  1. joke of the day A sadist, a zoophile, a killer, a necrophiliac and a masochist are having a conversation inside a psychiatric clinic. The sadist says: - Let's find a cat and torture it! The zoophile: - Yes! Let's find a cat and torture it and then fuck it in the ass! The killer: - Yes! Let's find a cat and torture it, fuck it in the ass and then kill it! The necrophiliac: - Yes! Let's find a cat and torture it, fuck it in the ass, kill it and then fuck it again! Now everyone is looking at the masochist, who after considering all this for a while replies: - MEEEOW!!

  9. hey I didn't know that floppy drives could do that lol anyway, joke of the day: Two old ladies go to a second-hand car dealership and buy a very old banged-up car. They get in the car, sit in it and wait. About 20 minutes later the car dealer sees that the ladies are still sitting in the car waiting. He goes to them and asks: - Excuse me ladies but is the something wrong? Are you not happy with your choice? Because I could show you some other models if you wish. - No sir, we are very happy with it. Everyone says that when you buy a second-hand car you will always end up being screwed so we are waiting...

  11. Yet another year, yet another Shambala mix from Excision (hoping it won't follow the continuous downward slope in quality...) Shambala 2011 [EDIT] YAY he finally got back to his trademark filthy dark beats and stayed off that crappy hybrid dance/ rap stuff that seems to be invading the scene lately. Not as good as his first Shambala mix but definately one of his best IMO [/EDIT]
  12. just heard this on the radio lately and it is currently my most played song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UVNT4wvIGY so what is your pick? come on, don't be shy

  14. BWAHAHAHAHA!!! Didn't we all experience a similar situation at work someday
  15. hmm well as a general rule psytrance ages very badly, there are TONS of albums I cherished in the past but don't think much of today: Etnica, Pleiadians, MWNN and even the high and mighty Astral Projection... well I guess that an album will become old after you've listened to it a million times no matter how good lol. Still, if I'd have to pick one substyle that I totally dissed when it first came out only to regret it became extinct today it would be techtrance...
  16. So apparently this is the newest most addictive game to hit us, especially since it's very tablet-pc friendly... Anyone around here tried it? It's basically Worms but with birds instead of the worms lol Although I admit it's quite addictive if you want to give it a try to see what all the fuss is about
  17. AHA!! You hit the nail right on its head sir! Although I wouldn't say it sounds EXACTLY the same, 3D Vision stuff (especially Absolum and old CPU which resembles twilight the most IMO) was a lot more techno influenced IMO, not that many melodies, more like driving layers of sound. But that said, there is are clear similarities http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6Cf-slrwlM&feature=related
  18. (continuing my previous post) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ft_N-skpXRs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F10re2ggUHw as you can see the Carl Cox version is a million times better but impossible to find, he just keeps it for playing it in venues...
  19. hmm... mixed feeling about this because I find that techno is still one of the styles where the DJ himself plays a crucial role. Most of the time the DJ will use the tracks as "tools", he'd blend in 2 different tracks, or make the climax longer or edit out the boring part... I'd listen to an absolute stormer in a set and then when I finally got my hands on the actual track I'd be very dissapointed cause it sounds so dull compared to the DJ's version played like for example this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMv88O8q0Tg which is actually a mash-up of these tracks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k912aW8MP0s

First off a remix of Possiblities... umm the first few minutes are interesting but then you start wondering where the hell is all this going until you finally get bored and press the next button. Bluetech's remix of Trust ah now that's more like it, a good dark IDM atmosphere and some dubsteppish basslines form the canvas for some little running arpegios that sound like ghosts whispering in your ears. Then the second half brings in a more fluffy melody that kindof ruins the dark mood. Too bad cause the first half was REALLY good Hell up next which starts dark but then this goofy bassline really ruins the vibe, what the hell was he thinking?? Memory remix up next which sounds like a crossblend between 80s electro and synthpop music... there are some interesting ideas in there but the overall result is pretty hectic. Robots up next with a bit of a tribal sound but overall very cheezy Reality starts soothing but then puts some very in-your-face synth lines and even becomes dark in parts, then cheezy again. Then comes the track that everyone was waiting for I guess, the Phutureprimitive remix and mash-up of Transformation and Bu_ist. Actually the beginning is a bit dissapointing, sure there are some nice wind pads and guitar melodies but nothing really original but then around 3:00 comes an EXTRAORDINARY melody, too bad it only lasts for a minute (but then it comes back again around 5:15). It is just amazing, I ended up pressing the rewind button like a drug addict in need of a new fix lol Remix of Ok up next, which sounds very empty, especially compared to the previous track Mind ah now that's more like it... a nice dark IDM vibe, with an original hevily distorted voice melody and some synths. Definately one of the best here. Dreams up next with the typical goofy jazzy vibe which I don't really like... But if you wait till 3:00 a nice guitar melody kicks in which makes the track much better Magic Sound Fabric gives us a remix of Space which is ok but a bit cheezy in parts... Another remix of Bu_ist, this time by Zero One himself, but I'd much rather go for the Phutureprimitive mix... The closer is a remix of Flight, with a lot of 80's synthpop cheezyness, bleh Conclusion: Very mediochre album (if not outright BAD!), nothing that really stands out except for the Bluetech and Phuturemrimitive remixes... BUT the Phutureprimitive remix is HUGE!! Guess it's better to wait for it to come on some comps... Faves: 2, 7(!!) 2/5

