  1. please tell me this is a joke...
  2. well from what I know there were plans a few years ago to release an album on Boom but in the end it never happened cause his music wasn't mainstream enough. Then he was supposed to release a double-CD on Schlabbaduerst Rekkords but that never happened either. Let's hope the third time's a charm
  3. once Colin punched me in the face and I kept the dry blood on my face for 5 years to show my friends as proof that he touched me
  4. yep, I remember D-Dave promising us a double CD like YEARS ago... anyway I'm happy he'll finally release something
  5. well it depends which IM you've listened to? Cause the older albums have NOTHING to do with the newer ones... IM the Supervisor is basically pop music for kids... and if I want pop music for kids I prefer listening to DJ Bobo
  6. why do topics in here always turn sexual? anyway quite frankly I don't really see the need to buy this collector's box unless you're an absolute mad Shpongle fan. I mean for me Shpongle has aged pretty badly, the 1st and 2nd albums I never listen to anymore because I find them actually pretty amateuristic. So why get them again??
  7. hehe so I finally got off my lazy bum and dusted off my Odyssey of the Mind CD to play the track According to my source, the end of the world will be on February14th in the year 2016. Valentine's Day. Bummer. Actually now I realize that it isn't really oldscool, more like one of the first progressive psy tracks ever made. Hehe a little bit of history there
  8. yes I kindof figured that out once you told me the other guy was Dynamic
  9. woah man don't ask me why but I've missed the boat on this one entirely!! Dark oldschool, or dark from before X-Dream came along and said that for a track to be dark it should sound monotonous... I'm so happy that I found a new oldschool album I can add to my collection 9/10 faves: 1, 3, 7
  10. ah thank you for correcting me, I knew it was Shay but I didn't know that he also was behind Dynamic
  11. 1. Here they come 2. In the igloo 3. Wildstyle 4. Dyn-E-Motion 5. Into the magic 6. Maniac Saiko 7. Spun dry 8. The acid daze 9. Say you love me Dynamo is a side project of Eskimo and another dude. Now I know that not many people think highly of full-on in general and Eskimo in particular but as far as I'm concerned the dude is one of the better producers in today's scene. So on to the tracks: Here they come starts out with a pretty funny sample "Are you crazy? The place is crawling with aliens it would be suicide for her to go back there!". Which kindof reminds me of this time when I was on acid at a party hehe Anyway, the track itself has some very nice melodies in it as well as a sample from the godmother of early electronic music Anne Clark (which most of you probably don't know...) but anyway it's nice to have young producers pay respect to the elders Then comes In the Igloo which is funny cause it sounds like... someone who's been living in an igloo for a few years and still thinks oldschool is trendy lol I mean it's full-on but uses a lot of oldschoolish melodies so needless to say it's my fave track on this album Wildstyle and Dyn-E-Motion are a bit more "conventional" full-on, not very interesting. Into the Magic comes with some very uplifting melodies bordering at times with eurotrance... sometimes I like it, sometimes I find it a big to sugary. Maniac Psycho is again a pretty conventional track. Nothing much to make it stand apart from most full-on tracks. Then comes Spun Dry which is VERY fast. It almost sounds like the DJ forgot the pitch on +7% Still it sounds nice, one of the better tracks on this album. The Acid Daze pays a little tribute to some oldschool classics. It starts off with the main melody from Transwave - Land of Freedom , then continues as full-on and then in the final climax around 7:00 there is a sample of the main melody from none other than THEEE classic Astral Projection - People Can Fly !!! Not only that but if you pay attention to the track you will also notice some other classics like MWNN - Teleport and 1200 Mics - Ayahuasca . I bet there are even more references I can't make out... Now if this was presented as a remix then I would've considered it a shame. BUT in this case it's more like Eskimo paying a tribute to the tracks than an actual remix. It's like you listen to it on the dancefloor and recognize the classics and think "man, those were the days" So I'm not angry, I'm actually pleased with the end effect Say You Love Me is as you can expect a lot on the sugary side. But still it's pretty nice IMO. Conclusion one of the better full-on albums of 2005. Not THE album to have but a nice addition to your collection. And I really like the way the artists remind you of some classics (Anne Clark, Transwave, AP, MWNN...). 8/10 faves: 1, 2(!!), 7, 8 (!)
