Now I've noticed a trend latley (well, not that latley but I kept puting off making this topic lol) of people who take famous dance songs and make slowed-down, mostly beatless acoustic versions of them. I must say that they are quite cool. Here are the ones I know: Sagi Rei - Rythm is a Dancer (the first to start the trend afaik and still my favorite ) (yes yes, she made a comeback ) so what do you think of it? and do you know of any more?

My God was that song annoying... It was almost as annoying as The Macarena. BTW did you know that "Whigfield" was just a model who lip synched and the real singer was Lee Ann? Confusing I know

no, I was just trying to be a smart ass
-
well it's not eurodance that's for sure Personally I think it was something custom made for the commercial? cool boat BTW
-
which one? Papika or Th Neverending Story?
-
I think I've already heard this somewhere...

Celtic Cross - Hicksville

agreed... ever since I bought my Yamaha monitors I cannot bear to listen to a single track from beginning to the end, it hurts my ears too much... -
SouthPark already did this a while ago PS although I guess that if you really dig deeper, it all comes from The Neverending Story

ok this is a stab in the dark but some 10 years ago I was briefly into the D&B scene and I remember they played a track that had a nice trancy arpegio in it, it sounded like some sort of crossblend between trance and d&b. It was quite a hit at the time but I never knew the name... does it ring a bell to anyone?

ah funny I've heard both the tracks mentioned by Music Instructor but for some reason I never thought it was the same artist behind them... even funnier is that I just clicked on some youtube links and found out that Hymn was in fact originally made by some band called back in 1974 As for RMB, they're definately in a class of their own My personal fave is you still hear that one quite often in Belgian retro parties

meh that sounds like a cheap trick to me... I so hate it when an artist says that he's ending his career only to make a comeback a year or 2 later. We don't need another Cher

damn it psytones, ever since I clicked on those Blümchen links I have that Bom-bom-bom-bom-boomerang song stuck in my head!!!

I think he meant it in the sense that it's made by psy artists -

A demonstation in how shit hard trance is.

yep well said -
OMG same here!!!! That said you should keep in mind that all these teen stars usually have some oldies who know the music business by heart behind them. The singers are basically just chosen for their good looks and most of the time they don't really know what they're doing, they just follow instructions. I remember an interview with Kylie Minogue who had the "wonder boys" Stock/ Aitken/ Waterman producing her stuff when she was a teen, churning no.1 hit after another. She admited she didn't realize how hard it has to produce a hit until many year later when she started making her own stuff...

your example applies to just about EVERY type of music. I've heard that most early trance never had more than 4 layers simply because samplers didn't technically have the possibility of playing more. And most of those tracks are calssics IMO. Sometimes less = more -
ah glad you guys mentioned Dune, I used to be quite a fan as well

Before psytrance I was into hardcore... and before hardcore I was into eurodance. Well, when I look back some melody structures were like trance so it's all related in the end if you ask me. anyway, if you'd have to choose a top 5 what would it be? Here's mine: 1. DJ Bobo - Love Is All Around 2. Captain Hollywood Project - Impossible 3. 4. Ice MC - Rainy Day 5. Maxx - Getaway how bout you?

HA believe it or not I've never heard of this until you posted the links... as far as screwing good-looking chicks when I was a teen, my vote still goes for One might even say that my whole interest for electronic music came because she presented MTV's Party Zone at the time PS close second was the chick from

Reason 4 glad you liked it -
if it's any comfort, having a Firewire interface isn't any better... for some reason my computer just decided one day not to recognize my Behringer FCA202 anymore. I've tried plugging and unplugging it a million times, restarting the computer, reinstalling the drivers, EVERYTHING and it just doesn't work (although the light on the interface says it's connected). I guess the best way to go is just to have an internal card...
