another killer night full-on comp... lately I find that this is the best substyle of psytrance, I can't get enough of it Ok, I suppose that there will be a point in time where there will be so many releases in the style that I will eventually get sick of it but for now I'm really liking it! faves: 1(!!), 3(!!), 4, 7, 9(!!) 4/5

Now, I'm not talking remixes here, I'm talking stuff that is blatantly ripped off from an older tune. There I was, always thinking that this is the best track by Zorba: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipxqiRDOpzw Untill I stumbled on this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsakCh3Tt5U any more examples?

A1 Yerba Del Diablo (Yaqui) 4:40 A2 Yerba Del Diablo (Shagras) 4:52 B1 Yerba Del Diablo (Brujo) 4:34 B2 Yerba Del Diablo (Achico) 4:51 Strolling through my oldschool collection and realized I haven't posted a review of this EXCELLENT release. The Shagras mix is what you'll want, it is 100% insrumental early trance and is a dream, the pads sound very much like SFX - We Are Controlling Transmission and that main melody is so lovely that you will want to press the repeat button for countless times It is hard to believe that this track is 20 years old, it still sounds fresh today IMO. Sadly the other mixes have a lot of acid house influences, sound very outdated today and don't hold a candle to the Shagras mix. But if you're missing the Shagras mix, you're missing a big part of trance history!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGk5ioEXlIM In case you were wondering where we are headed economically right now, this short film will enlighten you Sometimes it's a bit too overdramatic but the hard facts are explained pretty accurately IMO What do you people think?

Well, like many people in the scene, I had a lot of negative preconceptions whenever I heard the name Astrix... I didn't even want to try to listen to this album and then some months later I stumbled on the Lepton Head remix on yourtube and had to humbily admit that it wasn't bad at all, even rather good. So I got the whole album and it's is pretty darn good! We're still in cheezy territory, but a good kind of cheese IMO, everything sounds uplifting but not TOO uplifting, and I really like the occasional winks at some oldschool classics like putting an "Out here we is stoned" sample in the track Mir. 3,5 /5 from me

1. AZAX VS BLISS - Fight No More 2. BLISS - Stolen Mind 3. AZAX SYNDROM - The Truth 4. AZAX VS BLISS - Tam Tam 5. BLISS - Abed 51 6. TALAMASCA VS. SKAZI - Imaginary Friends (Azax rmx) 7. AZAX VS BLISS - The Bomb 8. AZAX SYNDROM - Another Visitor 9. BLISS - Warriors The promo text on this one says "These two world known producers are considered by many to be the best thing that happened to electronic music since the invention of the computer." BWAHAHAHAHA!!! Now I've already come across many pretentious claims in promo texts but this one definately gets my award for most pretentious ever lol Anyway, let's get back down to Earth here and see how this sounds like. Fight No More in case you were wondering, no, this isn't a remix of the classic from Peyote, and after all, the promo text implies that these guys are far better than Rolf Ellmer and Dag Lerner so why bother anyway? lol But seriously though, it's a pretty nice brutal entry track that sets the tone for the rest of the album: twisted and energetic night full-on, and interestingly enough these guys try to blend in some dubstep wobbly basslines in there which is pretty innove IMO. It definately makes me want to listen to what's up next Stolen Mind Bliss alone this time around, the beginning is a bit dull, then some more dubstep influences making you wonder just where is a this coming to until finally the main melody kicks in around 5:30. Definately the most innovative track here The Truth Azax up next with some interesting dark melodies, then some more agressive arpeggios kick in together with the used and abused sample "You can't handle the truth!" from the movie A Few Good Men, and then a part of the melody from the main theme of Mission Impossible... (guy definately has a fetish for Tom Cruise lol), then we're back to some more agressive melodies but the overall result is a bit average IMO Tam Tam up next with an annoying sample and some more agressive melodies, I must say that both don't quite mix, the track ranges from goofiness to more serious stuff, not quite my cup of tea. Abed 51 starts with some pretty soothing arpeggios for the 1st minute but then we're back into twilight territory with an agressive bassline melody and guitar samples, then the climax around 5:00 brings in an oriental melody and some more brutal acid sounds up next, GREAT track Imaginary Friends takes a while to start but then the main melody from the original (which I didn't like BTW) kicks in, then some more random bits until the track finally unleashes all its power around 6:50... and then another crappy melody kicks in around 7:20 ARGGHHHH!!! This one had the potential to be a real stormer but they just didn't keep their act together long enough The Bomb starts up pretty random, then a breakdown where you wonder what's gonna happen, then a sample "LSD is the bomb" which I'm sure will make many people smile Again, some interesting moments but overall result is pretty average. Another Visitor gives us some 8bit oldschool gaming melodies that really fit perfectly with the front cover Then some more familiar melodies come in, nice but not great. Bliss closes the album with Warriors with what seems in the beginning to be a calmer track, but it picks up to the same levels as the other ones here, I was tempted to press the stop button but kept on listening to it and I'm glad I did cause the last melody kicking in around 7:30 is really great! Conclusion: Pretty good agressive night full-on album which brings the added bonus of putting some dubstep elements in there. However, the innovation stops there and all the tracks here follow the same formula, have similar melodies and almost the same synth presets too. So, listening to one or 2 tracks is great, but when ALL the album sounds the same it is less great... faves: 1, 2(!!), 5(!), 9 3,5 /5