  12. 1. PARASENSE - Liberation 2. DISSOCIACTIVE - Agitation 3. TRISKELL - Cancellation 4. ABOMINATION - Contradiction 5. TALK SICK - Opposition 6. NEUROMOTOR - Premonition 7. DAMAGE - Termination 8. NRS VS BOLT - Annihilation 9. PHATMATIX - Mutilation 10. XENOMORPH - Violation So here goes my first review for 2006 I should probably warn you that latley I'm more and more into the "dark trance sound" so I'll probably tend to get a bit biased here. I find the dark trance sound matured nicely latley, whereas until about a year ago it was all about putting a fast droning bassline and not much else I find that now there are more and more layers added and even some melodies here and there so for me the style has become just right now. So I'll finish my rambling and go on to the main review This is a "concept album" released by Acidance as a brutal commentary on the downward spiral of present day society. As you can see, all the track names have a negative verb as a trackname and yes the tracks themselves are pretty brutal indeed. The comp starts out with a new work by Parasense (PS one of the last works involving Zolod which has sadly passed away at the beginning of the year). I really find his death a pity cause for me Parasence's sound just became better as time passed by. There are a lot of layers all throughout the track. And that mystical melody kicking around 3:50... ohhhh baby that's the stuff My fave track on the comp actually. It just feels like you're being sucked in towards the center of the Earth into darkness. Then comes Dissociative - Agitation which is a bit of a let down after the killer Parasence track. But luckily it all picks up again with Triskell - Cancellation with a nice floating dak melody troughout the track. Then comes Abomination - Cancellation which has a nice climax around 5:00 but there are other better climaxes on this comp... Then comes Talk Silk - Opposition with a more rockish industrial feeling. Nice but again there are other tracks I prefer on this comp. Ah and now for one of my fave producers Neuromotor man that bassline just makes you want to turn your subwoofer to the max. Although I have to admit I have heard better tracks by him as well... But still a nice track all in all. Ah and now the brutality unleashes itself completely. Damage - Termination which uses a technique borrowed from hardcore (ie. sampling some rap song with the word "motherfuckers" in it). It's been done a million times in hardcore but it's the first time I hear it in a dark trance track and it works out pretty well There are some electric guitars sampled in there as well and then comes the climax around 7:00. Actually this part sounds a LOT like some detroit techno but it works out well in the end Then comes NRS Vs Bolt - Annihilation which also used a lot of Detroit techno elements in it's climax. But again, it works out so well I'm not complaining Phatmatix - Mutilation has a samples of what sounds some distroted chants. The effect it produces works out VERY well, it's a very dark and hypnotic track. The end track is Xenomorph - Violation ... well there are some nice elements in the track like a VERY dynamic last part... but the track as a whole I don't really like. First of all there are samples of women screaming (hence the title Violation...) those can get pretty annoying. And my main issue with the track is that the bassline isn't driving enough compared to most dark trance tracks. Anyway the high point is the climax with a sample from the Exorcist "LET JESUS FUCK YOU! LET JESUS FUCK YOU!" hehe pretty funny. But like I said even though there are some nice elements I don't like the track as a whole. Or maybe it just needs some time to grow on me? Conclusion this is the first album I'm listening to in 2006 and I'm not dissapointed one bit. Dark trance just keeps getting better IMO. It's just too bad that not ALL tracks are killers... 8/10 Fave tracks: 1 (!!!), 7, 8, 9
  13. well at least tell us what this problem is???
  14. 1. Rounders 2. Dance of the warthog 3. Higher 4. Baty boy 5. No way 6. Psychedelic adventure 7. Can feel da music 8. The ring 9. Fingers 10. Juice (live version) So it's GMS (aka THE inventors of the full-on formula which has been poisoning our dancefloors for 3 years now) and they're out with a new album. I know that quite a lot of you would throw this straight to the bin if they recieved a copy (cause heaven forbid they'd actually order one lol). But let's keep an open mind here, this album isn't that bad after all! Sure it's predictable as hell and has those rolling basslines repeated in every fucken track but still some tracks are pretty nice to listen to. I'd say that the biggest "innovation" to their sound is use of vocorders (à la IM and Sub 6 ). I suppose purists won't like that one bit... but if you're in the right mood and think of this as some underground pop rather than psy it works out pretty well Anyway here are the tracks I liked: Dance of the Warthog has a pretty nice melody running through it, so does Baty Boy which is my fave track on this album. No Way has an 80s feeling to it so the end result is pretty commercial... but like I said if you're in the right mood it will bring a big smile to your face. The Ring COULD'VE been a killer track. It has a pretty oldschoolish 303 melody kicking around 4:50. More like that please But then it all goes to shit with some sugar-coated 12 year-old kid apealing melodies... too bad One last mention for Juice which has a sample melody from Requiem for a Dream. I suppose that's pretty interesting to freak out people on acid. But the track itself isn't anything special IMO. the other tracks I didn't really like. Once again, all the tracks are enjoyable if you're in a happy mood and consider this rather as being some underground pop music rather than psy... but as far as psytrance is concerned, this is pretty average 7/10 I'd go for the 1200 Mics album instead, that one still brings some innovation in the genre PS one last note for Psychedelic Adventure which is a collaboration between GMS, Joti Sidhu and Dado... you'd think that with so many good names involved this would be a killer track but it SUCKS bigtime! I'd be ashamed to put my name on that track if I was one of the guys involved...
  15. hehe so nice to see stuff I've posted years ago here resurface ever now and then (BTW if you didn't know, adrenachrome was one of my many nicks at the time...)
  16. G.O.E. sounds like some kid who wants to join the dark trance band wagon but doesn't know how lol There are tons of better dark trance artists out there
  17. rammstein without guitars is Battle of the Future Buddhas, Ka-Sol and Tim Schuldt Now if you want what today is called "dark trance" (and which is very different to what people used to call dark trance a few years ago...) then go for stuff like Parasense, Ocelot, Para Halu, Derango, Tumult, Fungus Funk... they're all dark, but in a non-melodic way (as opposed to the first 3 artists I mentioned in the beginning of my post)
  18. Damn since it's Valantine's day I just remembered there was a killer oldschool track called VD Massacre... but I've completley forgotten the artist's name! Can anyone please help me out? Cause I'd hate having to go through the tracklists of my hundreds of CDs to find it again
  19. hey now watch it there, DJ Bobo was actually one of my fave producers from my "pre-psytrance" days. Don't forget that he's the ONLY producer of eurodance who had massive success in the early 90s and still has success today whereas most eurodance producers never last more than 1 album... And now I shall dust off my Dance with Me CD and give it another listen, it's been a while I've got this feelin' Somebody daaance with meeee Somebody dance with me
  20. yeah they're called fractals... were pretty hype when the oldschool scene was thriving
  21. so you mean that your girlfriend is busting her ass 24/7 to put food on the table while you just hang around the house and play with the kid? Man, that's a nice life you have there, I envy you
  22. hope there's nothing wrong with the baby? sad to see you leave again
  23. hehe well it took me YEARS to fully apreciate the dark trance sound... today for me dark trance is the only psy subgenre that is still specifically made for trippers. but that's just my opinion
