Benga (Katy B ) and Rusko are making it, and the general vibe is towards these kinds of tracks (just check out Excision's Shambala 2010), the scene is definately being hijacked IMO -

Lol who said anything about heroin? When I said a wrong turn in life I was thinking more in the lines of making a bad career choice or dating some supperficial person. And no, I wasn't talking only about Britney, there is a whole wave of watered-down dance acts with dubstep elements hitting the radios lately, just check out my other youtube links on this topic, or compare Excision's Shambala 2010 mix to his 2009 mix to see just how much the scene has changed in about a year. Britney is just the proverbian drop that spilled the cup hence the point where there are SOOO many weak-ass dance acts that hijacked the scene that it has nothing to do with the original vibe anymore (just my opinion of course...). And obviously if I complain it's because I DON'T like the new turn in the scene -
WOOOOW new fave tune just played on Tiesto's Club Life yiiihaa I love it!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=af3sqtojNcg

LOL it seems that some fans are even more far off than she is  ok ok I know that not everything is black and white, for example back in the days organizers could afford to throw "free" parties because they made more than enough profit from selling drugs at the venues, something that is unthinkable today with all the crackdown on drugs. And yes, fans take it personal when a scene takes a direction they don't like (most of the time more commercial), that is only normal IMO, if you see someone you love take a wrong turn in life, wouldn't you feel frustrated? Why not be with an artist/ scene you admire then? That's one of my main problems today with music, it seems that people just don't care anymore, it's as if music is just something playing in the background of a party that isn't really important. Like WTF??? it's ALL about the music!! Anyway, just my 2 cents... -
hehe this one has been rocking my speakers lately, that melody that kicks in around 1:40 is AWESOME!! Proof that there is still a LOT of room for innovating melodies in trance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rkj53eKoHWU&feature=related

Lemmiwinks replied to Lemmiwinks's topic in Other Electronica
hmmm well, first of all, "this is underground so it's great vs. this is commercial crap" topics were very common back in the days if you remember, and not just by me, remember all the "this was released by Perfecto Fluoro so I won't touch it with a 10 foot-pole" kindof comments? I don't know, maybe things are different today but back in the days underground meant that artists could just concentrate on making good music instead of making music that might appeal to the greatest number of people. And the music is just one part of it: an underground scene also means people who make parties just for fun and not profit, and people attending them for the music and not to dress up and be all like "hey look how cool I am!!" etc. It's a whole system that revolves around the music and the change in the music itself reflects a change in the mentality of people around it (the DJs, the artists, the party-goers etc). For me, an underground scene isn't just about being different, it's kindof a little island in our modern society that still stands in the way of consumerism, profit-making, ego-flattering, etc Anyway, maybe I'm an idealist but that's just the way I see things Nice to see you back BTW -

the thing is that when EVERYONE wants a piece of the scene then you know that the scene is going down the drain... like I said in another topic, artists who used to be legends of the underground like Benga and Rusko are now producing shitty dance cross-overs and this Britney track is just the topping on the cake. I'm really amazed to see how fast this scene went from something fresh and underground to what it is today PS yeah, fucking Britney in the ass WOULD be cool indeed http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RVKLcaIAE8 http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNhPYj-5rIY -

Demoniak, Canibal Holocaust, Toxic Anger Syndrome, Evil Enough, Dark Elf, Satanic Mutant, Gloomy Phantom, Silent Horror... need I say more? anyway, if you have a nice futuristic alien ritual dark psy track to recommend, please do, my dark psy collection need some fresh tunes (was going to say fresh blood lol)
-
funny, I've always seen darkpsy as the speedcore of psytrance because it just tries to hard. It's like every dark psy track wants to make a statement saying "look at me, I'm the fastest, hardest and darkest thing around here!!" with the obvious result of escalating the BPMs to a ridiculous rate. Anyway, just my opinion, and again, not saying that I don't apreciate some tracks, especially when I'm in a certain mood
-
hey BTW talking about speedcore, this is my personal fave, had this in my collection for years and still listen to it from time to time today http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyODNsQ5OIE
-
LOL there's a whole style of music like that, it's called speedcore/ terror And IMO it's not more ridiculous than most dark psy out there... when you have an entire style revolving around the only concept of being as fast and violent as possible and where the success of your track is directly linked to the BPMs it contains then it becomes - well- a bit ridiculous (but I'm not saying it can't be fun sometimes ). anyone my personal vote goes for this: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXXzuQw5OIs&feature=fvw Not only is this shit fucking annoying but I hear it EVERYWHERE I go!!!! aaaaaaarrrrgghhhhhhhhh

when commercial trance artists make goa
Lemmiwinks replied to Lemmiwinks's topic in General Psytrance
hmmm well said Well I guess that the main issue is that in the end I prefer psytrance to regular trance hence I'll be bitching when an artist makes the kind of trance that I like less and will be happy when he makes the kind of trance that I prefer hmm you are saying that it is an actual rip-off? It might be, although I think that the arpeggio is just very similar to many many goa tracks out there without actually being a rip-off... And yes I guess you're right on the 80s stuff, still you have the oriental elements like in that Punjabi Child track that can't be attributed to 80s stuff IMO. heyyy thanks, I didn't know that one -

ah found this one as well, again not actual goa but I'm sure that the melody that kicks in @ 3:00 will bring a smile on the face of any oldschooler http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVab1RmzMO0 -

lol I didn't mean actual goa, I meant that they put goa elements in their tracks -
OMG there's a new comp out there called Eivissa - Best of Trance 2010 and it's filled with gems IMO, the not-psy-but-not-commercial-either kind of trance. I find many tracks have an oldschool trance feeling to them, even if they're modern production, a definate must have IMO this one reminds me of the good ol' Eye Q days... if they were still in business today this is what they'd release IMO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26cva6A82j0 and this one is like Deamau5 meets B-Zet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J98PaSrhJd0
