Totally awesome you mean! hahaha... it is more like general forum material though

I think this was one of THE anthems that began the whole full-on craze back in whenever-it-was... 2001? Anyway, Deedrah's own 2005 mix is out. Aside from all the stereotypically psynewsian "it's popular so I hate it" comments, what do people think? I'm trying to sort out how I feel about the rather odd ending... but the rest seems like a pretty sweet update to the original. I haven't been liking most of Deedrah's stuff in the last few years, but this has punch as well as soul. I've only had one listen though, so this may change

Heheh... have you read some of the old reviews? One has to admit, the quality now is so much better than the petty squabbles and uninformed opinions and abuse people used to dish out. Standards have been raised!

This thread is too much to read but for what it's worth I think review threads should contain reviews and not so much chatter... there is a fine balance here - sometimes you get some contraversy that floods out the reviews, at other times people are having short-lived discussions that add some depth to their own reviews. Generally I think the reviews should be far more review-oriented than discussion-oriented. People have and will continue to start topics here in the general forum to have a more conversational topic about a release, and I think that works best. We also have topics about reviews themselves here. Generally I think people should be conscientious and start a thread here if they think they're going to start up something that will mostly be a waste of time to other people. PS Derango is forest music, chumpski.

I'm wondering if anyone else has this prob - this song seems to skip with slightly more than 7 minutes to go. Anyone else notice? Damn Spirit Zone, this is the second good song they seem to have messed up... I never did find a good version of Silicon Sound's Ignition unfortunatly.

Technically it's phenomenal music, forget the classifications. It doesn't matter what dancefloor you throw it down on, Rip it Up is going to make a huge impression. After one listen I can say this is one mighty fine piece of work!!!

Things that ruined Psy Trance for you

The world needs more like you -
HAhaha... that really is excessive.
-
It means you buy the album but only really need the one or two exceptional or representative tunes... what's the point of listening to the rest then? Disposable music! Next week on psybitch: DJs with one sound... what the hell ever happened to development in a set? Playing for three hours straight and never once varying the energy level or style should earn you a dropkick to the nuts.

There seems to be no shortage of these... albums with one sound, hammered endlessly until the last beat drops. Some try to distract you by throwing a chill-out tune last, but this isn't convincing anyone. Same goes for the "innovators" who put the one chill tune in the middle, or right at the start. No one is fooled. I just don't understand the appeal of an album that only had one mood, one drive, one style. It's boring! And how am I supposed to review this stuff? I keep falling asleep... haha. Rant over

What music are you listening to right now?

Front Line Assembly - Epitaph Bought it on a whim from a used shop last night... seems like I still like these guys -
Good news, Ace.

Yeah this looks like crap but some of you are a little fatalistic here...
-
Very boring... sounds like you're entire discography *yawn* Just kidding no tears here.

What? Don't start beating on Jaia...

I agree to an extent... some of it is getting quite boring... like there's some holy quest to make THE cleanest most sterile stuff around. On one level (the chin-stroking one I suppose) I appreciate it... but then I take a step back and say - is there any life in this music? Would people unacquainted with psytrance find it utterly uninteresting? Yeah, some of the time... I don't understand what the time and place is for some of these sounds - when it's time to clear the dancefloor and go home? But that's a regional bias... I'm sure people groove on to this stuff somewhere. Anyway I'm still a big prog lover and there is great stuff out there... I'm commenting on a non-specified list of yawn-inducing material that is always lurking around. How the hell can you review this stuff anyway? I'm sick of writing "well it's nicely produced, and highly polished, and there is quite a flow, but I still feel asleep"...

I'm glad there are other FLA fans here

THOUGHTS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THIS DOMAIN whoops thought I was somewhere else for an instant... schlab must have schlabbled my breaain!
-
Sure, but it's not.

Heliopolis is a great name for an album... City of the Sun all right!
-
I don't really consider Yotopia, Etic, and Lish to be prog in the conventional sense... they go well together. It's more like Israeli morning music though, fat plastic kicks and production techniques more suitable for a psytrance set than prog. True Israeli prog comes from Perfect Stranger, Igal M, and that sort of deal. I.M.H.O.

The mastering is significantly better, is it not? I was happy with the two avatar re-releases I picked up - they both sounded noticeably better than the originals.

Evil killrgh monkeys with doing the Kali shiva ritual dancing knives on corpes of the undead walker during night of the thousand mega weird matrix sounds flying on the jet plane from another reality ruined psytrance. -
No, the remix sucks. As an original or as a remix, it's simply dull as dirt.
