  1. Before you go shooting your mouth off about something you know very little about, you could always try reading up on the subject.
  2. I know I should probably read all this crap and give a good thoughtful response to change some people's perceptions but I can't bring myself to do it. Taking DJing to a higher level is really much harder than just fucking around. Maybe you're not in tune with the difference between good and bad DJing but it doesn't invalidate the art, if we're going to call it that. How many millions of debates about the definition of art have to pass before it becomes clear that art is what you make of it, and any dedicated soul can make just about anything into an art?

  4. I enjoy reading their enthusiastic comments, it brings a smile to my face As for the release... This is the real Goa trance, another beauty from Sun Trip! I still have to give it many more listens, but this is the sort of compilation I wish I had put together a couple years back when I was pretty hyped for old school sounds... great job guys!

  6. I wonder where they're getting that... it could be dubious. Stores are the industry. They need track names. Maybe they're guessing like us. Or perhaps I'd just like to think this is a big puzzle when it's not
  7. Yeah, it's easy to do. Google it if you want a more thorough method, but basically you wanna see the spectral view of the song and look for big black gaps at the top of the frequency range. If you have EAC (a great CD ripping program) you can hit ctrl+e to edit a WAV, load it, and go view -> spectral. Put any wave file you've ripped from an audio CD on and you'll see it's filled all the way. MP3s have a very jagged look with holes at the top. It's easy to tell. Good luck!
  8. Maybe Artifakts III will come with a complimentary jizz rag.
  9. So when are we going to figure this out? 1: inverted ankh (intro) 2: "Plastic" 3: Mars/man 4: Om 5: numeric 5 (isn't this Ntagathi?) 6: numeric 6 7: numeric 7 (short track) 8: SPQR (oldest acronym in use "Senatus Populusque Romanus" or "the senate and people of Rome") 9: Icthus (the real name of the "Jesus fish" - short track) 10: (X) 11: ?? steps ?? or something Egyptian 12: I think it's called the wadjit eye (Egyptian) 13: (there is a 13th track but no symbol or sign for it) On the back of the liner notes there is a cartouche with a CD, an alien head like on the cover, and the steps again. Maybe the inside of the liner notes possesses the clues... I see some correspondence to the symbols that represent the tracks. There is a roman, a credit card (plastic?), an eye, and a crucifix, all of which could correspond to tracks. There are some other images here which I don't know about... a medieval woodcut of an execution or torture chamber perhaps? Leonardo's famous diagram of a man with outstretched arms? some old porno? two angels in the clouds... a devil overlooking - a snake? there's a festival shot off to the left here as well... and a coin - also looking vaguely Roman... It's just a first look. It's got the feel of a little puzzle though. Maybe the track names can be figured out. Maybe they're supposed to be made up as people try and sort it out? That would be pretty wild.
  10. Does this style have a name yet? There certainly are enough artists making this vaguely Infected derivative stuff.
  11. Q: Who or what is the Quacken???
  12. I listened to this for some reason. Such formula. I actually don't mind the odd Eskimo tune on a compilation but... a three part CD album? What the fuck for? He isn't Wizzy Noise. Eskimo would kick a lot of ass if he took this slightly mysterious sound he sometimes has and actually made his music much more complex and theatrical... As for this... no thanks. Can't say I like artists who make albums which are basically like upgrades isntead of new concepts.
  13. This is the one I've been waiting for!! Praise Artifakt! I'm sure it will be some really twisted innovative madness...
  14. Always making trouble... tsk tsk.
  15. What's the point? Isn't it obvious? To have a version of the mix that can be burned to an audio CD, since many people prefer it that way I don't really set out to make a mix CD length... some come out that way, some don't. I usually find a way after the fact to chop it down to the essential components, which is especially sensible for sending the promos out. But this is a different matter Does high-resolution matter much for printing up a mix cover?
  16. All those mixes have edited versions that fit on an 80 minute audio CD. You don't even need one for Replicant Redux. The .nfo for the other two would include mention that there is a CD-length version for anyone that wants it. Sheesh, can't a guy ask a straight question around here?
  17. I hope everything goes well... I don't know if I see the wisdom in letting people back in who may have been banned several times before though... however, I'll bury any existing grudges (though it is perhaps too strong a word for the mild animosity I feel for some members) and carry on anew. It's not like I get too involved anyway. I'm way more into talking about psytrance here and having pointless mind numbing internet debates on some local non-psy forums (hey no one said they aren't fun)... Like my new avatar? That's me on the left. Guess who the character on the right is? just joking. To perversely borrow a phrase from the worst possible source, keep it cool!
  18. I'm curious to know if anyone prints the graphics provided with a downloaded mix to make an actual CD, or if most people are just listening with MP3 devices at home or wherever. Whe a mix comes with a nice high-quality graphic does that make you want to print it out any more? Or is art only an important thing when you're paying for a release? Any thoughts on the subject?
  19. Well I don't want to pay too much for it really... it's just some decent stuff I'd like to have but nothing too essential I suppose. Strange about the distribution though! So if anyone has it for trade and wants some new stuff... PM me. Thanks guys
  20. People are complainy. I won't even start with this topic. Hmm, maybe a good idea for my new blog...
  21. Great looking gallery, Rik! Killllah pics!
  22. I have a review for Joti Sidhu - Punktuator around somewhere.