1. Kiriyama - Evening Star 2. Nirmanakayas - Crystal Eye 3. Ka Sol - Less Sand 4. Schoiroideairis - Schizofreniadikt 5. Battle Of The Future Buddhas - Dante 6. Rimmlull - Pink Frilly 7. Makadam - Gyroscope 8. Trashlords - Ashvem 9. Bloomen - Tales From The Bugle Yet another forest trance comp is out, this time combining "new" forest trance artists with veteran names like Ka-Sol and the Buddhas. Sounds promising on paper but how does it really sound? Kiriyama - Evening Star The opening track is BRILLIANT! Nice midtempo beats with some oldschoolish melodies and an overall dark uneasy feeling, actually after I went through all the tracks I realized that this was the best one here! Nirmanakayas - Crystal Eye the BPMs pick up and we are in forest trance realms here. Very fast bassline driving some very twisted melodies, the only thing I have against it is that although it's by a new artist, it sounds like it could've been released on a Schlabbaduerst comp ages ago. Still, a nice effort Ka Sol - Less Sand new effort from one of the pioneers of this sound... Very dark and twisted atmospheres but with a nice small 303line that integrates nicely, and like most Ka-Sol's tracks, you have to be in a certain mood to really apreciate it. Schoiroideairis - Schizofreniadikt (happy I can just copy-paste without having to rewrite the name BTW lol), hmm well, again, nice effort but it has a very "it has been done before" feeling to it... Battle Of The Future Buddhas - Dante up next, after a bit of a deception with their last album I was cautious about this one, but I have to admit after a few listens it started working on me, there is the normal Buddhas sound but the leading arpeggio has a bit of an oldschool rave feeling that complements it nicely. It's a bit monotnous but all the progress is made in the details around the main melody, it really pays to pay close attention to the details here Rimmlull - Pink Frilly if this sounds a bit like Ka-Sol then it's normal since it's a project involving Christer It starts promissing but then it kindof drowns out in the end, making me want to press that "next" button... Makadam - Gyroscope up next with a more "goofy" approach to forest trance, in places it's a bit funny but in others it reminds you that we are still in dark realms. Some sounds seem to be filtered frog croaks, I'm sure this would freak out people on the dancefloors lol Trashlords - Ashvem another oldie from the Orebro crew up next, but a bit decieving material here, it is just too "straightforward", nothing really interesting happens for the first 5 and a half minutes, then a nice melody kicks in but it gives me the impression of too little, too late... Bloomen - Tales From The Bugle now this is much more like it, a bit of light at the end of the tunnel with some morning melodies but still, nothing particularly exceptionnal. Conclusion: Sclabbaduerst 008? It sure sounds like it... Some interesting forest trance in here but nothing that really stands out except for the intro track IMO. Don't get me wrong, I'm certain that these tracks will do wonders on the dancefloors, especially while under certain influences, but not really my cup of tea for home listening... 3/5