Thomas Barquee - Om Namah Shivaya (SonicTurtle Remix by Adham Shaikh) 10:28 10. Sat Kartar - Laya Yoga Chant (Makyo's Tantric Dub) 11:04 11. Snatam Kaur - Ong Namo (DJ Nartak & Five Seasons Rmx) 4:59 First of all, don't let the cheezy cover and title fool you, this is far from beeing new age... I stumbled on this by pure chance as it is not really targeted to psychill fans (even though a keen eye will recognize some heavy duty psychill artists on the tracklist), more to new age/ lounge music fans. I guess that with today's economy anything will be a good excuse to sell some records. But once the commercial considerations are set aside this is really one very surprising comp! The main concept here is to take aeons-old mantra chants and make a modern version of them. This might sound extremely pretentious but the end result is interesting to say the least. First of all, even though I guess anyone with a slight interest in yoga will recognize some of these mantras, they are not sung the same way as we're used to hearing them, the melody arangements are extremely original and the electronic background is made to put the emphasis on the vocals. Again, I know this will sound odd but it works. Now for the tracks themselves: Mul Mantra up first with a beautiful female voice and some very soothing pads, this would be the track that sounds most like lounge music here and a nice intro track, although it only sets the pace for thing to come. Desert Dwellers' version of Dukh Par Har up next with their typical tribal oriental beats and an eerie make voice singing the mantra, this track is much more dynamic than the first although the best is still to come. Gobinday now we're into outright 4/4 heavy kick dance music, actually a bit of electro-house influences as well as dubstep (hey wait, don't run off just yet! lol). But then a BEAUTIFUL female voice comes on top singing the mantra with a very original melody, I found myself pressing the repeat button a LOT with this one. In the Light of My Soul comes in next with a more syncopated funky vibe and again an extremely beautiful voice melody singing the mantra. I though Gobinday was the best but after listening to this one, it sounds even better. So again, I have used the repeat button a lot... Aja Uttama now we're outight in DISCO territory! Man, talk about surprises lol This is also the most commercial sounding track here and comes as a letdown after the previous 2 tracks, I tend to skip this one. Naam also in 4/4 kick territory here with some sort of tribal trance, although not the one I apreciate most. Wahe Guru again some very commercial tribal dance here, not quite my cup of tea... Jai Tegang back into trance territory here, vocal trance to be exact, not psy. In parts it sounds good, yet in others too much like a travesty, ah well... NEXT! Om Namah Shivaya aaah, back into chill mode here with the mantra I guess most people know but again, with a very different musical arangement to how we are used to hearing it. A beautiful male voice sconded by some djembés and soft synth melodies, and then a beautiful flute melody up next, I found this one extremely catchy and sad in some ways. Defintaley one of the best tracks here! Then comes Laya Yoga Chant's interpretation by none other than Makyo! Hey it's been a while... As you can imagine, this is the track that sounds most like psychill here, a pretty different vibe to the other tracks. The beginning is actually a bit dissapointing but it slowly starts making sense after a while (after all, it's more than 11 minutes long so give it some time lol). Ong Namo is the closer with a more new age vibe, but of the GOOD sort. Sure it's cheezy but at the same time the mantra is extremely catchy. I've found myself whistling the melody hours later. Conclusion: I can understand why most people here would shudder just by seeing the cover but believe me, it really helps to put your preconceptions aside and listen to this with an open mind. I actually find it is one of the most original albums EVER (in any style) and the vocal parts are extremely catchy (well, they're mantras after all, they're supposed to be catchy lol). Of course, it's not all perfect, I guess that is always the price to pay for originality, not all songs end up sounding good. Still, this is definately the best chill-out I've come across all year. Faves: 2, 3(!!), 4(!!), 9(!!), 10 (!), 11(!!) 4,5/ 5
  22. Replying to ormion's comment on the Liquid Legacy review, I rekon it's better to discuss it here than in the reviews section... Now, I admit that I'm kindof left behind concerning the latest developments in the psy scene but I kindof got the idea that twilight was some sort of crossblend between full-on and progressive?
