Not sure if this is actually a movie or a 2 hour-long music video on angry Femen going to Burning Man? Ok, visually it's stunning but it's like 100% special effects, 0% story, I remember when Michael Bay did this with the Transformes a few years ago the critics were furious, now everyone is calling Fury Road a masterpiece, WTF? And calling the main carchter Imperator Furiosa, come on, a 5 year-old could come up with a better name... Is it just me or is the general audience getting dumber by the years?

I remember reading an article a while ago that pretty much nailed the problem: basically becoming a hippie (or more generally speaking choosing a more spiritual way of life) esentially means killing your Ego, except that the Ego has a way of not letting go and coming back to haunt you. So if, say, you choose to convert to Buddhism and meditate 4 hours a day... but then spend your time bragging about it and telling everyone around you that they should do the same then you haven't really achieved anything at all cause it means that at the end of the day your Ego is still in control, maybe even moreso than before you chose the spiritual path.

Agree 100%... Although one must also keep in mind that when we (or at least people of my generation) first listened to this music we were impressionable teens, obviously it's much more difficult to be impressed by a new release when you've already listened to about 5.000 other releases in the same style then when you discovered a new release and didn't really have anything else (or very little) to compare it to. But yeah, my main problem is that artists these days seem too concentrated on following a certain formula whereas back in the days it seemed to be all about taking the scene to the next level. Which is even more wierd these days when mainstream artists don't seem afraid to take new directions like blending hardcore and rap (Yellow Claw) or dance music and bluegrass country (Avicii). Compare that to "but if you really pay attention you'll see that the arpeggio in Filteria's new track has a few notes different from his previous release, wooow, this really sounds different!!" and it feels impossible not to burst out laughing... I'd really like to see some more creative initatives in our scene someday

that's my point, if there were 3 different remixes with 3 completely different moods like how Etnica did dub versions of their tracks a while ago, or, say a dark trance version, or why not even something really crazy like a TRAP remix then yeah I wouldn't mind having 10 different versions of one track, the problem here is that it is just more and more generic newschool with too little to set the different tracks a part. PS I kindof like that remix you posted

Season 1 is already over. The plot-twist in episode 9... OMG definately got me glues to my seat! Ep 10 however was a bit too slow. Anyway, till now this is the best series of 2015 IMO. Waiting for the new season

Hmm ok, indeed I gave it a few more listens since my review since it felt a bit wrong to diss such a legend so quickly. I have also gone back through the original Prana material to have a better point of comparison (I admit it has been a while since I haven't given the originals a spin). Well, no, I stand by my initial decision, the remixes are IMO but a pale comparison to the orignals, plus the originals themselves aren't really Prana's best efforts to begin with. I've read the "but these are the only 2 original MIDI files they still had" argument and was pretty annoyed by it. I mean, basically the artists admit that they don't have a necessary skills to do a proper remix??? WTF? This isn't a bunch of kids playing in their basements with FL Studio, these are established newschool artists we're talking about, to be honest I find the thought a bit scary. umm well sorry to disrupt the positive vibe here but personally I find this SUCKS!! First of all, the concept of having THREE remixes of the same tracks... twice. Maaan, I know newschool producers are lacking creativity but this one really takes the cake! Now ok, if there was like an uptempo mix, a chill-out mix and say something more creative like a breakbeat mix then ok why not, but having 3 almost-identical remixes that can't even hold a candle to the original... what's the freakin' point? What's next? Releasing a double-CD with 20 remixes of the same track that sound almost identical? Come oooon... I won't go on to say which tracks I prefer because I don't really enjoy any of them. Whereas I at least found some moments of enjoyment from the Goa Classics remixes by Astral, this time around I actually had to FORCE myself to listen to the whole album. It's just more of the same "hey, let's all throw some random oriental-scale arpeggios on top of a fast kick and call it newschool" syndrome that seems to have infected the scene for years now. IMO, original goatrance was a about a lot more than just that. Well, ok, I liked the remix of Mugen but that one was on Astral's album so it isn't really new. 1/10 from me...

so 1st season already over Episode 9 was the best of the series IMO, I definately didn't see the plot twist coming... Episode 10 kindof dragged a bit but 'S all Good Can't wait for the second season to start

hi there, Have been taking stabs at music production every now and then for years now... the problem is that I always get to a point where I get the feeling that I've gone past the really basic stuff (what each feature does, how to make a basic kick and melody and so on), and after that there are loads of tutorials which basically just show you "tricks" like making a bassline feel heavier, etc. And then you have tons of "tutorials" that don't really teach you anything, amateur producers just put them on to show their skills but it becomes pretty obvious that they don't really care to actually show you how they do it. And that's about the point where I stop short because I feel frustrated that I can't find anything more "intermediate-advanced" level like class 102 or 103 or something. Am I missing something here? Any recomendations? thanks

you did?? but it explains how the actors around Walter White became who they were, and aparently the later series will deal with the caracters AFTER Breaking Bad ended, it's basically a prequel and a sequel to BB I don't see how one could not like it (well, except episode 6, I found it was a bit too slow)

Most of the time spin-offs are just a pale reminder of what the original series used to be, so at first I wasn't expecting much of Better Call Saul, however it did deliver in the end. I'm totally hooked now, eagerly waiting for every new episode and can't believe that we're already almost at the end of season 1 So what do you guys think of it?

