Fibonacci, the golden ratio and music?
Lemmiwinks replied to Lemmiwinks's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
hehe that's the first idea that struck me as well... although it does sound calm and soothing -
well for the moment I'm still struggling with this book: will try the tutorials afterwards
-
thanks everyone for your inputs I guess there's still a long way to go but I was kindof expecting that... will keep on trying
-
thanks for your honesty Well I'm still kindof new to music production so I have a lot of stuff to learn yet. Hope I'll do better in my upcoming tracks

My Psy tracks- Help Wanted
Lemmiwinks replied to dsobolik's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
ha your tracks make me realize that I still have a LOT of things to learn Cats and Mice is REALLY nice. other than that like others said, sometimes the production is a little shady, some synths come too much in the foreground compared to other sounds (although I couldn't give you tips on how to solve the problem cause I'm having the same difficulties myself... the more layers you have, the harder it becomes to find the right place for each layer in the track IMO). Also I'd say there's a bit too much panning, I mean, I like panning when used for a reason, but sometimes with your stuff it sounds like you just pan for the sake of panning. -
ok so after months of fiddling around with Reason I finally made a track that I consider acceptable enough to share it with you guys. I was aiming for a techno-trancy feeling like the old The Delta/ Spirallianz/ Midi Miliz style (although it's still light years away from their production quality, but I'll get there someday ) Moondancer - Technotrance1 So tell me what do you think?

My new way of making musik..
Lemmiwinks replied to NEMO.BOFH's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
no offence but it REALLY sounds like you're making the track as you go along (which is probably what you did). I'm not trying to diss you or anything, but personally I still prefer preprogrammed music... -
Anyone else likes Armin Van Buuren's latest single?
Lemmiwinks replied to Lemmiwinks's topic in General Psytrance
hum too bad there isn't any youtube link so I can give it a try Anyway I've listened to PVD's set in the 2008 Love Parade and it was CRAP!!! I mean, Armin Van Buuren's stuff is hardcore compared to new PVD lol But I've never heard his new single so I can't comment on that... -
Anyone else likes Armin Van Buuren's latest single?

oh and I just found this Blizzard Mix which sounds pretty psytrancy IMO... -
Just randomly changing stations on my car radio the other day and I stumble on this incredible vocal trance track. I know it's cheezy beyond belief, although when you think of vocals "infecting" more and more the psytrance scene, is it that cheezy?? I mean compared to various psytrance projects involcing Michele Adamson I could say that at least Sharon Den Adel knows how to sing and doesn't need her voice ran through a vocoder to sound good So anyone else likes it or am I just going mad? lol

over the years I've gave this some listening time and time again and I just cannot understand the hype surrounding it... Sure, Cosma tragically died and he deserves massive respect but that doesn't mean that the music he made suddenly became great just because he died.... This album is mediocre at best IMHO... 5/10

it's called tinnitus
-
meh psytrance isn't psytrance if you don't listen to it on speakers IMO... part of the listening experience is the bone-rattling bassline (especially with new stuff... anyone say dark psy? lol). If you don't turn that volume up and feel the bass then you are definetly missing something IMO. I only use headphones when speaker-listening is out of the question (too late at night, girlfriend is taking a nap, guests at home etc...)
-
well it really depends on my mood and if I have time... sometimes it can be 6-7 hours straight or even more, other times I can go for days in a row without listening to anything (good for the ears lol) just curious, what is it you teach Anoebis?
-
Agree 100%... although I have the same thoughts when listening to Space Tribe and Electric Universe
-
Eye am the I without a doubt... I discovered the track after Anoebis played it at his first PLUR party a long long time ago. I remember I was like "OMG OMG what's the name of that track???", then he told me, I got the album and I've been going crazy on it ever since :posford: :posford: :posford: :posford: Funny thing is that after a while I get bored with it, remove it from my "listening collection", then I decide a few months later to give it another try and I'm like "WOW how could I ever have stopped listening to it!?". It's been like this for almost a decade now lol Pathfinder and Astral Warrior come in 2nd and 3rd IMO.
-
can anyone please say how this compares to previous Delta albums? Is it the same style? Something different?
-
Mona Lisa Overdrive (2007)... and if you're gonna take it that way, then why review Shpongle, Bigwigs or Tegas Fagott...?
-
how about the fact that Ben Watkins is a psytrance producer...?

[update] I HAVE IT!!! Funny how memory comes back after a good night's sleep. It's

Going to interview Mark Allen this weekend
Lemmiwinks replied to Goa Bill's topic in General Psytrance
no offence but this is something I HATE: telling someone "hey, you can interview an artist, but you must talk about this and never talk about that"... like the whole reason of an interview is replying to questions that fans want to know. If it's just to promote a label then noone will bother reading the interview anyway. -
ah fuck I know this one but can't put my finger on it... Isn't it Ian Van Dahl?
-
Well I think Emmanuel Top lives in Lille (or close) and Mouscron is pretty close but on the other side of the border, so I guess that explains it ah thanks for those... yep Channel X is a project by Maurice Engelen, another musical genious from Belgium (Lords of Acid, 101, Praga Khan, Rythm Kings...) Too bad his stuff went to shit after his comeback in Belgium, I used to be a big fan of his early work.

Astral Projection was THE group that got me into goatrance so they'll forever have a special place in my heart That said, they haven't released anything new in 6 years (in spite of all the promises that a new album was iminent...), and their last effort wasn't great (actually the only track that I still listen to is Nexus). So I've kindof lost patience and consider them to be in the "has been" category...
