I must be part of the hate it category then I found it had absolutely NO story at all, it was like a succession of meaningless scenes... not to mention the questionable scenes of rather cruel experimentation on apes. It was all the more dissapointing since I was a huge Aronovsky fan before that movie.
  3. OMG how could I forget this gem: BG The Prince of Rap - The color of my dreams produced by Jam El Mar, I guess that explains the trance influences
  4. 2008 actually I've heard this on the local radio a few times but never realized it was actually her... 2007 Ace of Base - Unspeakable 2003 2007
  5. Believe it or not Vanilla Ice made a nu-metal comeback in 1998: Scars Nothing is Real ... and another more conventional comeback in 2003: The Weed Song And MC Hammer made a comeback in 2001: No Stoppin Us any more?
  6. hey is it just me or is there a resemblance between the background music of that and Robert Miles - Children? PS heeeey that just made me remember Max Don't Have Sex With Your Ex It's funny how you completly forget about these tracks, it really brings back some memories
  7. um I don't really understand this modding thing... just why would someone want to pay for a device that is modded to make annoying noises??
  8. haha I actually had one of those when I was a kid!! Brings back some memories
  9. oh so that's why I couldn't find it anywhere... guess I'll just have to wait a few more months then...
  10. nah I hate Moby's new stuff... although now that you mention it, there is some resemblance
  11. just randomly flicking radio stations the other day and I stumbled on this... it is by far the best song I've heard on the radio in a long time, I almost had tears in my eyes Sky and Sand what do you people think? Any other stuff like this out there?
  12. too lazy to read all the posts, so sorry if someone already said this but it goes like this: trance and downtempo are intimately related since the beginning of the trance scene. People who have been into ambient since the 70s will tell you that early trance was just basically ambient with a 4/4 kick... and listen to just about any trance comp from before 1993, you will find MANY downtempo tracks together with uptempo ones. Not only that, but the uptempo and downtempo tracks fit in perfectly since they both had a similar vibe. Most of the early artists would release downtempo and uptempo tracks under the same name (even make a double album like Total Eclipse's Violent Relaxation). After a while though, trance evolved and became ever faster and more agressive, making it less and less related to chill-out. Most artists started releasing separate projects for their downtempo stuff, most of the time under a different name, even a different label. So for those who don't know, putting a chill-out track at the end of an uptempo album might sound odd but once you know how it all started it really isn't that surprising. Trance is NOT all about ripping the dancefloor apart, it's about meditating and having a spiritual experience through music (but I guess that most people new to the scene will find that idea odd as well )
  13. indeed it was a bit of a letdown after Trainspotting (both movies are based on books by Irvine Welsh). Still, I find it is one of the better movies in my collection, I just love the part when the kid sees his dad being sodomized with a dildo by his mom But the last story involving acid is really crap IMO, I kept thinking "hey that's NOT how someone reacts when taking acid!!!".
  14. that's because Stanley Kubrick (the director) died during the making of the movie!!! It was never really finished but you know Hollywood, once they invest in something they want their money back Anyway, I remember when it was released that they were talking about 2 different versions, one censored (the one we all know) which would open in normal cinemas and an uncensored one which would play in porn theatres. Does anyone know what ever happened with the 2nd version? I suppose it was never released...
  15. yep, actually when you look deeper you'll see that most german trance pioneers were involved in the eurodance scene in one way or another yes that's the spirit
  16. ok this is really frustrating for me... everytime I make a new track and I'm glad with the end result, then I compare it to "professional" stuff and realize that it somehow doesn't sound "tight" enough, it's like my sounds are all over the place whereas pro stuff just sounds well... clean-cut and tight. I tried fiddling with the EQs and delays/ reverbs but it just doesn't sound right in the end. Am I missing something here? Or is this sound just given by the final mastering once the track is put on a comp/ album?
  17. yeah I'm still kindof new to Reason and don't master the effects (cause in the end it's all a matter of effects ). I'll post a rework with some more variations in a while
  18. So I was just strolling through my CD collection the other day and realized that none of my dark trance albums are quite like Sctatterbrain - Infernal Angel which was released 6 years ago (my how time flies...). So does anyone know what happened to him? And is there anything produced these days that sounds like it?
  19. Personally I just copy whatever CD I buy to a CD-R and only use that to listen, that way my original CDs are in mint condition
  20. well it still beats the crap out of Saturday Night lol
  21. I have yet to understand what the hell is this zeitgeist thing... if anyone can explain me in plain English I would apreciate it
  22. I'll take your word for it lol
