  1. ah well I guess we should just agree to disagree
  2. probably not what you were looking for but the scene is hilarious
  3. well you'd have to be blind not to notice that this movie was borrowing heavily on a shitload of Tarantino-style British clones like Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and The 51st State... And since when is not laughing when you see a kid get shot called being conservative? There's also such a thing as bad humour. But anyway, to each their own I guess
  4. now I know that normally one doesn't really consider porn flicks as being a actual movies BUT I've just seen this one, it's really cool. It actually had a plot, humour scenes and some cool special effects. Normally with a porn flick you just jerk off at the first scene and then fast-forward though the rest, but with this one you're actually interested in the movie itself. I definately recommend it
  5. I don't really see how killing an innocent child in church is supposed to be banal and funny?
  6. well to tell you the truth, watching the trailer never made me want to watch the movie, which is saying a LOT about the movie since usually trailers are done so well that even the most boring piece of crap looks like the movie of the year.
  7. meh it was really average IMO... you can clearly see that the director/scriptwriter flew to Belgium on a low-cost flight and visited Bruges over the week-end (like many brits do) and thought "hey, let's make a movie out of this!". Sadly, they lacked inspiration to make something really good. It basically feels like "Lost in Translation meets Pulp Fiction"... 5/10 from me
  8. it's a cool movie, I like it
  9. meh, doesn't hold a candle to (BEST Bonzai release of all times!!!)
  10. I refuse to see it. First of all let's face it: if we liked T1 and 2 it was only because we were impressionable kids and they presented state of the art special effects. I'm pretty sure that if we had a time machine and saw T1 and 2 for the first time as adults we'd be like "WTF is all the hype about??". Second of all, the plot doesn't make any sense anymore since we are now living in the timeframe that was presented as "the near future" back then. They're just making sequels to capitalize on a popular idea, with no respect whatsoever for the plot (not that there where much of a plot to begin with but anyway...)
  11. definately R&S (a bit of national pride is in order here since they're from Belgium ) Listening to their classic collection reminds me many great nights I've spent in Belgian clubs from when the underground scene was practically inexistent in these part.
  12. already posted a topic but I guess it's best to have them all in one place:
  13. oh but of course, I'm not saying that he's wrong or anything (after all I've once had a vision of travelling to the center of the Universe while tripping, it doesn't mean that the center of the Universe doesn't exist ) I'm just saying that one should be careful of drawing such conclusions while under the influence
  14. PS I'd like to ad that contrary to the popular belief, people who sell stuff on discogs do NOT make that much of a profit (or any profit at all). The thing is that for every vinyl/CD that you sell for an over-inflated price there are like 10 vinyl/CDs that don't sell at all, so basically the profit you make for one barely covers the stock of unsold stuff. Also keep in mind that there's a 5% fee to pay for every sale on discogs + more or less 3% if you're paid through paypal + the cost of packaging. So if you do it like Basilisk says and buy stuff for yourself and keep it unless someone is willing to pay a premium then it's ok, but if you buy a stock of albums with the intention of making a business out of it then you'll quickly realize that you'll be losing more money than you make (and that's even with these aparently insane prices)
  15. the only Lieb project that comes close is Mindpace (especially Two Minds). It's a pitty that someone so productive made so few tracks in the style
  16. well I'd say that the main reason is that eBay is an auction, meaning that prices START at a certain point, but might end much higher depending on bids, even higher than those on discogs (believe me, I've seen it happen ). On the other hand, prices on discogs are the final price, so if you agree with the asking price you buy it directly, there is no competition.
  17. what you mean you've never had that? I thought everyone who's tried acid/ mushies had that. I remember reading Doors of Perception, tripping a few days later and thinkin"man, that's totally true!!", then I watched Matrix and thought that was true, then I read some stuff on shamanism and saw that as true, etc etc...
  18. hehe yeah that's like tripping 101: you read something thought provoking, take some mind stimulants and then see connections "proving" whatever you've just read everywhere I would strongly suggest not to focus too much on such connections since a few months later you'll be like "man, what was I thinking??". Believe me, we've all been there
  19. OK normally I don't bother watching short movies cause they're just... too short and incoherent. BUT I randomly stumbled on this one , it is excellent. 10/10 for originality any others to recommend? [EDIT: oops, sorry didn't notice that there was another topic on short movies... ]
  20. what are you talking about? Spanish and Portugese armies had far superior weapons compared to the Mayans...
  21. this one is pretty cool: any others?

    Cast Away

yep I've posted a topic saying that I found it was a good movie a while ago... but recieved quite a lot of negative replies saying that it was hidden publicity for Fed Ex and Wilson sport equipment. IMO that's missing the point completely but anyway...
  23. I don't know why it's so trendy to focus on the negative side of religion these days. Look, I'm no catholic, I don't even believe in God (at least in the Biblical sense) but I DO recognize their power to keep people on a "moral path". Would you prefer to live in a society where people behave like sheep and do good things because they're afraid of going to hell... or would you prefer to live in one where it's perfectly normal to steal, kill and rape? OK, religion has its downsides and it would be better if people reached their innate goodness through meditation but hey it's still better than no religion/ morality at all, no? hehe good one
