  1. no no they are ok, LOTS of people here have made successful transactions with them. I hope you didn't send them the money in an enveloppe? Cause some postmen have sticky fingers, you know...
  2. lol I loved that track too in the beginning but then I got tired fast of it because I found it DIDN'T evolve much... it was the same melody repeated over and over again
  3. hehe although the actual full-on trend doubled by the progressive one isn't really inspiring either IMO thank God there's still some integrity left in dark psy oh as for the original question: well actually this is a concept album that followed the Mystery of the Yeti series... so personally I'd say it's mostly midtempo goatrance (and not to be mistaken with Mystery of the Yeti which was downtempo all the way )
  4. maybe they just put the date where they teemed up and started fooling around the studio. Sometimes it can take long years between that period and when an artist actually releases something.
  5. well you persuaded me to give his album a try and I'm glad I did I'll come up with a full review of Sigilweaver in a few weeks after I've listened to it a bit more
  6. yeah Belgium is a country with a LOT of parties (compared with its population)... sadly though, there are very few parties in the summer period, when most hippies prefer taking off in their minivans to more "interesting" places like Germany...
  7. you've never heard Ocelot or Ghreg on Earth then...
  8. heh well Detroit techno is a pretty broad genre what I mean is that there are no atmospheres, just these screechy fast repetitive sounds. That for me is techno music, as oposed to trance which deals in atmospheres (dark or light...). Hope this explains a bit
  9. hehe some people have WAY too much time on their hands here
  10. REEEEEZWAAAAAALKEEEEEEEERRRRRR!!!! and all the remixes, actually I prefer the Black Thunder Remix.. pretty rare but much worth it PS I've completely given up hope on Transwave IV... IMO if it ever happens (and mind you there have been talks about this since the year 2000!!) it will be VERY dissapointing. These guys just forgot how to make good music IMO
  11. sorry to spoil the general positive trend here but personally I'm much less enthusiastic about this album than others. Now I'm not saying this is bad either, simply that latley there have been SO many killer releases in the dark psy genre that this one seems a little pale in comparison. I liked it a lot when I first got it but after a few weeks it just seemed too loud and screechy and the tracks all seemed to have the same vibe taking massive influence from Detroit techno. (PS why is it that German psy producers always have to put Detroit techno elements in their tracks?). And although this has the dark trance trademark fast rolling bassline, it isn't really "dark", like I said, the general atmosphere is more techno-ish than trance-ish (or in other words, more "E-friendly" and less "LSD-friendly"...) Sorry, maybe if I haven't heard stuff like Derango, Para Halu, Psyfactor, Penta, etc. etc. before then I would've given this a high mark but once you compare it with other releases it doesn't deserve more than a 6/10 IMO... PS for the hidden track... yes, nice breakbeat track, I'd call it more drum&bass than anything else
  12. yep I want them mate, PM me for the details
  13. oh yeah? where are the climaxes? where is the adrenalin rush? at what point does your heartbeat rise? never? ah well...
  14. yeah... if you're into flat uninspired house music... personally I prefer psytrance. I suppose you also prefer plain bread instead of a cordon bleu meal?