strolling through some old releases I have and just realized how incredibly well the last track, After Ever standed the test of time. Moreso, it is almost impossible to find it anywhere else, even on youtube! It is basically Astral Warrior in a downtempo version, now I know it might sound an odd idea but it makes MIRACLES, especially when coming down from a trip, all those slowed-down sounds are real magic IMO. Won't comment on Astral Warrior cause I suppose everyone knows it already (otherwise you're missing a huge piece of goa history) and Awakening is a very average track, I suppose it's one of Chi's very first tracks cause it has this oldschool London acid housy-trance feeling to it IMO (808 State, LFO and such...). But After Ever is the real gem here, and given the rarity of it, buying this EP is worth every penny

Ratko Vojtek – Bombay 5:33 14 Green Beats – The Elements 6:42 15 Dubsalon – Lifted 5:13 Just realized that my collection was seriously lacking some psydub, and apparently this comp is as good as it gets in this domain so I've decided to give it a try Fireman up first which is a pretty generic sounding dub opener... there are some djembés in there, but overall nothing particularly impressive... Space Warrior is extremely classical dub, it sounds good but at the same time it sounds like it could've been made 30 years ago, still, if you like your dub, you'll like this One Drop by Akasha which is NOT related to Akasha Project as I thought, it is just a name coincidence Anyway, this one brings some innovation in the dub world with some dubstep basslines and a "happy" melody. Capisconne – Meditations In The Bells up next, with some pretty original stuff, nothing really dub-sounding in this one, rather a darkish 4/4 midtempo track. Green Beats – Tokyo Romance these guys seem to be pretty active lately, releasing tracks every here and there. This particular one isn't that good IMO, just some breakbeat ambient with some distorted japanese-talking in the background... but they have put better stuff here Akasha – From The Other Side YES!! This is definately more like it: dub with obvious "bendy" psy-influenced sounds, organic melodies and oriental vibes, one of my faves here! Dubsalon – Don't Stop up next with a more "traditional" approach to dub, nice but nothing really original here. E.R.S. – Kunga Karunga this one's a very nice feel-good track, with a bit of an 80s feeling to it, pretty nice IMO Green Beats – Tres De Nou this one is the one that impressed me most here. Starts out with some breakbeats, and a melody that reminded me a bit the classic 4 Voices - Eternal Spirit, then continues around half-way with a 4/4 kick and a very nice arpegiatted melody that put a big smile on my face. I'd like to hear a remix of the track with just the 4/4 part Capisconne – Sea Nothing with some very odd sounding melodies... it's original, I'll give you that but nothing particularly enjoyable IMO Akasha – Solar Salutation has a more modern dubstep bassline and some interesting melodies, although it's not really good. E.R.S. – The Laws Of Planet Fix serve us again some very typical dub, the production is a bit "crispier" than usual, but overall nothing really impressive. Capisconne - Bombay again, these guys are off the scale originality-wise, this time around it sounds like some IDM blended with some dark jazz, although too odd on first listens I found that the more I listened to it, the more I enjoyed it, in a peculiar way lol Green Beats – The Elements takes us further into dark territories with some distorted guitars, twisted pads and fast percusion sounds, I'd definately not like to listen to this while tripping lol Dubsalon – Lifted brings us back into soothing territory after the uneasy last 2 tracks, some nice arpeggios in there but not really great as a whole. Conclusion: This one definately explores dub in all its variety, from classic stuff that sounds exactly like it did 30 years ago to psydub and even more experimental stuff that doesn't sound like dub at all lol. There are some real gems in there. Faves: 2, 6(!!), 9(!!!), 13, 14 3,5/5