Just stumbled on this one a week ago, and it has been on "repeat" ever since This is how Shpongle would have sounded if they kept to their old sound IMO. I know many people complain about the voices, personally I LOVE them (BTW anyone know what language they are singing in?). Faves: 3,4 (!!), 5(!!!), 6(!!), 8(!!) definaltely the most impressive album that has came out of the psy scene in 2014 (that I have listened to so far). 4,5/5

hmm yeah don't take it personnal, it was more of a general post aimed to all those complaining about "harsh mastering" that I've seen lately ("lately" meaning more like over the last year since I don't come here often anymore ). I personally suffer of such hearing loss which is the reason why I almost never blast music at full-volume the way I once did and cannot even consider going to a party without some hearing protection (that is, means of turning the music DOWN rather than up...) you won't be hearing that from me, IMO Ka-Sol, Khetzal and to a lesser extent Merr0w were the last artists to bring newschool to new levels, everything else was simply using the same formulas over and over and over again...

i've seen veterans in the scene complaining over and over again about production that's "too harsh", was thinking about raising the question a while ago but don't come here too often anymore

it's a common misconception that partial hear loss simply means that you can't hear some frequencies... quite on the contrary, it means that your brain is trying to compensate the partial hear loss by over-amplifying the frequencies that close to those you can't hear. So instead of turning the volume up because you can't hear something, one has on the contrary the tendency to turn the volume DOWN because they percieve certain frequencies as being too harsh, which is precisely what you guys are complaining about... But don't take my word for it, feel free to research the problem on the web. PS Given the amount of time we all have spent listening to LOUD music during our childhood, I think it's pretty safe to say that we ALL suffer from some form of partial hear loss...

Just gotta love all those posts on mastering... did it ever occur to any of you that your own hearing might be damaged from all the years of blasting psytrance at full volume? Over-sensitivity to certain frequencies is a tell-tale sign of partial hearing loss you know... Anyway, back to the album itself... umm am I the only one finding too many similarities with Filteria aka "let's throw lots of random arpeggios on top of a really fast kick and make a track out of it"?

heyyy this one surprised me a lot more than the Astral Projection remixes album. Some VERY interesting tracks here, ranging from "plain vanilla" dub like Vimana (what the hell does it have in common with the original except the sample I don't know...) to uptempo chill-out with just some hints of dub like Desert Journey, it definately has all the variation to get you through many listens without getting bored. Not all tracks are remixes BTW, at least as far as I know some of the material here is original. THE absolute standout here is Burning Sands, some oriental tunes on top of a midtempo DnB line, it works wonders, I couldn't help myself from repeatedly pressing the "repeat" button Big thumbs up for the Screaming Butterfly remix as well, it takes a lot of craftmanship to take those very agressive sounds from the original and make them sound soothing in a downtempo track Deep East and Trip Tonite are a bit of a scam though IMO, since the originals were downtempo to begin with, they basically just put them on top of a dub bassline, nice but nothing to get really crazy about. Back to Vega is a bit too generic IMO, it sounds like music from a car commercial or something, I usually skip this one. Gilly's Voyage in Dub brings us to a darker side, it takes the overall progression of the original but with a lot of dub influences, a really nice mix IMO. Overall, I'm impressed! Not an absolute classic (but then again, are there any absolute classics being made anymore?), but definately one of the best albums I've heard all year! 4/5 (faves: 5(!!!), 6, 8(!!)) PS Comparing it to Ott's Hallucinogen In Dub doesn't really do it justice IMO, it is a very different concept... not all tracks here are dub, some are more uptempo and some aren't even remixes...

hmm yeah quite a lot of talk about ZNA, seems like a great concept for sure but my experience tells me that festivals that get organized for the very first time usually get a LOT of organizational problems like they tell you in the middle of the party that they only had a 3-day permit instead of 5 etc... woulnd't really feel comfortable going all that way without being sure that the party lasts as much as it was advertised. Plus they don't say how many stages there will be, if there will be music 24/7 and so on?
