Well usually it's the underground artists who decide to jump in the commercial bandwagon but it happens every once in a while that a commercial artist ventures into goa territory and usually the end result is pretty darn good IMO. I know of John 00 Fleming's attempts to get the best from both worlds but I've recently stumbled on this and was AMAZED, it makes the perfect morning track IMO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5V9mXxe0TmM what do you guys think? anything else like this out there?

check out the exact same sample as in Shpongle - A New Way to Say Hooray http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqEisBmYsmQ

hi there!! I've been in the scene for many many years, I'd like to still keep up to date with all the new releases but I just don't have the time anymore to listen through hundreds of new releases to find the occasional gem. So I was wondering, maybe there are some good podcasts out there? Something like Armin Van Burren's A State Of Trance or Tiesto's Club Life but with psytrance? thanks

HAHAHA that was awesome Yep, I remember seeing Alice once I was interested in drugs and it seemed that the overall message was VEEERY different from the one I got when I was a kid. I mean the whole "I'm too big/ I'm too small" theme is like tripping 101. Too bad the remake sucked

Thanks, I guess I'll be into some loooong long listening sessions

Funny to hear a voice that is so typical of the 80s on a modern production. What do you guys think? I love that modern trance mixed up with 80s synth pop in it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32udqal_lyQ&hd=1

thanks for the recomendations guys! I went to some stores around here and realized that getting the "top stoner movie of all time" was much more of a challenge than I thought. I went through discussions like: - Hello, do you have Pineapple Express? - Umm let me check, well, no. - OK, Cheech and Chong's Up In Smoke then? - Cheech and whaa? - Oh forget it, how about Half Balked? - Are you sure this was released in Europe, sir? and so on... so I ended up getting him the only drug-related movie I could think of that they had in stock: Requiem For A Dream, which is nice but not quite a stoner movie, although I guess his mom will aprreciate me more with this one BTW I was thinking, talking about movies FOR stoners, what about Lost Highway? That one has always ranked pretty high on my list.

ok thanks guys, but I was thinking about movies ABOUT stoners, keep in mind that this is for a 16 year-old, I don't think that's an age where you'd want to get too philosophical about things

So I was considering getting a stoner movie dvd for a pal of mine who likes smoking. The question is which one? I was thinking of Cheech and Chong's Up In Smoke but since he's a teen I'm afraid he might find it a bit dated... What do you guys recomend?

OK parodies of famous songs have been around for a looong time (remember Wierd Al Yankovic? ) however since youtube there ate TONS of parodies of songs. Granted, most are pure crap and not worth the time spent watching them, still there are some pretty funny stuff out there. This is my fave: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFepIN0bQAM what's yours?

I've seen this happen over and over again: you have a new electronic music scene that comes out of nowhere with it's own set of rules and artists. The scene grows bigger and bigger until all of a sudden you have an abundance of commercial remixes that seem to grow like mushrooms all over the place. Then it seems like noone cares for original stuff any more, just the commercial crap, either remixes or some sort of dance scene hybrids that are obviously intented for the masses. So for about a year I was happy to follow the dubstep scene, after a while of thinking "this shit is too wierd for me", it just grew on me and IMO it was like the only electronic music scene out there that still kept it underground. And just a few months ago I've seen the scene morph beyond recognition, it's like all the darkness is gone and we're just left with endless amounts of remixes and crappy dancefloor hybrids. just and example, look what Benga is producing these days: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNhPYj-5rIY I could show more but I guess you get the picture. Anyway, my question is... WHY??? It seems that even the most underground uncommercial scene will eventually morph at one point or other in history.

OMG dubstep has actually become so popular that it starts to pass on daytime radio (at least in these parts). Just heard this one on the radio yesterday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYcfQ7p8gXA well ok, judging from the recent trend of remixing just about everything out there, I guess that this is hardly a surprise. The beginning of the end?

call me crazy but I've just discovered by chance the series Cold Case and I'm loving it! It's basically a CSI series with a twist: they solve crimes that were commited years ago, so every episode very nicely recreates a particular time-space from years ago (could be 80s car sales-men or 60s hippies, anything). It might seem stupid but I'm really absorbed into it. Now all I have to do is go through all the 7 seasons lol

just heard that this is out, what do you think? hmm actually I find it pretty generic, I was expecting much more when hearing the names involved... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTQkdTJN-u8&feature=player_embedded#!

oh sure, there are tons: Naqoyqatsi - Life as War Koyaanisqatsi - Life Out of Balance Powaqqatsi - Life in Transformation Microcosmos Winged Migration March of the Penguins Yan Athus Bertrand's Home Life Wild Pacific and many many more... ALTOUGH I should warn you that seeing a few of these movies will make you notice just how easy and stereotypical it is to film some random nature images with a wide-angle camera and put some sad atmospheric music on top, all the "magic" will be gone by the time you have watched the 5th movie...

OMG Cauty and Drummond on psynews!! :o http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDhZUY4rqSM&feature=related

ok ok I've seen it... indeed it is just a tiny 12 minute "episode", although they actually explain more mysteries in there than in the 2-hour series finale! That said, the mysteries aren't the "essential" type, and the answers were kindof hinted on years ago so there is no really big revelation. Still, I'm sure any fan will be delighted to see it Oh and, we get to see Walt (another promise that Lindelof didn't keep for the series finale). That said, call me paranoid, but the last part of the epilogue REALLY looked like an invitation to watch an upcoming 7th season... To be continued? damnit I thought that the sleepless nights spent pondering different possibilities were over...

Mother f.... after all this talk about the series finale I've never bothered to check out if anything new was out there but aparently there IS an epilogue called The New Man In Charge where... (you've guessed it) the mysteries are (supposedly...) FINALLY explained. Has anyone seen it? Is it worth it or just another attempt to explaing stuff that can't really be explained? OR... is the biggest revelation going to be (like I've been guessing for some years now) that there's going to be a 7th season?

best album so far, has anything come close to artha?

Definately Alienapia -
lol yeah I especially like the part where he stops "playing" the guitar to take off his glasses but the guitar melody still goes on

lol someone's been doing too much acid lately

ok, the song is VEEERY annoying (don't expect any psytrance here lol) but I really find the video cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBjDZMJUduo I wonder if the guys behind that aren't the same as the ones who made this cause it has like a similar vibe. Anyone have any more info on it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeaTAWVcKFc

not really into the song itself but the video (I mean the visual part) must be one of the best I've ever seen