1. Emotions 2. Biokinetix - Sextime (SOM rmx) 3. Imagination 4. Andrey Samoilov - Freedome (SOM rmx) 5. Kirsty Hawkshaw - Fine Day (SOM rmx) 6. Sun Set 7. Morning Trip 8. Sensorica - Masta of sound (SOM rmx) 9. Shiva rmx 10.Moon song Well, call me stupid but I'm always a sucker to anything that contains specific referals to morning trance In this particular case it is morning full-on and allthough this album starts as generic as just about any other full-on album out there, there are a few surprises here Emotions up first... which sounds exactly like a million other full-on releases out there... NEXT! Sextime starts off with some echoes of a girl having an orgasm... mmmm But that's about as interesting as it gets, then it's all generic full-on till the end Imagination has a pretty nice tune near the end, a nice listen but again, nothing particularly attention-grabbing. Freedome starts, yet again, as some boring full-on BUT around 4:30 a very catchy melody comes in that bought me a smile on my face Fine Day hmmm... you need a decent amount of courage to dare remix such a classic... and also a decent amount of creativity to make the remix worthwile. Well, let's just say that SOM had the courage, but not the creativity lol OK, this could work well on dancefloors but when all is said and done, it doesn't hold a candle to the original. Sun Set is the most commercial track here, some VERY annoying melodies in there that just make me want to press that forward button. Morning Trip up next... aaaah now THAT's more like it!! Very nice catchy melodies... untill you realize that the one that starts around 2:30 is a blatant rip-off a Belgian classic Aqualords - Witches (note to belgians: a side-project by none other than Regi!!)... That said, the end result is very different from the original so I don't mind too much, just that SOM could've credited the original somehow. Still, this is one of my fave tracks here! Masta of Sound ok, that voice sample is cheezy as hell and yet, it brings a big smile on my face and makes me want to dance and forget all my worries. That's what morning music is all about in the end right? Big thumbs up from me Shiva Rmx up next with a VERY catchy indian singing hook. Again, it is cheezy as hell but that song really gets stuck in your mind for days and days, you know, the kind that you end up singing in the morning when you wake up? Hahaha, don't say I didn't warn you Again, one of the best tracks here. Then the closer is a downtempo track Moon Song which isn't bad at all, albeit a bit cheezy in parts. Conclusion: The first half of the album is really forgettable but keep listening till the end cause there are some really great tracks in the end! Faves: 7(!), 8(!), 9(!!), 10 4/5

1. The Beach 2. Electro Surrealism 3. Paral-Alel Drive 4. Everything´s Move Wow, these guys are taking the concept of ecology to a whole new level. GREEN Beats! And look at the cover, man it feels like I'm reducing my carbon footprint just by LISTENING to this!! But on a more serious note, I was pretty impressed by their releases on the comp The Next Level (especially the track Tres De Nou which is just divine!) so I wanted to see what else they had in store... and I was pretty dissapointed All the tracks here are pretty generic stuff which really sound like they could be used as the sound-track to the add of the new Toyota Prius. Sorry but a big thumbs down from me... 2/5

1. Largetto (Gaudium Remix) 07:44 2. Largetto (Oforia Remix)07:33 3. Largetto (Aquafeel Remix) 06:58 Pretty nice melodic progressive tune, my preferance goes to the Gaudium Remix with some dreamy pads that complement the main melody nicely, kindof half-way between progressive and melodic morning psy. The breakdown around 3:40 will definately bring a tear in the eyes of party-goers on the dancefloor;) Oldschoolers might have a moment of surprise when realizing that Oforia is still in the business, although the remix he made here is CRAP! Nothing to do with his old style, and he pretty much ruins the feeling of the whole track here. Aquafeel's version is slightly better although the winner here is clearly the 1st track. So if you get this off Beatport just pay for the Gaudium mix and skip the rest 3/5

