  1. Killlllllllrgh! That was Skazi fast!
  2. Andre Absolut's remix to Haldolium - The Last Dance ...sorting prog...
  3. A wicked surprise... I didn't like the first but all his compilation appearances since then have been kicking ass... this is sure to be something interesting!!
  4. I'm digging through some old magazines and it's almost shocking how things are turned over to the industry sometime after 2000... I actually have a mag that goes WOW - AMAZING - EXCLUSIVE INFECTED MUSHROOM INTERVEiw!!!!!!!1111 and then it's written by the label boss. Whut? Talk about impartiality... The search goes on...
  5. I think it may be a dud, despite liking previous material from Philo/Drop Zone. More listens might prove otherwise but I was initially sort of disappointed.
  6. Forum people aren't too representative of psytrance fans in general. Keep that in mind. It's a motley crew of weirdos around here. They're after your precious bodily fluids!
  7. I'm going to scan any interesting articles and interviews I come across... the Flying Rhino update in Implant 11 is a good example. Cass had just come on board and the label was experiencing the growing pains that led to their redefinition... arguably, it was the beginning of the shift towards minimal, progressive, and psychedelic techno. When you see a shift in a label's discography it's nice to flesh out the story with some reading material... it gives greater perspective to the history of trance.
  8. Ah, excellent! I've already got a spot in the gallery for scans, and can add directories wholesale, any time you like. I find the terminology they use back then very interesting... to think they called Slide "psychedelic techno" in 1996, ha! I've been digging through my own old magazines and making more scans... older issues of Implant, Dream Creation, and Lotus (before 13) would all be very interesting.
  9. Great! He did a nice job with Once Upon a Time as well...
  10. I don't see it at the major shops... anyone?
  11. Hey... does anyone have old trance publications from the 90s, or maybe right around the turn of the millenium? They don't seem to be online very often... I remember implant used to be online but that is no longer the case. I'm just looking to dig around in the history of things and magazines and such seem like a good way to do it does anyone have a stack they don't want any more, or leads on where to find some?
  12. I like both of them... a lot. They compliment one another very well. I voted for both!
  13. After a first listen I prefer the original...
  14. I am looking for turbo giga breakdown of mega weird sounds from another space - will I find it with this album?
  15. Out of that blasting load of ten Deja Vu CDs that came out at the same time I think they could have made like one good compilation. There is a LOT of filler to wade through just to get to the handful of quality tunes in there.
  16. !!! I continually wonder why no one is talking about dumping the old century label hierarchy altogether. The money is no longer in the releases - it's in the gigs. An alternate model for a modern movement is one where music is freely distributed by digital means and revenue is generated through live shows and performance. There will always be a place for traditional labels and marketing and people in the "business" of psytrance, but I think it's about time that people capitalized on the immense publishing powers offered by current technology to break out of the old patterns and start something new. It seems that the Scandinavians and Finns are the only ones riding this wavelength, and I give them big respect for that. Free the music!
  17. You can change key and mix harmonically... there's no need to stick to one key! I've been mixing all my live sets harmonically this summer... yes you need a crapload of music - luckily I've got that. My recent experiment in harmonic mixing led to a 13 track journey that actually circles around the harmonic wheel from start to finish. This was incredibly difficult to accomplish, and there are some odd choices on the mix because of it, but it blends together very nicely I would say. I think it's important that mixes work and sound good; harmonic mixing is one way to significantly increasing the chances that you will get the best mix possible, or so I find. There are some truly beautiful blends you can create if you have a good idea of what you're doing... Using your ears works well in many situations but not all of them... so here's a challenge. Find a song that mixes beautifully with Ticon's Reflections from around 2:56 onwards, and let me know what it is. Maybe you'll get lucky...
  18. As much as I think Yahel is lame, this is one of the most pathetic messages I've ever seen on psynews. Not only is the sentiment you express in poor taste but you go on and on about it. That's fucking weak.
  19. I strongly recommend not using master tempo - especially considering how overproduced psytrance is these days. One can pitch the music up and down a little before the key sounds different to the human ear... I think this is an arbitrary thing. I hold to +/- 2 BPM personally. I think the perception of harmony has something to do with the following write-up, but I find it a little hard to follow: http://www.everything2.net/index.pl?node_id=1348772 If anyone can explain that a little better, I would welcome some revelation on the subject.
  20. Positive? It's rather subtle. I was going to use it to start a mix, but ended up mixing from 6:08 left onward... worked just as well.
  21. Are there any DJs out there employing harmonic mixing in the field? Has anyone looked into it in detail? I'm curious to know if this is catching anywhere, and how people are working with the concept, if they are at all. I'm still waiting to find a harmonically mixed set for download somewhere - I've yet to find one. I think it might be interesting to go back and check to see if any of the commercially released mixes in the days of Goa were harmonically mixed. Anyone know more about that? I'd also like to talk to some experts to vet some articles I'm writing on the subject, if possible.
  22. I just finished a new mix, not too sure if people are going to be into it though. Here's the tracklist: 01 :: Ninja - Showtime [Oxygen] 02 :: Mr. Peculiar - Alien Mushrooms [spirit Zone] 03 :: Lemurians - Phrygian [shiva Space Technology] 04 :: Orion - Rolling Stone [solstice] 05 :: Dark Soho - Away [Alchemy] 06 :: Psysex & Infected Mushroom - Dirty 80s (Wrecked Machines Remix) [Hom-Mega] 07 :: Logic Bomb - Marauder 2 [TIP World] 08 :: Sesto Sento - Primi TB [Compact] 09 :: Menog - Emotions [spectral] 10 :: Infected Mushroom - Facing [Vision Quest] 11 :: Meller - Valhalla [Tribal Vision] 12 :: Wizzy Noise - Majestic Wisdom [spun] 13 :: The Higher Human Form - I Hear Them Call [Z.M.A.] ...it's got a few unpopular artists on here that just seemed to work -shrug- PM me if you want it for now, it's not going into wide distribution just yet.
  23. Just wait for part 2! Track titles include: Kill Bill (again) Killing Bill Softly Just Kill Fucking Bill Already Bill is Dead & so is this Concept!
  24. I think it's important to make the distinction between lyrical vocals, and songs where the voice is used as an instrument (as with Etnoscope). My main problem with lyrical content is that it's usually pretty stupid. Ticon's remix of 7th Son is dope, but even still, those lame ass vocals sorta piss me off... especially that "it gets lawnly" line. Ugh!
