oh because you know of other books with a similar plot? lol

ok she's hot, but that Disco Volante track annoys the hell out of me when it passes on the radio (and it passes quite often -- at least it used to)

David Payne : Confessions of a Taoist on Wall Street about an abandoned child who is rasied by Taoist monks and then finds out that his father is an american multi-billionaire and goes to work on Wall Street. Half-way through and I must say it's very good

I heard that some dude named Goa-Head spams the general section by complaining about new forum members...

well sorry to break the stream of positive reviews but I was a bit dissapointed with this, especially compared to his Debut album which I found to be the best dark psy release of 2005. Generally speaking this just sounds too contained compared with his earlier stuff, it is not unpredictable enough. And no, raising the tempo over 160BPM is NOT what I call unpredictable, anyone can do that, it doesn't really take a genious... IMO this album suffers too much from the "Penta syndrome": everything sounds cool and neatly arranged, but there's nothing there to really make you go crazy, which is all the contrary to his first album. And when things really go hectic, like in Isshoni Taides, it's just all TOO wierd (singing Happy Birthday to You, WTF??). OK, I'm not saying it's all bad but definately not as good as his first album and I'd pick Psychoz - 2012 No Return over this one anyday... 7/10

just got this the other day and I must say it is VERY good. It reminded me a lot of Ghregg on Earth: the tracks are filled to the brim with dark atmospheres. There are only a handfull of darkpsy albums that are suitable for home listening and this is one of them. Mystery sounds like some dark psy with the pitch turned down, it is great for giving you an apetite as to what's coming next. Already here you can feel that listening to this album will be a hell of a ride. An Entrance blows in your face with full force, great atmospheres and great little melody, this one actually reminded me a bit of some of Battle of the Future Buddha's works Tools of Trade takes you deep into EVIL territory. There are some very twisted pads in there, it feels like some mutant insects are flying all over the room. I sure wouldn't like to listen to this one when on acid... Valley of the Lost Souls is simply SUPERB, my favorite track of the moment, it is beautiful yet dark at the same time, "the beauty of the beast" as they say Twited Garden comes next with some more "pure dark" atmospheres and frequent change of pitch in the rolling bassline. This one is definately one for the dancefloor. Retribution is a nice crossblend between dark psy and electronic guitars. Guitars and psy don't often mix well but there are some rare occasions where they work together very nicely. This is one of them Over The Hills is the most experimental track here. It basically constanly increases tempo, in the end it gets to 200 BPM, even more... interesting experiment and I guess it could be used to make people feel wierd on the dancefloor but most of the time I just skip this one. Spiritual Beggars brings us back to "classic" dark teritorry. This one reminded me a bit of Penta. The last minute is pure evil holocaust, there is this floating pad together with a faster bassline, the effect is insane. Soulwax is a midtempo closer. It's too fast to be called downtempo, yet not fast enough to give you the typical dark trance feeling, then it slowly "undwinds" slower and slower, giving it a nice hypnotic feeling and the perfect "coming down" track. Again, some very nice use of dark pads. Conclusion Yes it is yet another dark psy album but a VERY good one. OK, once you start analyzing the tracks, most of what was done here has already been done before, yet the elements are so well used that I still wholeheartedly recommend it. And track no. 4 is AMAZING! If you don't listen to it, you are missing something!! 9/10

Most of the time I live in the past with my music but every once in a while I get interested in new stuff that the scene has to offer. So lately I hear about Ace Vetura this and Ace Ventura that... who the hell is he? and is he any good?

I was fiddling with Reason the other day and I decided to explore some new territory with a track. I was trying to keep the sci-fi feeling Kindzadza style all while giving it a hardcore feeling. What do you guys think? Moondancer - Alien Invasion
-
ah yes just seen ep11, they bring the plot around quite nicely
-
ah yes I've heard that one on the radio but I thought it was just the radio DJ spinning some old tracks... While we're at it, Armand Van Helden made a nice retro breakdance/ acid house album a while ago, Ghettoblaster, here's a track from there: A Track Called Jack

hmm yeah but "The identity of Knightvision is hardcore's best kept secret. She has never been seen in public."... for all we know it's just another Patrick van Kerckhoven sideproject
-
well I hope you're right

how bout secret option no. 3: neither? Personally, as much as I respect both groups for their efforts, I must say that neither recieves my 100% aproval rating, simply because there are too many duds among their releases...

well that's exactly my problem... they convinently skip the intriguing questions that need explaining, or give an explanation that isn't really one. Let's take a question that was there from the pilot episode: WHAT THE HELL IS THE SMOKE MONSTER??? You will probably reply "they've already explained that: it is a defense system..." but that doesn't really explain much, does it? Just how does it work, why does it "choose" to kill some people and just scare off others? who put it there in the first place? etc. I could fill like 3 pages with other questions (polar bears, why does the "gate" appear in Tunisia but is also present in the Arctic?, just what is that pirate ship where Danielle lived doing there?, what is the link between the mysterious button that had to be pushed every 3 hours and the island? etc...)
-
ok mr Einstein then explain this: how can one group of plane survivors be in one timespace and the other group in another? And how can Ben be alive "now" when he was killed in 1977? And, for the time-shifts to stop didn't they ALL have to return to the island? Not to mention that Richard Alpert's carachter doesn't make any sense at ALL since he's apparently immortal but doesn't seem to know more than Ben? It just doesn't make any sense anymore...

reason rewire throught cubase le 4
Lemmiwinks replied to frosty's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
good question... does reason say it's in Rewire slave mode? Normally Reason should detect everything automatically, but you have to change "audio input" on the host program. -
I lost touch with the D&B scene many years ago so I can't really comment on how this compares to other stuff in the genre. However I like it a lot BTW am I the only one who noticed some Aphex Twin-like evil souds in there?

Yes I've read all 10 books + the 2 New tales of the vampires and the Mayfair Witches trilogy, that's how big a freak I was lol OK, granted sometimes the storyline had huge plot holes and there was some discontinuity between books (then again, 27 years passed between the writing of the first and last books so I guess it's understandable) but overall it was a thrilling read and I just love the "walk through history" that follows the carachter's stories. My biggest regret is that they never got to putting the whole series in movie format after the great Interview with a Vampire. So, anyone else share my passion for the series?

YAAAY!!!!

well that's exactly what I like about her: she's sexy yet at the same time plays brutal "man" music

No doubt:

Acoustic remixes of famous dance tracks?
Lemmiwinks replied to Lemmiwinks's topic in Other Electronica
hey I didn't know that one, thanks! yep Nosie Katzmann is da man, he actually started his career by making trance -
hehe your review makes me want to watch it again
-
hmm well actually it's all getting a little too hectic for me... I'm getting more and more the feeling that the show producers are desperate to get better audience ratings so they just throw around one shocking idea after the other. The way things are going now, they'll need like 5 more seasons just to untangle the plot, and I don't really like the way they always raise new questions and leave the already existing unanswered ones hanging around (smoke monster anyone? lol) But I'm still hooked so I guess I'll watch it till the end anyway

Flash'em: What is the oldest trance albums you got?
Lemmiwinks replied to psytones's topic in General Psytrance
