  1. Just kidding but now that I got you to click on the topic, I just made a dark trance track and would like to know your reactions to it: Moondancer - WW3 and don't hesitate to give me ANY feedback, even if you find it's crap
  2. I didn't say everyone's favorite app, I said everyone's STARTING app (as in app to start learning to make music)
  3. anyone know what merr0w uses? I was pretty impressed by his sounds on his album...
  4. to be honest I have never heard of a single person using this app in our scene... apparently everyone's favorite starting app is FL Studio (which is making me reconsider what I use as well)
  5. AHA!!! I knew someone would say that. The thing is that most of what Frank Herbert put into his books are actually ancient ideas presented in a futuristic way. Secret orders of witches, initiation rituals and drug usage allowing to share a glimpse into the future are as old as mankind itself. The whole genetic revealing stuff is simply another way of presenting the eastern concept of finding one's true self after reincarnation. And I won't even get into the whole arabic culture and islamic simbology which is like 99% of the description of "planet Arrakis". OK granted, it's a bit different for Asimov but still, the whole concept of predicting the future through mathematical equations and using a small-scale model to predict events at much larger scales is nothing new either, many scientists have spent their lives trying to crack such equations.
  6. How about Gothika? I remember I liked it when it came out a few years ago but cannot remember the plot for the life of me... That said, when it comes to goth, nothing even comes close to Interview With A Vampire. The sequel should've been pure goth since Lestat was to become a goth rock singer, too bad it never really came to life and was replaced by b-movie acting in Queen of the Damned. I really would've liked to see Tom Cruise playing Lestat again. ah well...
  7. hehe yeah I get what you mean but the question is just how do those artists become gods in the first place? Surely something else is involved than pure chance? IMO it is some secret conspiracy between underground UK lables
  8. I quite enjoyed Come Together (1st Quality was my top choice but all the tracks on the album are quite interchangeable IMO), I'll definately check out Key to the Universe their music is full-on in the good sense IMO
  9. yep your list pretty much catches it all... although I think that minimal lovers will argue that minimal and progressive are 2 different things (but I don't care, both styles are just as boring if you ask me lol) I would also recommend somehow making 2 larger subgroups "morning" and "night" to differentiate the feeling of an album (for example some full-on is for the dark hours and some is for the morning)
  10. I used to like his first album and haven't listened to Daze of our Lives yet so I won't complain, when I said that I was mainly thinking about the hoards of generic full-on and dark psy producers...
  11. yes but there's also the question of artists doing things WRONG and creating totally random stuff but still having huge popular success because the people listening to them are too high and/or ignorant and wouldn't recognize good music if it kicked them in the ass (I'm not saying that I wouldn't like to be one of those artists though )
  12. I used to love it as a teen (I was a HUGE Dune and Foundation fan), but then I just lost interest... I found that in the end most of it is not really that futuristic, it's basically a plot that could very well take place today but they add all these futuristic artifacts like robots and rocketships to make it look fancy. For example a conversation in a car with a friend driving to the next town becomes a conversation in a spaceship with an alien while flying to Mars, but in essence it's the same conversation. And most of the "future" is a mere extrapolation of how we see the world today, like for example all the hype in the 80s about a nuclear WW3 before the end of the century.

    Apocalypto

I'm pretty impressed to hear that Mel Gibson made a movie on the end of the mayan empire but noone has talked about it. I thought that such a subject would be huge, especially with the upcoming 2012 hype and everything. Has anyone seen it here? Or is it just too bad?
  14. hey bwhale, I highly recommend you do a search and dload "Andi Vax Mixing Secrets" (he's the guy behind Synsun). It is free and legal download and I think that the tips he gives will help you a LOT with all this frequency separation thingy
  15. actually... yes no but seriously I think that most well-known artists tend to be pretty secretive about the gear they use, that's why I was wondering if some people here who are closer to well-known artists know what they're using. For example I'd never have dreamed that most artists on Suntrip used FL...
  16. WHat does 604 means? :)

I like to think nr. 1 goahabit is true ;)

  18. since some replies kindof shocked me in another thread, let's settle this once and for all: what is the most used software for making psy? Do YOU use it? Do you know of any psy artists using it? And what would be the pros and cons of using one software rather than another? thanks for the replies
  19. the ONLY 2009 album I've listened to so far that fits more or less your description (and that is supposing you like dark trance...) is Psychoz - 2012 No Return
  20. you know, for years I've been complaining that newschool just didn't sound as deep as oldschool did... now I understand why Honestly I'm not trying to diss you and massive respect to all newschool artists, I am just making an objective observation.
  21. yep I've read Siddharta as well, I liked that one too umm just why would it be ridiculous to talk about psychedellic litterature in the books section of a psychedellic trance forum?
  22. well my personal favorite tracks are Come To Daddy and Windowlicker (if you've ever taken acid this video will be HILARIOUS!) other than that he made some pretty cool acid downtempo: and Halibut Acid But overall his style is a bit too hectic and some synth sounds way to screetchy for me (except when he gets it just right and then it's great)
  23. I know there's A bass, but not the heavy bass we're used to hearing in d&b
  24. first of all if you want to make a good track... don't use FL
