My impressions from the samples Coming Soon: Sounds too generic full on, but at the end of the sample there's some euphoria. We'll see. Cycles Of Life: Typical bass, typical sounds. Eleven Particles: Sounds very original and pretty Goa-ish. Fuel On rmx: Isn't this a Koxbox track? Sounds very good. Full On, but psychedelic. Japan: Sounds cool and has an old school feeling in it. Joon And Spam: Trancey! But too typical bass and flow. Land Of Freedom: Is this the one in the Twisted dvd? If then it's cool. It's full on and kind of clubby, but decent. Organik: This one sounds good! A real Transwave feeling! Phototropic part 2: Catchy, I like it. Rezwalker 2009: Aggressive, nice key changes. Too full on, but energetic. Let's see. Rising High: Some nice melodies, but the bass is way too typical again. Nice morning track. Transwave vs GMS: Sounds interesting, but I hope they will be some melodies for the end. Tribute: Too cheesy bass. Also the melodies sound a bit cheesy. Not like. Uplifter: Catchy. I like it! My wishes for this album: To include Organik and Eleven Particles. To make the basslines more interesting. If the tracks are filled with layers I won't care for the bass, but judging from the samples they could do much better. Christof wrote in the past some of the most aggressive and cool full on basslines ever, why don't go in that direction? Like Jon said I wasn't expecting a Goa album. We knew it's gonna be full on, but at least guys make it interesting and innovative. So far it sounds like a good full on album, but it needs more cause it's Transwave we're talking about. And unlike Pleiadians both members are present here.

Although I like the dark, hard and twisted side of electronic dance music I have to agree with Nemo that almost the 99% of the gabber I have listened sucks bg time. The main reasons are: -Too fast. I like fast bpms but not that fast. Of course there are slower gabber tracks as well, which I prefer the most. -Too simple. In my ears they sound waaayyy too simple. Like tracks that can be written in half an hour maybe less. -Horrible, HORRIBLE kicks! Awful distorted and noisy. -They suppose to be dark, but most of them soubd childish. Now I do enjoy some childish music, but I don't like it when it's promoted as badass music. IMO of course.

Gabber/Hardcore/Speedcore has the worst kick ever! With kicks like that I can't stand the music.

That's awesome!!!! :clapping: :posford:

I thought he was 100% Liam IS prodigy IMO

I'm now listening to Yahel-Last Man In The Universe and for one more time I'm amazed. This track is really a perfect example of how new school Goa would sound. And I don't find this specific track as clubby as other early tracks by Yahel. Unfortunately he decided to go to more clubby and cheesy directions. I'm gonna be honest, I haven't listened almost anything by Yahel's new work and I did enjoy some of the first cheesy trance tracks he wrote like Tribal Maker. But listening to Last Man In The Universe I can't stop myself from wondering what he could produced if he had stayed more psychedelic/goa. What do you think?

This is exactly what I do with albums like this.

I believe that psytrance CAN evolve without any mix with other genre. But I'm not against those mixes. For example the new great Electrypnose album mixes Psy with Electro. The Suomi stuff that I like have a strong breakbeat side, even sometimes a jazzy one, and my favorite south African scene is very Techno influenced. But IMO House, Tech House ect. are the mainstream side of dance music. Always were and always be for me. I would find very interesting to hear a House/Psy crossover that actually combines those two genres in a great way. But all of the tracks that I've listened so far sound like a slighlty faster version of clubby house in my ears. I can see a big part of the psytrance scene evolve in Mykonos bar styled music and that's something that I don't like. IMO of course

That's actually the second best videoclip ever

The second cd of Shamanisma Have an eye on the artists involved there.

What music are you listening to right now?

Quirk-Cognitive Dissidents Can it get any better than this? -
I think you misunderstood me here. I don't have anything against Goa. Actually Goa is my all time favorite style. Always was, is and will be. But I don't agree with the obsession about Goa, you know that it's not Goa it's not good. Of course that's me. If someone likes only Goa and nothing more is ok, but from my point of view there's more than that. Including the real Goa evolution which I still search. Actually Infect Insect is not a 200 bpm artist Most of his tracks are around 160-165, but they sound so damn fast! I like his experimental view of music, but all of the tracks I've heard by him are too similar and eventually simple to fully enjoy them.

