Worst movie ever? No. But a huge dissapointment. Surprisingly i enjoyed it better when I watched it for second time.
  2. Nystagmus-The Immaculate Perception (just get ready for a lot of ehm..similarities and a lot of samples) and Talpa's both albums have a classical flavor IMO.
  3. It's a fact though that he reviews only a small fraction of the psy scene. Either is gonna be cheesy full on, or progresiive 90% of the time. Back in 2004 for example you could find reviews in his site about Parvati, Suomi stuff, SA, pretty much everything. Again a site called psyreviews must have more diversity, no? You can keep your comedy reviews (cause you do have a great humour), just give me a reason to visit the site more. More reviews, more styles, something that really reflects the scene, even if you're bashing them all. With all respect of course.
  4. Azax's tracks from the 2004-2005 period had a more metallic sound and the synths were more liquid. Maybe it's just me though.
  5. 1 - Downturn 2 - Are We Done Yet? 3 - Robot Poetry 4 - Jingle Bells 5 - Pumpkin 6 - Feeling Faster 7 - We're From The Future 8 - Wonderful Feeling 9 - Ibiza Calling (Azorsky Remix) I'm gonna be honest, that's the only Penta album I own. I'm gonna be even more honest, I've never really liked Penta that much. Yeah, I've listened to many compilations tracks and I really liked them all, but none of them got me really excited. After that useless infos let's go to the review. You want the short version? Here it is. You know when someone bitches that darkpsy is basically random sounds over a bassline? Well in this case that's true! I'm not gonna write a track by track description, because all of them fall under that same rule. We get bass, kick, hats etc. and on top of that just random sounds flying left and right. Sometimes there are some nice melodies that after a few seconds dissapear back to the void. I know what you're thinking. This isn't the first time a darkpsy album uses random noises. Midnight's Shared Blossom has many tracks with hundreds of effects come and go, Psykovsky's Da Budet too and more. Well it's not the same. Those albums/compilations create a certain mood and atmosphere and what appears as a random-sounds-onslaught is a perfect creation of chaos (that doesn't make musch sense, does it?) This is not the case with this album. Everything in here sounds so unrelated, so random, without any purspose. The only tracks which seem like complete tracks are We're From The Future and the last one which is a psychedelic version of an electro track, not my style. Ok now time for the good stuff. The production is beyond belief! Crystal clear all the way. The several effects are amazingly well done, from weird robot bleeps to lazers, everything is here and it sounds perfect. The more spacey approach. It would really work in an open air festival. The basslines are really moving, although it needs some key changes. See? It's not all bad. Yet it's not a very good album. Production-wise is top notch, musically is mediocre. Samples: http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/aqr/aqr1cd006.html http://www.saikosounds.com/english/display...ase.asp?id=7911
  6. We're brothers in taste! Hagi Cat and Big Mystery are fantastic tracks I agree. Have you listened to that one? Bliss seems to got improved.
  7. BTW a guy at youtube wrote me that IM themselves watched the video and had a good laugh. I'm really happy they didn't get offened (especially Duvdev) and realised it was just humour.
  8. 1 - Scorcher 2 - Phase Control 3 - Switch 180 4 - Tomohawk 5 - Fractalizer 6 - Let The Dark In 7 - Cyclone 8 - Dirty Signal 9 - Kapitol 2008 O Ho! A new Shift album! Well there's no reason to say who Chris Hoy is, so I'll jump straight to my review. Ok the promo text of the album says that it has healthy doses of techno, minimal and rock! Most of the times the promo texts are lying, but that one is true. Well good thing or bad thing? Scorcher is bad. Simple as that. The music is ok. Fat SA style, not that furious, more in Da Business style (a track from Excession album). Unfortunately the decision of Chris to sing was really bad. Not only the vocals threw me off this track, but they are annoying as hell. Pass. Phase Control is a very nice dance track with all the SA signatures, noisy synths, fat beats and energy. We get again some singing though. Not by Chris himself this time. Plus the track is nothing outstanding. Switch 180 is fantastic. Now we're talking! Pure SA monster. The track has a Pitch Hikers flavor and it reminds me a bit of the ultra-track Resistance by Twisted System. Twilight delight! Tomohawk is another excellent track and darker than the rest. The synths here are really great, both scratchy and liquid. Plus there's a nice melody at the end. Fractalizer has all the electro influences the promo promised without being cheesy. It's a nice track, but not something I will remember for quite some time. Let The Dark In again has some techno/electro ingredients, but the final recipe doesn't deliver that much. The track is nice and dark and it flows greatly, but some singing again and the lack of full power are its flaws. Cyclone is the best track of this album by far. This is SA psy at its best. Well.. ok I've heard better tracks, but this has everything I want from a psytrance track. Energy, eerie atmosphere, simple yet effective melodies. Winner track! Dirty Signal is indeed dirty, very techno-ish at least at the start. The track soon builds up, but never explodes *sigh*. The last track is a remix by Shift's older track Kapitol. It sounds more screamy than the original. It's a very nice track with many melodies and very noisy synth lines. This album was kind of a let down for me, not because it's bad, but because it feels like a step backward from Shift's previous album Alternator. I forgive the singing in tracks 1, 2 and 6, but the rest of the traks even the highlights 3, 4 and 7 are less powerful and melodic than Shift's prevous works. Plus all the tracks seem to have a simple structure unlike tracks like Decadence for example which was full of twists and surprises (and I'm not even gonna compare them to the Excession tracks). From the other hand the style is energetic, the production is as good as it gets and the best tracks here are totaly worth the purchase. It's just not the monster album I was expecting. Samples: http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/nex/nex1cd018.html http://www.saikosounds.com/english/display...ase.asp?id=7995 ps. Although inferior to previous Shift albums it has grown on my a lot since my first listening, which is always a good thing.