  15. 01 – It’s Time to Wake Up 02 – Extra Active 03 – Synthetic News 04 – F. People 05 – Mushroom Lunch 06 – Pop On 07 – Ten-Dance 08 – Harmful & Wrong 09 – Yumi (Final Mix) 10 – Child’s Dream oh man this is BAD! Don't ask me how this happened but Fungus Funk's style somehow changed completely. Once upon a time he was a badass dark trance producer (tracks like War Science, Two Yellow Eyes and even the goofy Duck the Warrior are dark trance classics for me). But this album isn't ANYTHING like that. It's just filled of light fluffy full-on. Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against producers of dark music moving into morning territory (like Midi Miliz or Ka-Sol did) when it's GOOD. But this is not. There is ONE absolutley stand-out track: the experimental downtempo Mushroom Lunch which I like a LOT (and basically the only reason why I listen to this album...). Although this particular track isn't representative of his style... the rest is BAAAD. To tell you just how bad this is, in Synthetic News you can even hear samples of people cheering! Stadium psy... this is even worse than fukken GMS! and the title Pop On says it all IMO... Ok, other than that, Extra Active , Harmful and Wrong are pretty interesting (athough we're far from classic territory...). And the title track F.People is on the commercial side but I guess it would work well on the dancefloor, it has a nice climax around 5:20 and there are some nice samples from what I think is a 60s track? Fungus, man, what the hell happened??? faves (or more like "not awful"...): 2, 4, 5(!!!), 8, 9 (!!) PS I didn't say much about Yumi which is indeed the ONLY track here where you can still hear the old Fungus Funk vibe because it's been around for quite a while now and isn't really new...
  16. heheh I must say that the cover makes me horny Now on to the music... well like always Entheogenic borrows heavily from Shpongle (hell you can even hear the Shpongle trademark distorted Terence McKenna samples here and there...). But I still like their style. And of course this isn't really Entheogenic, it's a remix album, of which a LOT work is one by OTT which I absolutley love! fave tracks: Timeless ESP (remix and original), Pagan Dream Machine and Greound Luminosity. Although as others here said, this album lacks in innovation, that's why I'm giving it "only" a 7/10 anyway, I definatley don't understand how this album was rated so high on the psynews best of 2005 list... there is a shitload of better albums out there IMO (starting with Shpongle...).
  17. hehe you haven't heard a lot of dark psy lately, have you? X-Dream's Irritant is tech trance, this is dark psy. Alhtough it's true that both sub genres have a common origin (I think it was The Delta who practically invented this whole droning bassline thing?), the styles are VERY different today. I'd definatley compare this more to stuff like Parasense and the likes
  18. there's a reason for that... psytrance parties were initially based on initiation rituals involving death and rebirth. Basically you're "killed" with dark music during the night to be "reborn" to a new and improved self with light and melodic stuff in the morning My main issue is that in these parts "morning" can sometimes come in as late as 9- 10AM... for me morning should come around 5:30-6AM.
  19. well indeed the terms are pretty contradictory but such music exists! Basicaly it's morning psy (thus melodic) with the fast droning bassline carachteristic to dark psy
  20. yeah ok, I've listened to it a little more and indeed, some tracks (the dark ones) are good but the others are pretty average. Probably because repetitive melodies work better with dark atmospheres... Still for me this album outweighs by far most stuff out there.
  21. funny how tastes differ... I find the bassline to be pretty badass and comparable to most full-on or dark trance productions this year. Indeed, it ain't got as many layers as "real" oldschool, but then again the feeling created by the tracks isn't the same either and it definatley has more layers than 99% stuff released these days.
  22. woah man I've just listened this album and was BLOWN AWAY!!! This is basically a crossblend between oldschool and dark trance... how the fuck did this album slip by like that without getting the proper recognition???
  23. only if it's an 80s Amiga which uses tapedrives
  24. first of all, I'd REALLY like you to show me just what do these tracks have in common: Astral Projection - People Can Fly Penta - Inverter Battle of the Future Buddhas - Reverse Vertigo Syndrome The Delta - Def By Delta Jaia - Orchestra 2.0 Ka Sol - Skraqp GMS - Higher Nystagymus - Tommy is Dead ........ if by "similar" you mean that they all have a 4 on-the-floor kick then agreed but other than that... and anyway, tastes change as time goes by. For example I only mildly liked dark trance a year ago, now I can't get enough of it. On the other hand, AP was my all-time fave act for years and years but now that I've listened to every track for a million times it doesn't do squat for me. That's when having more than 50 CDs in you collection comes in handy But I agree, spending 100% of you time listening to psytrance becomes boring. You should take little breakes and explore other genres, then usually when you go back to psytrance you realize that nothing is quite like it
