nutter stuff, which I'd probably get a bit tired of after a while... Yab Yum, more tame dark trance with a psychedelic edge - probably better loud and live than it sounds on CD at home (never much liked 'em honestly)... if you miss 'em alll you'll still live -
Glargh! You are obviously from Britney Spears land and don't understand pure dark music!!!