  9. I think you guys fight over a misunderstanding. I'm sure Psyvox wanted to write Some terrible accident must happened to Duvdev instead of happen. If not then he was simply joking. I for example don't want to see Duvdev choke to death by his own dick, it's just black humour
  10. Well I did find his review on 10 Years Of Communication funny, and I do agree that we don't need any more killargh-promo review, but IMO a site called psyreviews should be more informative and less sarcastic, just for the sake to be. Like psyreviews was 4-5 years ago. And let's face it. A review that mock a poppy full on album isn't that helpful, since I doubt that the people who're gonna buy it read reviews at the first place.
  11. +1 Actually any sample with a guy/chick screaming/shouting is annoying.

Ok after the Hitler spoof I had to watch Downfall. The movie is fantastic! Bruno Ganz's perfomance is simply mind blowing! One of the best ever! OMG! He totally is Hitler. The actor who played Goebels was fantastic too. The movie is realistic and despite the 2,5 hours length not boring at all. 9/10
  13. No offence to damion, but it seems that he reopened his site only to mock bad releases. That was funny 2 years ago, but IMO not anymore. What's the point to review and spend time and energy for Alien vs The Cat remix album, since anyone knows it's crap? I'm not saying that he must review only stuff he likes (if he likes something), but reviewing shit releases just for the fun of it, it's not that entertaining or informative. He should name his site to comedypsy.com or something. Just my 2 cents.
  14. Classy as? Sorry but I completely disagree. Of course many samples used in psy are cheesy and stupid, but not all of them. A sample can make a good track even better. What People Can Fly would be without the classic sample before the climax? Or Lunar Civilization without the Arthur's Clarke sample? Even samples unrelated with the music can be good, as long they are used in a good way. Samples I dislike: -Humorous samples in serious tracks -Dead serious samples in humorous tracks -ANY singing sample -Cheesy drug samples (only the chessy ones) -Love samples
  15. I know ppl would hate me for this but Shpongle-Divine Moments Of Truth

+1 The movie itself it's not something great, but if you have a dog you gotta love it
  17. That's possible too. But since he's the one who sings, then he's the one we hate too.
  18. I don't think Israeli Full On is dead, but I agree that it's less popular today. Maybe is Astrix spefically who disappeared not his style. I think that lately there's balance in the styles that get released. I mean from 2005 to 2008 80% of the released psy belonged either to Full On, Prog or darkpsy. I think the last year there's more diversity in the releases. Clubby Full On and clubby progressive still are the majority, but I see more Goa, Forest, Suomi or plain Psytrance get released. Maybe I'm wrong though. I hope I'm not. We need diversity!
  19. 1. Azax Syndrom vs Bliss - War On The Ground 2. Bliss - Funksick 3. Azax Syndrom - Hokuto Shin Ken 4. Azax Syndrom vs Bliss - The Better Man 5. Azax Syndrom - Flawless Victory (Bliss rmx) 6. Bliss - Sinner Bee (Azax Syndrom rmx) 7. Azax Syndrom vs Bliss - Psycho Madness 8. Azax Syndrom - Live or die 9. Bliss - Zero Hour You know not all the Israeli Full On is cheesefest. This vs album proves that. If you're familiar with both artists you should know what to expect. If you don't then know that this is party music to the bone. Very hard beats, fast bass and simple yet energetic melodies to burn some dancefloors. Bliss' tracks are full of twists and changes, with generous doses of humour. It seems like the artist wanted to fill every moment of his tracks with a different idea. They're complex, yet strange. Azax's tracks are powerful, fast, with noisy and addictive melodies. The collaborations tracks are all of the above. Climaxes, melodies, power and a lot of aggressive attitude. For what this album was made it's great. If you want story telling, intelligent complex melodies or big intros search somewhere else. This is energetic psy to the max. Things I dislike in this album: -It sounds a bit plastic. It sounds too 'empty', 'hollow', despite the madness. The sounds don't have the right 'warmth'. This is something that happens the last years in this specific type of Full On. I've heard way more 'plastic' albums like Azax's album Evolution, but I need more liquid sounds the next time. -The guitars they use in The Better Man which I personally dislike. I live with them though. -The horrible cover of course. Fav tracks: 1, 3(!), 7 and the last part of 9(!) Samples: http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/dri/dri1cd005.html http://www.saikosounds.com/english/display...ase.asp?id=7994
  20. This album is in similar style with Psykovsky's musical direction, especially Da Budet. Their styles are really different, but the idea behind their music is basically the same. Vey hard beats and non stop madness over almost ambient elements. It seems like a new trend in darkpsy which personally I find very nice. The music here has a spirtuality and almost a peaceful feeling, despite it is really furious. The promo text of this album describes it as IDM, but that's simply false. That's darkpsy to the bone, only more experimental. It's true that some tracks have an IDM flavor, but I wouldn't call it IDM for sure. Another interesting thing about this album is that although the bpm is about 160 for all tracks it sounds way faster, thanks to the aggressive basslines and beats. The thing I didn't like in this album is that the kick, the bass and the effects madness seem to be in the 'front row' while the ambient/melodic layers are only in the background. That's on purpose of course, and it gives to the album a strange feeling like something beautiful crawls in the dark. This works great specifically in the tracks Spring Interpretation and Free Now, where you can slightly hear some melancholic melodies in the background. Unfortunately that doesn't work in all tracks. Many times you want to hear the layers, yet the noisy sounds don't let you. Anyway this is an interest, experimental album, recommended to anyone who's looking for something fresh.
  21. You know, in every IM video I've seen Erez is just standing behind his keyboards and look bored. Not only that but you can't hear what his playing. All you can hear is guitars, kick and Duvdev's voice. Which is sad because he's the brain of the group.