1. Momenta 2. Across the universe 3. I'll be there 4. Between life and death 5. Memories Maze 6. Erosion 7. Rainbow Streams 8. Magic Species Pretty on-and-off chill-out album here... Some tracks are simply generic boring material, but others are REALLY good. Momenta is a pretty uninspired and dull inro track... NEXT! Across The Universe aaah now that's more like it, the pace is picking up a bit and there are much more interesting ideas explored, I like this one but somehow it's just not quite there yet. I'll Be There is the real gem here IMO, it lasts a whopping 14:33 min and once it's over it actually feels too SHORT! This is of the "dynamic" chill-out variety: soothing yet the rythm is fast-paced enough to keep you focused and not just let your mind drift away. Between Life And Death picks up where the last track left us, it really feels like both tracks make a total, except this time around there a more darker tribal beat, giving it a very shamastic feeling, yet on the dark side of things, I like this one a lot as well Memories Maze goes back into fluff territory IMO, although it is an enjoyable listen, it is a bit of a let-down after the 2 previous tracks. Erosion is actually a real uptempo morning track, some nice atmoshperes although nothing really involving, the kind of track you'd listen to while driving home from a party... Rainbow Streams is also an uptempo track, with a bit of a tribal feeling, it kindof reminded me Etnoscope in parts but again, it didn't really stand out of the crowd, in the end it is quite forgettable IMO. Magic Species brings us back to downtempo territory and is the 3rd best track here IMO, with a really nice oriental flute melody driving the first half of the track, although the second half kindof drowns out a bit in the end. Conclusion: A nice listen, and some definate stand-outs but pretty inconsistent album. Faves: 3(!!), 4(!!), 8. 3,5 /5

wow just got this a week ago and was totally blown away!! This is definately the way full-on SHOULD sound IMO, no-nonsense in your face - well... full-on - melodies lol Don't want to hype it up too much but on the first few listens I was thinking "this is definately the full-on equavalent of maximal goatrance like IFO, Pigs In Space, etc". Another thing that striked me was that, contrary to most psy being produced these days, this was clearly made with lsd in mind IMO, the atmospheres, the "bendy" melodies, the odd cover that only a psychonaut could "decypher" etc. OK, a week and a few hundred listens later the magic has rubbed off a bit but it is still by FAR the best full-on I've come across all year. Faves: 1(!!), 3(!!!), 7(!!), 8(!!). All in all, this gets a 4,5/ 5 from me

thanks for the infos everyone! @ Procyon : ah well that's always the case, one man's garbage is anotherone's treasure like they say, I've also seen some albums get a lot of prise in the reviews section and once I listened to them I was like "WTF is this??" Anyways, as a general rule I find this kind of full-on much more... full-on (lol) than regular stuff and IMO it is made with lsd specifically in mind contrary to most psy being produced these days, which makes it better by default

just got Arecibo Chronicles Vol.1 and was totally blown away!! OMG how could such good full-on be out there and me not know of it? this is the track that impressed me most: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2K3vhSOD-Y minute 5:00 to 7:00... FFFFFFF, it felt like I was in some sort of rollercoaster spinning in every direction with clowns laughing all over the place lol followed by this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZqosXif6OI so any more like this? BTW, I'm not much in touch with the scene (although I try to be ) so sorry if I sound like a noob, but is this like the new evolution of full-on, or some new sub-sub genre?

HAHAHAHAHA!!! this is the funniest thing anyone has ever posted on a forum!!

A child comes to school with a very heavily loaded backpack. The teacher sees his backpack and asks: - What do you have in there my child? - My cat! - Well, why did you bring your cat in your backpack to school? - Because when I was preparing for school this morning I heard daddy say to mommy "I'll bring the kids to school and then I'm gonna come back and eat your pussy!".
