BTW IMO (and most agree) a very good homelistening headphone should be open design, not closed, which would exclude from the beginning the HD-280s and MDR v600s... Closed designs are mainly used for DJing or isolating yourself from external sounds (and others from your music And also, I don't mean to diss you, but most people agree that the MDR V600s are actually one of the WORST phones you can get for the price!! of course all artists have *slightly* different styles... even back in the oldschool days, you could clearly tell apart a track from Astral Projection and Prana and California Sunshine for example, although they are all unanimously recognized as being practically the inventors of the goatrance sound!! that said, for artists who a truly unique and don't sound like *anything* else (although it's still psytrance in theory...) I'd say: Sandman Texas Fagott Joujouka Haltya Hux Flux (first album) Orichalcum And The Deviant Psyko Disko Quirk Ubar Tmar Yammabikaya ... and the wierdest of them all: Shaolin Wooden Men!!! Ollie Olsen!!!! SMI²LE

well, from the knowledge I've gathered over the years if you don't mind sacrificicing a few bucks to get a good sound your choice should be among this list: Sennheiser HD-600 (with modded cable... the cable costs as much as the headphones themselves!!) Sony CD-3000 Stax Lambda Pro (these are pricier but are actually cheap for electrostatic phones) Etymotic ER-4P... these are the wierdest of the lot as you are actually supposed to plug them deep into your ear canal... but it seems that in terms of response and lack of distortion it's the best you can get without actually sticking an audio signal to your eardrums AKG K-1000s don't forget that for any of these phones (expect the Staxx) to sound good you'll also need a good headphone amp which is usually even more expensive than the phones themselves!! Otherwise listening to these phones would be like having a Ferrari body with a Ford Focus engine in it... and of course if your dad is named Donald Trump and just died leaving you a fortune, you can't go wrong with Sennheiser Orpheus (price tag... 15.000 USD!!!!) "where is D-tek!! " here: "44. D-Tek – Earth Technologies (Maia)" I agree it should be more at the end than at the beginning Thumbs up PK!!! Now if only you could put the albums in alphabetical order on your site... or at least have a search option... I've put some reviews there too but I'm not really motivated in reviewing stuff that's not on the front page anymore cause i doubt a lot of people will read them... SMI²LE

what you mean this: "Phew for a minute there, I lost myself.. I lost myself" actually "phew for a minute there" is a pretty common english expression, lotsa people use it SMI²LE

"if someone could tell me on what label Uni is signed to cuz ive been looking for that bit of info for quite some time but i havent had much luck.." A good place to start looking is usually the back of your CD SMI²LE

"local dj`s can be just as good as a known one ...." I never said the contrary, but I can't help feeling a little scamed when I go see a party with a top name written in big letters and an entry price to mach only to see that he played for like 1 hour or 2 and that after that I get the exact same DJs I'd get by going to a "normal" party where the entry is like 1/4 of the price... Of course with festivals it's a bit different cause you get more than one name... still sometimes you'd have like 3-4 known names (each playing for no more than 2 hours) in a 3-day festival!! But yeah, really big festivals like VooV aren't like that, I know SMI²LE
-
well basically a big festival goes like this: you get a handfull of top acts of the moment which you pay a (relatively) large sum of money but on the other hand insure you have a lot of people coming to see them (= more tickets sold). On the other hand, since the crowd is already there and you have to entertain them for the longest time possible (= more drinks sold) and since it would cost a fortune to have only high-paid top acts (= less profit), you get local and pretty unknown DJs who will play for free just to "be seen" by a large audience. Of course the best deal is when you get only one top act who will play for 1 hour live and then as a DJ for another hour and then fill the rest of the remaining time with local DJs, but you still charge a lot of money cause you kow everybody will want to see the top act live. Phew... for a minute there I thought you were saying Oasis... SMI²LE

Well that Dread Rock got old pretty fast IMO, it's basically a loop played over and over for like 5 minutes... the man could've added a bit of variation to it... Other than that, let's not forget that Oakenfold did play a huge role in promoting TRANCE in the very early 90s, yes at that time there was no difference between psy and "non-psy" trance, it was just trance. So I guess that once the genre started to split, he decided to go the commercial way but still, I must say that I sometimes hear trance sets by famous DJs on the radio and there are some tracks in there that seem like 100 times LESS commercial than full-on!!! And I do know of a lot of trance DJs who play stuff like Space Tribe in their sets (usually near the end). Keep in mind that it's still trance, anyway you look at it!! On the other hand, I'm much more angry at acts like AP and Yahel who decide to copy the eurotrance style to sell more records... SMI²LE

well I'm not saying that Shpongle is amateuristic, I'm saying that at times I find it amateuritic!! But I think Disagree got it right on the "why" it feels amateuristic. Actually I had the same feeling when listening to Hallucinogen - In Dub a few months after my initial worshiping... SMI²LE
-
depends on the mood you're in actually... sometimes I find it's great, like music that speaks directly to my brain, other times I find it's just a bunch of copy-paste loops of world music with some random "wierdness" added to it... Actually I re-listened to Are You Shpongled? a while ago and found it to be very amateuristic, although I just loved it when I listened to it a few years ago. SMI²LE

"it amazes me how little artists use irregular kickdrum patterns." I don't think they find it technically hard, I think it has more to do with the fact that like 99% of the psytrance made is dance-floor oriented!!! Ever tried dancing to a breakbeat? SMI²LE

so know one knows of any recent morning tracks??? come on people!! SMI²LE