Dirty Motion-Dirt Emotion Phat, phat, phat! This is full phatness to the bone. Intense, noisy, over the top psy. Dirty Motion are Frozen Ghost and Hiyarant, both prolific South African producers. You can hear the styles of both artists here. The melodies of Frozen Ghost that belong somewhere between grooviness and spookiness and the madness of Hiyarant. As usually my expectations were too high to be fulfilled, but this album delivered for what it was made. Power, phatness and massive noise. Not a masterpiece(some tracks could be better), not for evryone, but another great release for the Yabai crew. V/A-Shamanisma Nice! Very nice! The first cd is filled with neo goa, old school goa, meditation psy and some freestyle stuff. Alienapia are trippy as heck with a pure old school track, Reality Pixie gives probably his best tune so far and of course the ultimate gem The Fool by The Muses Rapt in brand new mastered quality (but unfortunately with some clipping at the start). The second cd is a mix of dub ambient, dark downtempo and experimental stuff. Not big fan of dub stuff, but the Maiia track brings a smile to my face every time I listen to it with such a beautiful intro, Shangri-La is pure goambient and some James Reipas for desert. Highly recommended! V/A-New Blood II You know the moto. It's Timecode, it's good. One more time Timecode proves that they can't do wrong. This time the standard Timecode artists give some space to some newcomers or not that newcomers like they did 4 years ago with part I. The POF track seems to steal all the focus, very nice track like a less crazy Ghreg On Earth one. But for me the highlight are EMP. Attack Of The Moose is the definition of Monster Track, melodic, aggressive, groovy, powerful, intense. In my 2008 top 5. Another great tracks come by Phyx in his usually dance till you die formula, the more emotional Harspicheek by Tickets straight from his second album and Tryambaka's stormer. The Artifakt vs Lost & Found collaboration could be better IMO, very nice track but not that great. Quality as always. V/A-Into The Void Nice darkpsy compilation. Ocelot never fails and both his tracks are trippy and superb produced. The Baal tracks are pure Japanese destruction, a bit monotonous, but at least the Rite Of Passage has a very dark atmosphere. The Greek collaborations kind of let me down, they are dark and trippy, but a bit too generic. Especially the OrePhonia track (Orestis+Polyphonia) is mediocre IMO. The Xylamanda tracks are love or hate. Fat noisy kick with exclusively white and pink noises. They are the most noisey stuff you'd propably hear. They're dark and different, they work for me. The last track by Aerofurious is simply the best, pure psychedelic mayhem, extreme trippy. Nothing outstanding, but pretty much ok. V/A-Garlic Shake I need more listens but so far sounds a bit boring for my Suomi taste. Even the Salakavala vs Scozbor track is meh. This is the second Suomi releases that let me down this month after Mandalavandalz's album. That's okay I still have Mixed By Sharaku. Electrypnose-Funked Up I need more listens for that too, but so far it sounds fresh, different and innovative. Not 100% Psy, but nice slowtempo stuff perfect for home listening. The thing I appreciate the most is that every track has his own character and the melodies! Yep. it's filled with melodies, nice to see that. Recommended!

I'm not even gonna say anything about Prodigy. What can you say about them? For me was, is and will remain the most important dance group of all time. Experience was a bomb. The hardcore fast techno styled with the jungle and d'n'b influences is amazing. Mostly because of the use of the fast, almost kiddy melodies. I love them!Out of Space and Everybody In The Place are legends although my favorite is Hyperspeed. Killer! I still remember my heart going crazy with the intensity of this track. Plus Death Of The Prodigy Dancers is like an early psytrance track fro me. Music For The Jilted Generation is one of my all time pure dance albums. No Good and Voodoo People will never get old. Especially No Good is like THE dance anthem. BTW the last part of Speedway is like one of the best ambient parts ever listened in my life. Fat Of The Land is like a legend to me. It got released when I was hooked up in electronic music for good and considering the popularity of Prodigy back then it resulted to listen to this album for like a million times. Even the lyrics and the punk/rock influences rocked my world. I think it was the most mature album Liam produced, with bigger than life anthems. The three famous trackS Firestarter, Smack My Bitch Up and Breathe are beyond belief. The first one is dark and twisted, SMBU is a real stormer and Breathe... Well Breathe is officially for me The Electronic Hymn. (And it also has the best videoclip e.v.e.r.) Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned never got my attention. I don't think that I've listened it more than two times. I didn't like it. So after a tough battle I think my vote will go to The Fat Of The Land. But of course both Their previous albums are 11/10.

Magnificent album! I own it some months now but I decided to let it grow on me before write anything. And it grew for sure! This is amazing ambient, so calm and relaxing. It's not better than Orchid IMO, but after all the style of TIM is very different than Orchid. It's more spacey, darker, more abstract. I usually listen to this album before I go to sleep and it soothes me 100%. Favorite tracks: Departure, Fluoroscopia and Seraphim. 10/10

I agree that melody and darkpsy is very difficult to mix. Possibly this is why I wanna listen more of it. Shivaya Voda is a perfect example or Savage Scream-Alternative. I'm a melody lover, but I don't wanna see darkpsy going full melodic that's for sure. But a few more haunting melodies is something that I would higly appreciate.

I'm really interesting in Lotus Omega! That 100% Revital Free remix you mentioned is something that I need to listen!
-
I actually dig this sample a lot. I think it fits perfectly with the track. Of course I'm in love with the track so much that my opinion doesn't count. Seriously Decadence is a work of a genius! It grew on me so much that I find it today one of the best tracks I've ever listened. But Dead Meat (both parts) are still better.

Kind off topic but... Do you know what's the most cliche phrase today? Psytrance is dead. Ok then when was alive? I've read this sentence like a million times. Psytrance died, psytrance sucks today, psytrance flopped etc. But before someone say this phrase again must say when psytrance was alive for him. I can't understand it even when the person who claims it is a Goa fan only. I mean today there's more Goa than the last 7 years. I may bitched about the problems of todays scene, but I never believed that Psytrance died. So a question to all who once said that Psytrance is dead. When Psytrance was alive for you? Nemo? Pavel? Anyone else?
